Common Questions and Answers about Vicodin withdrawal and diarrhea

vicodin

Avatar m tn I've been taking Soma (carisoprodol) and Vicodin NORCOS for the last year. Some days i would take up to 9 Somas in three pill intervals and other days i would take up to 14 Vicodin. This is all due to a fusion in my back. Every time I kick the pills i get diarrhea really bad and stomach pains. I was off for two weeks but still had that diarrhea. Has anyone took this combination and if they have or just took SOMAS can you help me or tell my if it gets better.
Avatar f tn The predicted average timeline for Vicodin withdrawal symptoms to end, or significantly dissipate, is 7-10 days. That being said, in some cases, certain symptoms can last for weeks or months, especially psychological symptoms. Like many drug addictions, cravings for Vicodin may suddenly occur years after the individual has stopped taking the drug. Vicodin’s half-life is about four hours, so the drug leaves the body completely after about eight hours.

Avatar m tn The most important thing to watch out for is your blood pressure, heart rate and dehydration (diarrhea and vomiting are usually the most common factors). Exercise always helps but you have to be careful not to overdo it while your body is still in the withdrawal process since it’s using up a lot of valuable energy that your system currently requires. Your tolerance level seems to be quite high for someone that has been taking Vicodin for 6 months.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Sure it's normal. I've detoxed too many times to count but I can tell you that often as my pill bottle was running out, I would actually start wd while I still had a few left. They would start because I knew they were coming. How messed is that??? You can do this and we're all here to help. Keep reading all the different posts and learn all you can. Push through it and keep your eyes on the prize. It WILL get better!!!
Avatar m tn 2 days ago I only took 2 1/2 than yesterday I took 2. Today I took 1 so far and I have been unable to sleep and the diarrhea has just set in. I never took more than 5 a day. How long can I expect these withdrawals?
Avatar m tn In most cases withdrawal symptom feels like a flu. Muscle ache, diarrhea, nausea, sweat and etc.. How sever they will be or how lengthy is really different from one patients to the other. Maybe your will not be so bad. Some patients have minimum side effects. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn m weaning myself off by taking half pills and quarters. It seems to be working well. I have nausea and a head ache but at least the shaking and sweating have stoppped. I can't believe I got physically dependent like that so quickly! At least I know for the future so they can give me something different.
532258 tn?1213194086 last 2 yrs, when I run out, (once in a while while taking it, not often) I have massive diarrhea and nausea. My Gastro doc has done every test under the sun, and believe it or not, the vicodin is the only thing that will STOP the diarrhea. I am trying to find out if stopping it is causing the diarrhea. DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW THIS?
Avatar f tn I suffer from spinal stenosis at C3-4 as well as L4-5, degenerative disc disease, and most recently I had a total knee replacement. I started taking Vicodin and Vicoprofen approximately six years ago when I had a herniated disc. I had surgery for that and have been taking, mainly, Vicoprofen since. My job requires me to stand (on concrete floors) for 9.5 hrs a day, so I take the pain meds to make it through my work day. I've been off work since October when I had the knee replacement done.
Avatar n tn I've been on Vicodin for about two years now on and off. I take about 4 pills a day do you think the Thomas recipe is safe for withdrawels?
Avatar n tn m reading are a few years old. I wanted to share my experience about vicodin. I started taking them about 5 years ago and since I knew well the effects of too much tylenol, I quickly started using 10/500 or 10/325 tablets. At my worst, I took 8-10 per day of these pills. In the beginning, it was for euphoria. 20 minutes after taking a pill, I got a woosh and could stand up after work and work for 4 hours more at home.
675923 tn?1296238011 Even though your dose of vicodin is relatively low, your long period of use has likely resulted in some withdrawal. There are also different aspects to withdrawal, including physical withdrawal which would mainly consist of diarrhea, body aches, insomnia, and intense fatigue; psychological withdrawal which would be primarily agitation and depression; and finally something called 'PAWS' or 'post acute withdrawal syndrome'.
Avatar m tn I too was on vicodin for 13 years and I am now 80 days clean! I feel so much better and the cravings have even improved and not been so strong! You will be okay!
127005 tn?1205019495 Last Vicodin was last night and today I feel depressed, achey, have diarrhea and am sneezing a lot. Is it possible to have become dependent in only 3 weeks of sporadic use? Sporadic meaning usually just in am and pm but sometimes for breakthru pain in afternoon. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I am trying to get off Morphine and Vicodin prescribed for COPD and back pain. It's the 6th day now and I have had a heck of a time at night. Any suggestions? I have benzos, 5mg and took about 5 last night over several hours, feel like heck this AM. I need help. Hospice prescribed these meds and I can't abide them any more, they put me nodding all day.
Avatar n tn Hello. I have been taking 6-7 Vicodin a day (5/500) for 4 years. It was prescribed to me from an accident I had resulting in a major back injury. My question is.... what am I going to feel like sobber? It's been so long since I've been sober I am scared how I will feel. And yes I'm dreading the withdrawal which will be starting tomorrow night. (my Doctor recently cut me off). I went through withdrawal about 3 years ago but shortly after began taking it again.
544292 tn?1268882668 Various withdrawal effects may include shakes, shivers, diarrhea, nausea, and possible flu-like symptoms. Not all people experience will all withdrawal symptoms, and some people may experience others not listed here. The length of time withdrawal symptoms occur can range from a couple of days to weeks depending on how high your dose was and how long you were on the drug. Withdrawal symptoms can be reduced by discontinuing use of the drug slowly (i.e., gradually reducing the daily dose).
Avatar m tn People get very dehydrated during withdrawal and that accounts for many symptoms. So...start drinking as much as you can!!
Avatar n tn He keeps claiming that he is getting off of it,but I truly doubt it. He suffers from chronic nausea and diarrhea, are these usual symptoms? I desperately want to help my friend but he keeps saying he can do it himself. Trouble is, it has been two years and he is still on it.What can I fo?
Avatar f tn I have taken about 50mg of Percocet per day for 2 years but I ran out on Sunday July 15th and didn't get a new script. From the 15th to the 21st I was taking 5mg Vicodin and I only took 1 on the 21st. On the 21st around 3:00 I put on my first 5mcg Butran patch and I am curious if taking it off after 48 hours will put me into withdrawal.
Avatar f tn Sleep and energy will be your worst issues I would suspect. Oh....and diarrhea. Everyone has that!!!!!
1687072 tn?1307043528 I have just fought so hard for 30 days to get to this point, and just want a second opinion. What are the differences between methadone w/d and vicodin w/d? How would vicodin be more "appropriate" to taper off of than methadone?
Avatar f tn If you are having blurred vision and confusion I would encourage you to seek medical care asap - I highly doubt that is still from vicodin withdrawal and you may have other issues going on. Usually the worst of the withdrawals is the first 5 days then you would just feel weak for a couple weeks. What you are experiencing is not normal. Call your doctor or go to ER.
Avatar f tn It depends on how much and how long you have been taking them. Some people feel like crap for 5 days and others for 2 weeks. I hope you get some relief soon. Take benadryl or something like that for the nose, sneezes, and sleep. Can you talk to your doctor about meds to help. I got mine to give me non addictive med for my restless legs (bugs) and there are some others. I am sure others will get on to help. Sorry you got caught up in the new laws. Were you taking them for pain??
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone has any idea as to about how long certain w/d symptoms from Tramadol last? I have not had any Tramadol in 11 days and I am having severe GI upset (abdominal cramping and diarrhea) and the restless legs at night are terrible. can't sleep to save my life right now. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn Yes sneezing is a symptom. I think i read somewhere opiates make everything constrict. While going through withdraw everything releases so to speak. Causeing the sneezing and the not so fun diarrhea. Not a good combo..lol..I've been though withdraws many times and this last time was the first for the sneezing. I would sneeze hard like 3-4 times at a time. It let up after about a week or so. It sounds like you have been through the ringer.
Avatar f tn The Methadone was worse than the Vicodin. I stayed clean for years. Even was prescribed Percocet and used them as directed and was done. I had painkillers prescribed to me from Doctors and never touched them. Never filled the prescription. I was doing so good and was so happy that the Methadone ball and chain was behind me. Fast forward 10 years later....
