Instead of a named brand anti convulsant for pain I used an older one that was generic. I had to do this with many drugs. With name brand drugs my doctor gave me samples.

----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. I just assumed it was because I was adjusting to the medication.

Could you give us a little background on what meds you've tried and for how long? I'm sure you've mentioned it before but I have a hard time keeping track of so much.

Unfortunately all the MS medications (the injectable DMDs) are all name-brand only. There are no generics. You'll have to get a prescription from the neurologist for your chosen medication. Then you'll have to order the medication from a pharmacy. It is possible to get financial assistance from Betaseron and Copaxone. I was approved for 100% financial assistance with both Copaxone and Betaseron.

He feels that Tysabri is the way to go. I know that there are others here on it or used to be. I would love some insight on what to expect, how long it takes, etc... Thanks!

ve taken, both, generic levothyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3), as well, as brand name Synthroid and Cytomel. I did better on on generic levo than I did on Synthyroid... I've been taking generic liothyronine for over 5 yrs and have done just as well as I did on Cytomel. I don't think you'll have any difficulty, with generic T3, but if you do, you can always go back to Cytomel.

Your question is a bit confusing to me. Are you saying that you had the rash, fatigue, etc.on the generic or a brand name? A rash usually means an allergic reaction. What type of thyroid medication are you on?

There have been at least 5 cases of PML in patients treated for psoriasis with Tecfidera (different brand name, same generic drug though). Now there has been a case of PML in the US in an MS patient being treated with Tecfidera. My doctor talks to me like I'm an idiot because I'm just not real excited about doing one of the drugs even though I'm JCV +. She said my disease is very active, which I'm well aware of -- I'm living in this body, not her.
