Vivelle dot hormone replacement therapy

Common Questions and Answers about Vivelle dot hormone replacement therapy

vivelle-dot

Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.
718868 tn?1230730029 only they took it all..I have a lot of good to say about estrogen replacement//Im on the vivelle dot which is a patch that you apply 2 times per week. its increased my happiness, Im not hot flashing and not a basket case of nerves...ask your doc about it..
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?
Avatar m tn Just wondering why "he" is using this product anyway? It is a patch used by women for hormone replacement therapy!
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi, Addi, thanks.... hormone replacement therapy is what it means, and I guess you have to old like me to know about that...LOL They want me to take Clamira.... it is just estrogen because I have had surgical menopause last April when I had a tumor removed... Now, I'm suffereing the hot flashes, and upset, and things like that that go along with menopause.... Hope you are doing well......
Avatar n tn To help me avoid radical menopause sypmtoms, my doctor immediately started me on a .5 mg. Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel.
7649183 tn?1393014236 Hi, I had a hysterectomy years ago and have been taking the estradiol pill for years. I started recently using the patch since I thought it would be better for my liver and a more natural way to get the estrogen. I'm doing this to protect again osteoporosis. I take Vivelle-Dot lowest dose--.025. I feel fine, but my breasts are sore. They never were when taking the estradiol pill--.05/day.
Avatar f tn Hi I don't know how much this will help but I am coming from having hormone replacement to trying to get off of it and it's horrible. I am calling my doctor in the morning to start going back up. I had a hysterectomy when I was 26 and have been on premerin all these years. DO NOT get on premerin not matter what. It is a terrible drug. It worked for me for years but for other reasons I will not take it and nobody should. I am on Vivelle Dot.
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding, I am on Vivelle Dot 1mg patch (HRT) and the surgeon is aware of it but stated that I should not be on it longer than 5 years. She doesnt seem to concerned with it. I have been reading that with ADH it puts you at a higher risk to get breast cancer in the future, so would they put be on something to help prevent or just keep doing the mammograms?
Avatar f tn I had a TAH two weeks ago and started on vivelle dot. My gyn says I dont need progesterone cream, but I am reading otherwise....Does anyone know if I can get it over the counter or does it require a RX?? Just wondering, because if I need it, I want it!
Avatar n tn FSH is high after menopause and low in the reproductive years. For the most part, it has an inverse relationship to estrogen level. Since you do not have ovaries and do not take estrogen, it makes sense that your FSH is high. I also do not have ovaries but I take estrogen. When my estrogen level gets rather high, my FSH is low (in the range of a menstruating woman). When my estrogen is on the lower side, my FSH rises.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy in October 2009, I was put on the vivelle-dot patch. I'm on the lowest dose (0.05mg). I change the patch twice a week. I had my yearly mamogram (which has always been normal). I picked up the report today and it says: Findings: Dense and hetergenous breast parenchyma is again observed with minor asymmetry.
Avatar m tn Hi sorry hormone therapy will not help at all , there are no pills or cream to make your penis any bigger , take care ,
Avatar f tn I have been using the estrogen patch (Vivelle dot .1) since my surgery and have had no problems with hot flashes. However, for the past 8 months I having been getting hot flashes every now and then. Is this normal? When I mentioned it to my doctor, he just said I was already taking the highest dose the patch comes in and didn't like the idea of me using the oral kind. I'm just wondering why this would start after so many years and if anyone else has experienced this.
Avatar m tn These hormones are very important for normal functioning of our body and if there is a deficiency of these hormones it is important to take hormone replacement therapy to overcome this deficiency. Please relax HRT will not damage your brain but is essential at the moment for you.
Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
Avatar f tn If you're taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) only for hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia, you may want to consider stopping the HRT. The symptoms you listed occur at the onset of menopause and go away over time. Long-term use of HRT is often used if you have or are at risk for osteoporosis. Discuss this option with your physician, if you have osteoporosis there are other medications to treat it.
Avatar f tn Hormone therapy is really not reccomended after batteling cancer,,,ask your Dr his opinion of a herbal called Black Kosch it is known to be good for hot flashes do NOT take it without his permission, I have no idea if it is safe for you or not.
Avatar n tn Hi there!! I have a past with Leukemia. It all started in 2002 and in 2004 I was told I was well and all treatments receded. Then I was hit with early menopause and had to try for a baby with fertility drugs for almost a year. Nothing. I'm on Vivelle Patch now for hormone replacement therapy. I'm 26. Recently I've noticed some dark vertical strips on both my toe nails as well as in my hand. I did go to a primary care was told it's not fungus.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately it is true that replacement therapy can cause infertility, so one way around it is to stimulate directly the testicles (I think they use prolactine for this). As for the insurance, I live in Europe so the cost of the treatment is covered.
Avatar f tn Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?
Avatar f tn I would suggest you find a new branch of Nurse Practioners who specialise in hormonal issues , bio identical hormone therapy and menopause, they are very helpful and since its all they do they can often find answers that drs may over look good luck, you can find these in most hospitals, or chec local phone book
Avatar f tn If your Drs not willing to discuss bio-identical hormone replacement therapy with you i would find one who is, Its sure worth trying.
