Valtrex and bactrim

Common Questions and Answers about Valtrex and bactrim

valtrex

How soon should I expect the lesions to clear after beginning Bactrim? And if my cultures for staph also come back negative, what does this mean? In reading other posts you have done about risk of transmission and the fact that mixed couples have only produced a 5% transmission rate after a year of unprotected sex gives me some hope as well. Having only 3 encounters with this man would make my transmission rate low, so I am hopeful.
I shaved again and a day later my left armpit is hurting again,no bump, so i take a valtrex and a keflex and a bactrim and the pain lessed alot and now i amost feel nothing there. have any of you experienced anything like this? Is it cancer, hiv, or what else? I bee tested once for hiv recently neg, and so has my bf about 4 months ago. We been together 2 years and a half. I dont know amybe im worrying about the cancer because of my family history.. Well dont lumps mean cancer? ..
ok so not bv if they put you on bactrim. I'd certainly call monday and ask more questions though as to what bacterial infection you had and where. hsv1 genitally tends not to reoccur very often. It also won't go away in a day if it's herpes related. I'm willing to guess that that cut in the skin is something else going on but it triggered a hsv1 recurrence. definitely in a few weeks, if things aren't better, return for more work up.

I am experiencing muscle pain (abdomen & back) and have a slight sore throat. Is my condition getting worst or am I experiencing something else. I'm really getting worried to the fact of going to the ER since my Dr.'s office is closed for the holidays. Please advise!!!!
all showed nothing). I took Valtrex and it seemed to help right away. I haven't had eye pain, numbness or a headache but my ear is still hurting! Hopefully this may lead some of you to another direction for investigation. Also, if you have any other thoughts for me...let me know! Yes, it's miserable! I am thinking maybe I have a few things going on at once. Thanks!
Well, I went to an OB/GYN the next day who said that I had herpes and still had a UTI. She perscribed me valtrex and Macrobid. I am having moderate pain in my hip, my leg, and one side of my lower stomach. This is not going away. Also, I am finding it hard to urinate now as well and it is still burning. Anyone know whats going on? I need help.
I noticed greenish/brown mucus and tooth pain and went to doctor for an anti-biotic (I think Bactrim). I took the antibiotic which seemed to clear up what I thought was a sinus infection but I still wasn't feeling better and my glands were very swollen (they still are too a degree). The doctor prescribed Augmentin due to the remaining swollen glands and remaining flu like symptoms. On April 16th, I had tingling in my hands and feelings of pure exhaustion.
She said all she found was proteins in my urine and thought it could be a UTI. She gave me a prescription for bactrim and said to take it for 7 days. I took it for 5 days and had a bad pain in my lower abdomen. I went back and the doctor prescribed me cipro. I only took 3 doses of the cipro before I became to feel really weird and had swelling around my penis. The doctor told me to stop taking the cipro, which I did.
Gave me Valtrex, Diflucan and Doxycycline and sent me home. For all intents and purposes the pain and rash went away. The Herpes test was negative as well as Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. The rash, pain and burn came back about 4 months later, went to urologist and he said I had a yeast infection and gave me some Diflucan and sent me home. Urinalysis came back negative and prostate was normal.
She examined my prostate and said it was boggy, so took me off of Bactrim and put me on Levaquin for prostatitis. Next day (yesterday), pain still absolutely unbearable I went to a local Patient First to be treated for the pain while urinating. The doctor examined me, took blood and urine. She said that the blood and urine aren't consistent with a prostate infection. She looked inside my urethra and swabbed it and told me she thinks I likely have herpes in my urethra.
A few years ago I took one Bactrim DS for sinusitis and within 2 hours suffered significant tingling (nerve pain) on left labia majora/minora followed by severe swelling, redness which took several days to a week to improve. (only took one Bactrim DS tablet). Diflucan didn't expedite resolution; it just took time. If I had to identify possible mild HSV 2 symptoms in the past it would be in that exact area. Can Bactrim DS cause an OB?
I have been to urologist who suspected prostatis and have gone through rounds of doxycycline and bactrim -no relief. I have had an MRI and other tests and have been to a neurologist who can't find anything. I took Valtrex for a period of time (1 gram/day) and can't really say that I saw relief. The symptoms wax and wane from awful to bad, but never go completely away, whether on the valtrex or not. The valtrex definitely did not make anything go completely away.
Don't self diagnose - go and be seen and get properly tested. Women only accurately diagnose vaginal yeast infections 1/3 of the time so proper testing is the best course of action. It's just as likely to be bv instead of yeast and otc yeast medications don't help for that.
Since then I have had a handful of minor outbreaks over the years. Whenever I feel a tingling, I usually just pop a gram of Valtrex and then 12 hours later pop another gram and that usually does the trick to stop the outbreak. I do not ever recall having what I thought could be herpetic lesions in my anal or genital area. I do have fairly frequent sexual contact with multiple partners, so it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility that I could have contracted this.
3 more weeks -my scrotum turns red and irritated and starts to burn. burning continues and spreads in the folds of my skin (thighs). my entire scrotum and penis burn. 6 months later -arms, chest, back and face broken out in what appears to be folliculitis -very oily. bumps that crust over on my scalp. forehead-skin colored bumps. penis and scrotum skin are very thin. neck lymph nodes swollen. little energy.
May 10th my parents took me to the ER and the hospital said that it looked like I had herpes and bacterial vaginosis to them. They took cultures and prescribed me vicodin, valtrex and clindamyicin. May 11th I saw a gynecologist who also took a culture for herpes and took blood. May 12th I noticed white clumping around my tonsils, which I figured to be strep throat. I called my gynecologist and she prescribed me something called the Z pack. I started taking it that day.

i apologize for the fact that i know nothing about this condition and now i am really scared for him and want to make sure this is a true reading and if there is a chance it is wrong i will gladly have him retested. also, can you explain the 2.4 compared to some of the counts i have seen. is there a chance of a falve posititve? still praying....
Actually bactrim is prescribed for many things. did she by chance have symptoms of an uti at the same time as her herpes symptoms or any other infection? there is no reason for you to be treated for herpes. Your hsv1 has been there since before you met your wife and it's not an issue. Treating herpes just makes lesions heal faster which isn't something you need. Odds are you transmitted an oral hsv1 infection to your wife through oral sex. Can you recall ever having had a cold sore ever?
i was having urinary symptoms for almost a year before that and then when the breakup occured it started as a ushual UTI and then once i started my antibiotics i developed sores all over my mouth down my throat and one on my genital area - the ER told me it was an allergic reaction to my Bactrim for the UTI and that i had trich also, but then i went to my real physician once i got my insurance back(at the end of the two weeks were talking about) because it wasnt getting much better and he diag
I get kinda the same symptoms, but I get a sore throat, swollen glands and flu-like symptoms. I am currently on Valtrex and was on it the past two times. From what I was told by the Doctor in the Expert forum, it is possible to have HSV and have negative test results because the virus can lie dormant for quite awhile. He also told me that the culture(swabbing test) is not sensitive enough and can give false negatives.
So same thing happened subscribed me valtrex and flagyl( for the infection), but it seemed like this one was more painful this time. They also did another vaginal swab and that came back negative again, so they said to go get the blood test done but that came back negative too. Fast forward again to now (3months later) about a month ago i had the same symptoms but no vaginal sores so my Dr.
I went to Planned Parenthood around to weeks ago with, what I thought was an ingrown hair and a UTI. The doc performed a viral culture and a pap and I was given Bactrim for the UTI. Six days later, I learned that I had herpes. I tried to ask the nurse my viral load and typology. She said that from the culture performed, neither the type nor the viral load could be determined, but that I should assume that the culture was accurate.
The woman I was with also got tested at this time, all was negative, except HSV-1, but still no signs or symptoms ever and was told it could be oral and from childhood. After 8weeks, I had another Herpes and HIV blood test, all negative as well. I’ve been so worried, the doctor put me on Valtrex for suppression, 500mg once per day. I have not have any occurrences since the one bump at the 6 week mark, perhaps due to the Valtrex.
i recently found out that im 2 weeks pregnant and iwas on antibiotics(doxyclyn and metrronidazole) for bacterial infection before i took the test ,i want to know if this has affected the baby or me.
We did not retest for HIV and we decided to do that in a few weeks. I decided to stop the Valtrex and see what would happen. 12. Day 34 - Indigestion. No diarrhea, but gas, bloating, and frequent urge to go. This resolved in 2-3 days, only to come back for 2-3 days a week later. Resolved again. 14. Day 44-45 - Dizziness comes back, and this is hard for me to work with. I get back on the Valtrex - 2g a day.
I was diagnosed by doctor for shingles on my forehead treated with Valtrex and Predizone. After 2 weeks, it wasn't any better and was recommended to see a dermatologist. He did a culture which showed it to be a bacterial skin infection. He switched me to Bactrim and still one week later, it is still not better. The derm thinks I never had shingles to begin with, could I have and it turn into a bacterial infection? Should I see an infectious disease doctor?
The doctor told me I also had prostatitits and gave me 2 weeks of Bactrim. They use Bactrim because it is a broad spectrum antibiotic meaning it is effective against many of the offending agents that could cause prostatitis. Otherwise they have to do an expensive and time consuming fluid analysis to determine a cause and treatment. I took the two weeks and felt slightly better.
