Common Questions and Answers about Triamcinolone and shingles

I started putting a steroidal cream, Triamcinolone Acetonide on my neck immediately and it helped. When the rash developed on my bellybutton I scheduled an appointment with my allergy/immunologist doctor. It was a Friday, so I had to wait until Monday. Over the weekend, the belly area got worse and blistered badly. When I went to my doctor, he wasn't sure what it was (shingles, herpes simplex or herpes genital). He prescribed Zovirax cream and ran a blood test.
I just remember vaguely that nerves are where the shingles are, and it can goof them up. If your shingles goes away and you've tried various means of getting your digestion going, but it's still a problem, I agree with the poster Mammo about going to the ER, or go to a Gastoenterologist, or possibly even a Neurologist if it comes down to nobody having any answers, in case that paralysis thing with the shingles would affect your digestion.
You were right Doc. I went to the doctor today and he said it was Shingles. He prescribed 500mg Famvir 3x a day for 7 days. That sound reasonable? Thanks so much for your help.
he gave me antibiotics and nystatin and triamcinolone cream i have been on this cream over 5 days and no progress. the fissure is at the top of the hood area and therefore cracks open again every time i sit down to pee or wash or get up from sitting on the floor..i switched to wearing boxer shorts all day and night and no help there..god does anyone have any helpful ideas?!!!!
I've seen 2 doctors and 1 specialist, none have really told me anything and all tests always come back negative (I was tested for herpes as well.) Even the yeast cultures come back negative. I've been going to acupuncture for the last 2 months and the symptoms are decreasing, but at a very slow rate. I have taken Monistat, flagyl, cortizone (steroid) pills and cream and nothing has worked.
At first I thought it was windburn, (my husband drives his jeep with the top off) so I began applying lotion all day and night. It burns and tingles a little whenever I apply it. The lotion isn't helping though. (I am using a oil-free face lotion) If this persists I will be going to the doctor next week to see what is wrong, but I was hoping someone here could offer some help beforehand. What is wrong with my face?!
Hello, I cannot confirm anything witout examination but since the rash is in one dermatome, the first possibility is of shingles. Shingles is caused by the reactivation of the chicken pox virus and attack a particular nerve branch in your spine. They always affect only one side of the body (left or right) and never cross the midline. It may thus appear as a band around one side of the chest or abdomen, or down an arm or leg.
My doctor says it may be a form of Rosacea, but I've never been diagnosed. She also prescribed me a cream called Triamcinolone Acetonide, and it does help, but very little. What is this? When will it go away?
I already had the measles. My dermatologist (who is also a personal friend) prescribed Triamcinolone and Clobetasol creams and Cetirizine 10 mg tablets. My surgeon called and he wants to see me tomorrow. I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea of what this could be. Shingles hurts and looks different (my mom had it, I remember what it looks like) and this really looks like measles. It's still spreading, I now feel some coming out on my arms.
His peditrician didn't know what it was so we went to see a dermologist he gave us this cream TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% for fougera and said it is stem from his Asthma which i don't buy ; because i had asthma as a child and never experince anything like that. I have a feeling it might be shingles . We have been using this ointment for more than three weeks and it seems to be spreading. Should i have him see another doctor? and have his blood tested? Thanks very much.
Needless to say now it is 3 1/2 months and I have been through Nystatin, econazole, triamcinolone, cutivate, biafine, Valtrex (7 days in middle December for Shingles) and Elidel and none seem to make it resolve. It has gotten better and seems to do better when nothing is on it than when we try to treat it. It seemed to be doing fairly well. This past Saturday, I barely noticed it, but the last 48 hours I am feeling it more again though not as intense as at first.
I went to see my dr. on Monday and she prescribed an oral cream triamcinolone acetonide but again to no avail, the rashes continues. My rashes on my arms are clustered in patches that looks blistery and it was feeling really painful due to the swelling. I contacted my dr. again and she then prescribed me10 mg prednisone and today is the second day I took it. The swelling has helped a bit but the itchiness continues.
So here I am fretting about the skin disturbances on my penis and the thought that the eye and temporal pain are the prodrome of shingles (a known Protopic side effect). My questions are as follows: 1. Do you think the involvement of the shaft of my penis while on Locoid could be from the thinning skin effect of Locoid (which inevitibly came into contact with that area) or a delayed fixed drug eruption from Bactrim? 2. Is it safe to use the Locoid or Nystatin/Triamcinolone again?
Iam so tired of a rash that keeps coming up, it will clear up then a few days later come back.. My dr has put me on triamcinolone 1% cream. Iam a very clean person and this rash keeps showing up under my armpit and right below.. any suggestion. While i use the cream it will clear up then come back if i stop.. Iam so discourage from this. Any advice might help...
I saw my Urologist and he felt that the pattern could fit a yeast infection where it was and switched me to a Nystatin/triamcinolone ointment. After 3 days it seemed a little more red and my derm put me on straight Nystatin with no success. Since then I have been on Biafine, Clobex, and Elidel with little help. A second Dermatologist told me it was mild when I was on the Biafine and told me to try stopping. When I was off all meds, it did seem to get better, but has not fully gone away.
I had shingles last year and it started in the same place...started on my side and spread around to my back and stomache...looked just like that too!!!
Hi everyone! I completed treatment on 1.27.11 and I am still struggling with itching and open sores. I had been using Gold Bond Triple therapy but I have recently switched to Eucerin Calming Cream. Does anyone have experience with this rash? How long before my Neuts and WBC's come up to help with the healing process? Will I continue to break out as I am noticing new areas of break out now? The majority of this is on my back and sides with a few on on legs and arms.
Around ten days after my IGM results i developed a rash on my back and went to the doctor and he diagnosed me with shingles and gave me famcyclovir. i waited eighty days after my possible exposure at the gentlemans club and took an Herpes immunoassay gG2 test for herpes 2 and it came back negative. My question is could the famcyclovir that i took 6 1/2 weeks before my herpes 2 test have effected my test results where i could have got false negative or it wouldnt have effected my antibodies ?
a few tiny red dots not in clusters, no pain, but general itching around the head and on the foreskin and redness and itching at the base of the penis. Maybe 2-3 tiny red dots in the pubic area above my penis. Again not clusterered or painful or scabbing. A little redness at the tip of the urethra Tried the OTC anti-fungal for a week no releief. Dr. Gave me Rx version of anti-fungal and steroidal cream. Itching went away after 7 days and symtoms subsiding.
He thought it could be ringworm considering my medical history (I'll explain later). I feel it might be eczema or even shingles. I've had ringworm before and it wasn't anything like this. What started out as 8-10 itchy bumps has covered my entire thumb between the middle and bottom joint. It has even started wrapping around the inside and is almost entirely connected in a full circle. This is week 5 and it has passed my bottom joint. It is so itchy. The Dr.
, my stool was always soft, but not quite diarrhea, I started getting ringworm around the groin area, I started getting pimples on the scalp, my throat became tight with wheezing during cold weather and exercise, and I had to have a nap nearly every afternoon. All of these symptoms never came together in my mind. I blamed the itching on the diuretic, the soft stool on my heavy intake of hot peppers, Tabasco, poor diet, etc.
She drew 5 vials of blood to test for everything from syph to thyroid, diabetes to an Igg type 2 and kidney functions. Also a script for fluconazole and a cortisone cream triamcinolone acetonide to go with the ketonoazole. The most pain in where I have the crease where my thigh meets my torso and there is only a very slight rash visible. I'm also back to the lower back pain.... Don't be surprised if I hop a plane and show up next week (I'm serious).
Ended up getting nystatin and triamcinolone and used it for about 5 days. On 5th day my right testicle was feeling heacy and in pain and my right leg felt numb. Went into er and nothing they could do. Gave me a urethra swab to see if anything got inside and that was negative. Things looked ok but still have dull pains here and there in the pelvic area. So we are at 4 weeks now and i start to get flu like symptoms. Couldnt eat felt nauseas.
The only place the rash has not traveled to at this poing is my face and my feet. If you look at the pictures and imagine what you see EVERYWHERE excet a few spots here and there (none on my left underside of forearm but on the right - none on my feet) - that is what 80% of my body looks like. i run a low grade fever at night. I have made the decision to stop taking Incivek as of tomorrow.
Applying Hydrogen Peroxide, rubbing alcohol, Tea-Tree Oil, and Betadine on it multiple times a day; showering every day, and also changing my clothing and pillow/bed sheets constantly; making sure to NEVER touch or scratch the infections; and applying warm-compresses using a cloth soaked in vinegar a few times a day (to prevent bacterial growth and remove the crusts). Nothing seems to be working, and it is now spreading to other parts of my body.
By the way, I've read Herpes Zoster (Shingles) CAN affect both sides of the body.. There's been a few tested (biopsy) and they had it on both sides of their body. They say that's a severe case.. I have had chicken pox so I guess it's possible. I have one bump on my arm but all the rest are on my hands (both, though one is almost always worse than the other) and these bumps/blisters ARE sensitive to heat..
He gave me some cortizone cream for my back rash It's called Fluocinonide 0.05 and he gave me Triamcinolone acetonide that you put on the sores in your mouth. My mouth is better so is my rash. So don't feel lonely I have the same thing. I am slowly getting through it just day by day. May God bless and keep you through this horrible mess. I know God is there to help me and everyone always. Keep in touch..
They lasted for two weeks, and spread up between my breasts into my neck area. I thought I had shingles, at first, but showed it to my daughter-in-law, who is a nurse, and she told me that it appeared to be an allergic reaction. It itched, burned and kept me awake night after night, with no relief, reguardless of the application of hydrocortisone cream, cold compresses, benedryl, etc. I tried everything to get rid of it.
It reappears with severe stress. I think it is Shingles and NOT scabbies. Shingles is a dormant virus in the herpes family that can occur in ANYONE who has had chicken pox. same symptoms as described. I am pregnant again and it is happening as we speak. I do not get them often but only when I am REALLY stressed. please talk to your doctors about this possibility.
For recurring itchy spot on my hand, my doctor last resort before dermatology clinic was Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream. I used it for a week and haven't had any problems with itchy recurring bump since. That's been over a month ago. After having that persistent problem for 9 months, it's a relief not to feel self conscious about it.
