vicodin for a hangover

ive been taking vicodin for a surgury which took place two days ago its a minor surgury so im going back to work tomorrow, i was wondering if i took a vicodin tonight {its about nine pm] will i have a hangover tomorrow when i have to be up for work ay 730 am?

I have been in the medical profession for 20years. I have never heard of Valium being used for pain management/control. The only rationale that I can think of is that Valium is a anti anxiety med and maybe they gave it to you to keep you calm when you have pain??? To keep you relaxed? As far as the joint pain,,I am not sure. I hope that you start feeling better soon.

in another state used to prescribe vicodin for my pain and it worked well. I would take 1-4 a day. Sometimes none at all. It would all depend on my pain. We are military and we moved and now the new Dr is trying me out on Lryica. It just doesn't work and I can't function well on it like I could when i was taking vicodin. How do I just ask for the vicodin without being judged by my Dr.? Do i just say that's what works?

Has anyone ever tried it? I have been prescribed all these drugs including the vicodin for a botched broken leg/ankle surgery resulting in nerve pain. However, I generally just stick to the vicodin and rarely use the others. I just desperately want off the vikes as my tolerance and use has reached 8 to 10 pills a day of 10/325 and sick of drugs. Just want to be clean for the first time in 4 years.

HI all.. I was addictied to vicodin for about a year and have been clean since Septemeber. I feel great. Here is my questions/temptation. A "friend" of mine offered to get me some percosets....are they just as addicting as vicodin or can I handle just taking them once in a while, like when Im hungovoer or something??? I went to detox and then i let him know that i have beem in NA FOR 10 yrs I canceled all my refills n jumped up my meeting attendance. After being home for a wk. I found a full bottle of vicodin which r my husbands and he assured me that the house was " drug proof" he doesn't take them and has now stopped getting them from VA..IN THE MAIL..LOL YES..I TOOK ONE..NEXT MISTAKE! If you drank any alcohol, you could be in serious trouble (never, EVER take acetaminophen with booze, or for a hangover.) Why did you take so much of it? Just curious. You know the only good thing my doctor ever told me when i was freaking out about not being able to sleep was this... "so what if you don't sleep. whats the worst that will happen. Lay in bed for 15 minutes at a time, if you don't fall asleep, get up and take a shower, read, or do something relaxing, and then try again." I know for a fact that I do clench my jaw while sleeping. But, the pain is like someone sticking in a knife in right at the base of my skull. and just on the one side. t think a doctor would prescribe xanax having any intentions for it to be used it as to cure for a hangover, that my friend IS abusing it. Alcoholism is a very deadly disease and offering suggestions that can lead to drug abuse is not helpful despite your honest intentions. We are people with addictive personalities so please keep that in mind when posting in this forum.

Just an opinion but it could be acceptable to tell a patient that for the next step for the Dr. would be to prescribe a stronger pain killer anyway.If its true i would tell you 1 and 1/2 see what that does first.Just an opinion.

a hang over is generally due to dehydration. i get the same feeling every once in a while. try to drink a little bit more water. : ) hope you are feeling better soon.

them for energy. If you mentioned to the normal person who has only ever taken a vicodin for medical needs a few times in there life that you think vicodin gives you energy they would probably laugh. Everyone I have ever talked to says, "I don't understand how people take pain killers recreationally, I could never function normally on them because I feel like I just want to pass out".

wow, this might explain why I felt sooo extremely depressed and anxious today. I drank 6 beers last night... I'm on day 16 off vicodin... not a good combo. evidently, I guess especially for someone like me who already has anxiety.. thanks guys!

What symptoms of a hangover are you talking about? If you're speaking of anxiety, that's most likely not a hangover, but rather the typical after effects of alcohol consumption. Taking Ativan for hangover symptoms would technically considered abuse of your prescription, since that isn't what it's prescribed for, and all around a bad idea.

I've read and read and talked and talked and even personally experimented with my own seroquel dosing. I'm a card carrying bipolar and typical of such folk have tried everything out there in pharm-world alone and in combination. For me, Seroquel is the ticket. I have one problem. Cant say im an expert but for me classic hangover symptoms for me if i get drunk is to sleep hard for 4 hours and then wake up and have insomnia for 24 hours. During this 24 hours my mind is dizzy but races and infact the effect is almost similar to no doze, i pretty much bounce off the walls and have a lot of energy. This is typically my hangover symptoms rather than nausea and puking. I rarely drink.
