Vicodin and metabolism

Common Questions and Answers about Vicodin and metabolism

vicodin

thanks
After months of my weight holding relatively steady, over the past few days, I have lost 7 pounds. So, weight loss, increased hunger/metabolism, and constipation. I have not changed any habits recently. I eat a well-balanced diet with PLENTY of fibrous veggies. I have been going to the gym 5 days a week and getting my daily cardio for a few years now.
Carbamazepine is metabolized in the liver and can cause an increase in the acetaminophen (which is an ingredient of vicodin) metabolism. This can cause liver damage if you are on acetaminophen chronically or in higher doses. With all this being said, most people can tolerate the two medications, but patients do need to be monitored while on them. If your pain is tolerable, ibuprofen is a safe option. I would discuss this with your physician.
Also it's 40-60 minutes after taking one I get an erection. It just happens, I've no control over it at all, I can be at work or doing anything & wammo, there it is. Also I need to add that I am Hypoglycemic & have a high metabolism. I'm 6'1 & 150 lbs. And I've this birth defect that baffles doctors. My testicles go up inside my body (behind my pubic bone) when I get an erection, and they don't drop back out until I achieve an orgasm.
I am hoping the Doc or others might have further info for me on what to expect now that I've officially left detox from Vicodin and have 7 days under my belt. Today my nerves were wrecked and was so jittery and antsy. I finally asked the nurse for clonopine so i took one a couple hours ago and that seems to have helped. Will this go on for some time or will I start to notice a difference in a week or so?
Again, you become largely tolerant to those effects as well over time. A person can have a very fast metabolism and be constipated, and vice versa. All of the effects of opiates are reversible-- save the damage to veins during chronic IV use, or the brain damage from a hypoxic arrest during overdose.
So the best approach may be to consult your doctor and seriously consider stopping the Vicodin, reassessing the severity of the pain and its susceptibility to other interventions, and making absolutely sure you and your doctor are satisfied that a full-enough assessment has been done to determine the CAUSE of the pain.
I'm very active with a high metabolism and work in hot weather 10 hours a day. My problem is that I've been randomly selected for a urine drugs test on Friday sometime, giving me 3 days to clean out my system. Will my system be cleaned out by then? Would drinking alot of water help? Or is there a better choice of sometime to drink that would clean out my system faster? I hope that you can answer my questions and give me any tips that you would think that would help me in the next few days.
Hi! I'm having some questions about some news I received from my doctor today and wondering if anyone could help me with some answers. I've been prescribed vicodin ES for the last 3 months or so. I take them approximately 3 x's a day. They were given to me for a chronic back problem I've had since my early teens. (I'm 27 now). I was given a drug test at my doctors office followed by one at the hospital. I assumed that this was to be sure that i hadn't been abusing any medications.
I have very bad teeth and can not afford to go to the dentist except when it gets so bad I half to get it pulled and go get help from an org.
Opiates really slow down your gi tract and metabolism. I gained 120 lbs when I was on them. The good news is that it comes off when you quit them, and learn how to eat a healthy diet again. I've lost all but 20 of those pounds. I gained weight even though I was only eating one meal a day. I wasn't eating enough complex carbs, wasn't getting very much vitamins and minerals from fruits and veggies.
Well, to my surprise, I actually got a little tipsy on 10 mgs. of methadone and 2 Vicodin. Moreso than the 8-10 10 mg. Vicodin I had been taking. So, I am sitting here wondering, is my tolerance really okay after all these years? I mean, some of the people that have come on here with meth.maintanence are starting out at 60mgs +! If I had popped that today, I would have been laid out, and I've been going through the Hydrocodone like water. So I'm at a bit of a loss here. Spook? Doc Dan?
I have working in medical for 10 years and I am drug tested randomly throughout the year and I was taking 20-30 vicodin es everyday and I have never failed a drug test to date.
I have been taking vicodin on and off for over a decade!!! Funny thing is though, it was mostly a mental addiction. The few times I've managed to quit for 6-12 mos at a time, I did so with minimal discomfort. Then a few months would go by and I would start feeling horribly depressed and anxious. Ironically, I started taking vicodin in the first place because I was depressed/anxious but had no doctor/insurance. I was self-medicating for the longest time.
there is power in prayer......go to JESUS!!!!!! there is nothing he cant do.......TRUST ME.
He put me on all different types of drugs and I have had three steriod injections. I still take the Vicodin for pain and was up to six a day. (ON a really bad day). Is it addicting to take it for medical use? I am feeling quilty when I take it now because of its addictive possiblity. I stopped taking it and I am suffering the back pain. I use heating pads which help. Guess my question is, is Vicodin ok for long term use or even medical use?? I dont like using it when I am not in pain..
If adopted by the Food and Drug Administration, the changes would lower the maximum over-the-counter Tylenol dose and would ban two narcotic painkillers, Vicodin and Percocet, which also contain acetaminophen. Yet another painkiller, propoxyphene, was the target of FDA action on Tuesday. Also sold as Darvon and in an acetaminophen combination called Darvocet, it has been linked to accidental overdoses and suicides.
So I was taking about 4 yellow vicodin a day for about a year and stopped doing them using subs. I havnt taken subs in over two weeks and no vikes in 6 days. So now I'm 100% clean 6 days. I still feel like ****. Can't sleep well and restless legs and very fatigued. I just wanna know how much longer I have to wait to feel okay! It's been 2 weeks since subs and almost a week no vikes. Just trying to see how much longer I need to wait before I can function right and eat right again.
and it probably would not help u much anyway Often staying busy during the day, exercising, or just Moving, hot baths at night and being sure u r calm and inactive before u try to sleep//getting ur room cold as u can can also help cos it slows ur metabolism down..bundle up and take off blankets as u need to//I have a windown ac unit in my bedroom and it makes me sleep like a baby plus it drowns out noises that could wake me up during the night.....
I am also as addicted to Vicodin as anyone can get. I take up to 50 vicodin ES's a day and have been for years. I have been in rehab once before 4 years ago and lasted less than a week and have been taking them almost every day since then. I have once again come clean to my wife and family today and finally admitted that I was an addict.
I tapered for 3 weeks and then stopped about 3 weeks ago but I don't think my metabolism has caught up. I exercise 3 or 4 days a week and hardly ever eat! I'm just not hungry at all. When I do eat, it's healthy -like apples or fruit but I can't seem to get this weight off! Does anyone know how long it takes???
PMP must have a policy and procedure set in place and followed. This is mandated by the DEA and physicians run the risk of losing their licenses if they don't abide by it. Sad, but true...they can make no exceptions. What you need to do know is search for a new PMP. Begin that search now! You'll soon be out of meds and face withdrawal. If you have a trusted PCP ask him/her for a referral.
It is no fun going through this. But you do come out on the other side. Make sure you get some nutrition. If you can't eat much, try Ensure for a few days. Gataroade helps to restore electrolytes. Bananas helps restore potassium.
Serotonin Syndrome Risk The development of a potentially life-threatening serotonin syndrome may occur with use of tramadol products, including ULTRAM ER, particularly with concomitant use of serotonergic drugs such as SSRIs, SNRIs, TCAs, MAOIs and triptans, with drugs which impair metabolism of serotonin (including MAOIs) and with drugs which impair metabolism of tramadol (CYP2D6 and CYP3A4 inhibitors). This may occur within the recommended dose.
dizziness forgetting what i'm doing and why waking up and not knowing what YEAR it is, or sometimes DECADE heart palps heart pounding irregular heart beat total lethargy not feeling emotion constantly wanting to get higher i'm ALWAYS in constant head pain as it builds up in my system. too many more to add right now....
try some brisk walking or exercise upon waking.....this will jump start your metabolism first thing and help w/energy levels. Lack of energy, fatigue, malaise, are the biggest obstacles and causes for relapse. Don't give up or give in, the human body is a miracle in itself and WILL repair. Aminos are good, banannas altho they have potassium (restless leg helper) have tryptophan,,,make you sleepy...eat your bananas at nite.
I think in moderation you may be able to continue specific meds for immediate relief of migranes. I took Percocets and Vicodin almost the entire time --- but I had minor/moderate damage - and excellent response to the treatment. It really depends on you - your doctor and your ability to process certain meds. ALL THINGS THAT YOU PUT INTO YOUR BODY that aren't natural are toxic to your liver. Decide what you need and try to be careful - moderation is the key --- and be VERY CAREFUL.
He takes an occasional vicodin but it's every few months when the pain is so bad he can't sleep. Foods, what you drink and how you live is key to how you will be able to function. Vicodin is such a tricky one, it helps temporary and for me gave me rebound headaches, stomach issues and mood changes. Gabapentin is something I take when my nerve pain is very bad but has so many side effects and I only take when I need it. I too was prescribed Provigil, it's the new speed for fm people.
( So what would Vicodin be in correlation to Tylenol #3. Knowing that it is a whole lot stronger I'm sure but i'm guessing with any medication the kidney and liver filter everything and I'm sure are overworked with any kind of overuse. Seems that alcohol is the worst of them all. It's pretty awful seeing someone with cirrhosis and having a bloated tummy :( I got myself all freaked out now reading this forum!!!
