only they took it all..I have a lot of good to say about estrogen replacement//Im on the vivelle dot which is a patch that you apply 2 times per week. its increased my happiness, Im not hot flashing and not a basket case of nerves...ask your doc about it..

I had a complete hysterectomy 5 1/2 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor in one of my ovaries. I have been on the vivelle dot .1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up.

Hi I don't know how much this will help but I am coming from having hormone replacement to trying to get off of it and it's horrible. I am calling my doctor in the morning to start going back up. I had a hysterectomy when I was 26 and have been on premerin all these years. DO NOT get on premerin not matter what. It is a terrible drug. It worked for me for years but for other reasons I will not take it and nobody should. I am on Vivelle Dot.

I had a TAH two weeks ago and started on vivelle dot. My gyn says I dont need progesterone cream, but I am reading otherwise....Does anyone know if I can get it over the counter or does it require a RX?? Just wondering, because if I need it, I want it!

Hi, I'm on a HRT (Vivelle-Dot) but I'm also a limbolander, but I might be of some help. I was put on Vivelle-Dot after loosing all my hormones due to a hysterectomy. Both Vivelle-Dot and Climara seem to contain estradiol (a form of estrogen bioidentical to your body's own). In the summer, I have been on this med for a year. I was put on this med right after my last form of hormone was removed (which was one ovary by this point).

Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?

To help me avoid radical menopause sypmtoms, my doctor immediately started me on a .5 mg. Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel.

Hi, I had a hysterectomy years ago and have been taking the estradiol pill for years. I started recently using the patch since I thought it would be better for my liver and a more natural way to get the estrogen. I'm doing this to protect again osteoporosis. I take Vivelle-Dot lowest dose--.025. I feel fine, but my breasts are sore. They never were when taking the estradiol pill--.05/day.

I have been using the estrogen patch (Vivelle dot .1) since my surgery and have had no problems with hot flashes. However, for the past 8 months I having been getting hot flashes every now and then. Is this normal? When I mentioned it to my doctor, he just said I was already taking the highest dose the patch comes in and didn't like the idea of me using the oral kind. I'm just wondering why this would start after so many years and if anyone else has experienced this.

Thank you for responding, I am on Vivelle Dot 1mg patch (HRT) and the surgeon is aware of it but stated that I should not be on it longer than 5 years. She doesnt seem to concerned with it. I have been reading that with ADH it puts you at a higher risk to get breast cancer in the future, so would they put be on something to help prevent or just keep doing the mammograms?

Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?

FSH is high after menopause and low in the reproductive years. For the most part, it has an inverse relationship to estrogen level. Since you do not have ovaries and do not take estrogen, it makes sense that your FSH is high. I also do not have ovaries but I take estrogen. When my estrogen level gets rather high, my FSH is low (in the range of a menstruating woman). When my estrogen is on the lower side, my FSH rises.

must be hormonal related which can be frustrating but can be fixed..I am personally a fan of the vivelle dot..its a patch used 2 x per week its helped me alot..its also suposed to be good for preventing bone density loss...I find your situation intersting..let me know how it goes...best wishes and happy new year !!!

Did any one have the protocal asprin 81 mg daily,crinone 8% twice a day, vivelle dot 2 patches every other day and prenatal vitamin. if so did it work for you.

symptoms have lessened but the migraines are as strong as ever. I take Femtrace as a hormone replacement. I have also taking others such as Estratest and some others that I just don't remember the names of. My migraines are frequent, sometimes several a week. I take Imetrex and an anti depressant for them. My question is can memopause usher in migraines as a side effect?

Girls - I know I should maybe post this elsewhere but since you guys are my friends and know so much I was just wondering if anyone here that is on the vivelle-dot patch have any side effects from it..for 2 days I have this drawing pain in my upper thigh...it is more of a nuisance than a real terrible pain...I always worry about blood clots..I took my patch off just in case for a few hours but had to put it on due to the hot flashes ...I am hoping this is nothing but I am worried..

The vivelle, vivelle dot and Climara are all bioidentical hormones like Kate was talking about. They are supposed to be very similar to our own hormones, but they are still not our own :( Take it from me though, they are great.

t have, and was placed on a higher dose of estrogen. I use the vivelle dot patch, oral estrogen and vaginal estrogen. This seems to have helped the urinary problems amongst other things. Are you on hormone replacement? There is a great book I am reading called "Screaming to be heard" by Elizabeth Vliet MD and it really goes into detail on how hormones affect every organ system. The patch (at least Vivelle-Dot, never tried Climara) was a dismal failure for me. I was on the highest dose and about all it did was keep my vagina well lubricated so all the estrogen must have been going straight there and giving me no other benefits. I get much better results with the estradiol tablet (generic Estrace) which is a $4/$10 prescription in the U.S. If you want to go with transdermal delivery, gels or compounded creams are options.

can you tell me what you mean by natural hormones? premarin is a hormone replacement made from the urine of a female horse..I dont recomed it. Vivelle worked for me///trying to get hormones right is hit and miss keep trying you will get it...if your currently taking nothing try this herbal its called Black Kosch or sometimes spelled Black Cosch...same thing it helps alot with hot flashes and night sweats..not so much other symptoms.

Started having sever hot-flashes so my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot. It took care of the hot-flashes but caused me to gain 10 pounds in a 6 week period. My doc said the weight gain was from menopause. Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine.

I'm almost 60 years old and have been experiencing severe hot flashes for years. A couple years ago I was put on 0.05mg Vivelle-dot patches. I'm still having the flashes. My forehead, especially, sweats a lot wetting my bangs completely! Would going on a higher dose of Vivelle stop the hot flashes? I too have alot of the symptoms you are experiencing such as the bowels, bladder, palpitations, emotional ups and downs, irritability etc. I started the vivelle dot 0.1mg patch for hormone replacement a couple weeks ago. Even though I feel better, I think my dose and schedule still need to be tweaked a little. Has your doc added any testosterone in to your hormone replacement? That is a biggie to help correct things.

I am sorry to hear you had this surgery. I know how difficult it is. I never took Lupron so do not have that experience but ovary removal would be similar to being on Lupron permanently. I became severely depressed and mildly anxious along with a whole laundry list of other nasty symptoms after my organs were removed. And frankly, my gynecologist who did the surgery wasn't at all helpful afterwards. You are not even on the highest dose patch; .1mg is the highest dose.
