There was thrush, ulcers. lesions and huge amounts of swelling. I have not had ANY voice for over 3 weeks! I was also not allowed to try to talk either.

It seems like the general consensus is that it is indeed possible to catch herpes this way (genital-hand-genital), but it is very unlikely. I couldn't, however, find a single anecdote where someone actually claims to have gotten herpes this way. First time herpes outbreaks would be at point of contact but if she did not have any genital sores at the time, your exposure is really not significent.

On the one hand, you were right to be concerned about genital herpes, since that is the most common cause of otherwise unexplained ulcers (i.e. open wounds) of the genital area. It doesn't sound typical for herpes, hower. Further, the penile "bump" doesn't sound like herpes, and a clinician's reassurance that it wasn't herpes is highly reassuring. Moreover, it is pretty much impossible to catch herpes from the exposures you describe.

I have not had contact with anyone who has had an outbreak of genital herpes and have be practicing safe sex. How should I read this test result? Could any of the other forms of herpes cause a "false-equivocal" instead of a positive?

Genital Herpes is completely curable? I happened to get genital herpes more than a year back. Still it is troubling me freequenty almost every month. When I apply tropical ointments it goes off. But can it be cured fully??

thanks for the quick response..i got tested awhile back and everything came back clean at that time.. and thats what i thought but i wasn't 100 percent sure i had heard that if you had oral herpes or w/e that you could give that to them and it makes the person have genital herpes but you'd have to have a cold sore in your mouth correct?

They found out the reason people contracted PML was because they were taking Avonex/and the other MS medications with Tysabri. I think the Tysabri has given me a second chance at helping slow my disease progress, but with out it I would be on no MS medications to slow the disease. and when i saw another dr i asked him about my results and he said i dont have genital herpes that i have herpes simplex..but i am very confused..cause the first dr told me to use condoms..cause i might pass it to my partner..and the other dr said i cannot pass it to my partner sexually transmitted..please help me..cause i am very confused..my bf is too..he test too and he dosent have anything. ve never had a herpes outbreak in the past so either I contracted herpes from the aforementioned event, I already had it and never had physical signs until now, or it wasn't herpes. Wish I knew definitely. I do have a couple of questions. Does the herpes outbreak always occur at the place that was originally infected? Because that area was completely protected during sex? Also, can you contract herpes and not have any physical signs until months later?

I have had MD for 18 years. Been on Avonex, Betaseron, Tysabri, and now Tecfidera. Unfortunately, I'm also on lots of other medications, mostly due to terrible central pain. My neurologist made me stop the Tysabri after 24 infusions because of safety concerns. I felt my overall best while on Tysabri and have asked him if and when I might be able to go back on the monthly infusions. He does not have an answer for me at this point.

Are any of you on Tysabri? My doctor has suggested that I consider starting Tysabri treatment. His neurology practice runs a TOUCH infusion center. I've been on Copaxone for four years and have just had my first flareup. My recent MRI shows progression of MS with T2 hyperintense white matter lesions in the pons of the brainstem and the frontal lobe. Several of the older lesions have increased in size. Five years ago I was on Avonex. I had multiple flare-ups the whole year on this med.
