Avatar f tn m almost 5 weeks in from recovering from a tramadol addiction. Please be aware that tramadol is very hard to withdrawal from. They may last a little longer but it's so worth it! Gabapentin was prescribed to me for 6 days and was a God send but is NOT the answer and especially not for everyone.
Avatar n tn Starting the Cymbalta may reduce your withdrawal to some extent, as Cymbalta is a serotonin (and norepinephrine) reuptake blocker, and some of the withdrawal from Tramadol comes from changes in serotonin activity. The withdrawal is not 'dangerous', so do your best to avoid concentrating on them. Distraction is one thing that can help reduce withdrawal symptoms. I would expect them to continue for one to two weeks at the most.
Avatar m tn Hey guys, Im new here and wanted some advice. Ive been taking Tramadol and Hydrocodone together for about three months off and on, perscribed of course, then I started reading how bad withdrawals can be from the Tramadol, so I quit taking it cold turkey with little side effects. Now I'm getting ready to quit this Hydrocodone, just a little scared from withdrawal and what to expect. will it be bad after just three months. averaged about 40 mgs. daily.
Avatar m tn Tramadol is a synthetic opiate, and it is addictive. You are not taking a lot, so it might not be so bad. If this is your first time, and you have not been abusing your script, I would think that you should probably be ok. I remember the first time I quit, I was taking a much heavier dose of hydrocodone, but the w/ds ended quickly. I am no professional, but if you want to quit, I would encourage you to go a day without your pill and see how you feel.
Avatar m tn After taking 150 mg tramadol for 2 1/2 years, and tapering for 4 months, how long will withdrawal last? This discussion is related to Tramadol withdrawal.
Avatar f tn You have to stop taking the Tramadol 100%, before your sleep will return to normal. Taking Tramadol will only put you back at square one all over again. You have to get off 100% and HEAL. Your sleep is not going to return to normal unless you quit Tramadol 100%, then go 2-4 weeks without it. But 7 years is a long time to be on them. Did you do a Taper down to 1 pill per day at least before you quit? Or did you just try to go Cold Turkey for a while?
Avatar f tn My doctor replaced 1/2 of my daily Tramadol dose with Vicodin and I continued that for a year. I did get very uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms from the Tramadol when that switch was made. However... My doctor a year later completely took me off the Tramadol and replaced it with Morphine ER with Percocet for break through pain and I had no withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Tramadol at all!!!
Avatar f tn he then gave me TRAMADOL 50mg and said to alternate 4 Norco 3 TRAMADOL ..this is my of 2nd week of alternating 3 TRAMADOL, 3 NORCO every 4 hours....but am confused on how to taper off both drugs......I want to be off pain meds.....any suggestions? I also take NEURONTIN 300mg 3 times a day will I need to taper off these too? Help.....
Avatar f tn A friend of mine gave me her Tramadol to try and I was assured that she had been taking it on and off for years with O withdrawal. I took it for almost 2 months while grieving the loss of my dog. I decided on Monday to stop all together and could not believe how awful I feel. NOTHING like coming off of Oxy, but still extremeley uncomfortable and "couch bound", flu symptoms and horrible headache. I could not believe it.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 24 year old registered nurse, and I have read all of these postings and researched tramadol, and have realized that I am addicted to it. I have recently been experiencing dizziness, a feeling like I'm coming out of my skin, diarrhea and nausea. I never would have believed it was tramadol withdrawal. I just took my normal dose of it, and my symptoms are gone, I'm taking that as a big sign of addiction.
Avatar f tn Anyone willing to talk with me during my tramadol withdrawal

Avatar n tn So after a few days, any withdrawal you feel is going to be a tramadol withdrawal and not a hydrocodone withdrawal. And yes, it will be worse, there are many more horror stories about tram than hydrocodone. I had a doctor try to take me off of hydrocodone by giving me tramadol a few years ago when I was stopping meds after a surgery, and the withdrawals were terrible.
Avatar m tn m in day 5 off of the Tramadol and thinking I might as well tough it out. Threw the rest of my Tramadol out. How much longer can I expect to not sleep?
Avatar f tn So, I'm just wondering how long withdrawal from Tramadol usually lasts. I have been doing a lot better lately; the brain zaps are very infrequent, and I usually feel okay on just 2mgs of Suboxone a day. I want to stop taking the Sub when the withdrawal from Tramadol should be over, but I heard that Tramadol withdrawal lasts longer than opiates. I'm getting excited because I might not even need an SSRI, as I am feeling much better from the Serotonin withdrawal symptoms.

Avatar f tn I found this on Wiki and it does say it is and opiod and also says this - Tramadol is associated with the development of physical dependence and a severe withdrawal syndrome.[59] Tramadol causes typical opiate-like withdrawal symptoms as well as atypical withdrawal symptoms including seizures. The atypical withdrawal symptoms are probably related to tramadol's effect on serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake.

Avatar f tn Is there any medication that a doctor will give me to get over the withdrawals of Tramadol while I continue to work? I have been on Tramadol for 10 years and it is about time to stop. I want to continue to work and take withdrawal meds but not sure if there is anything a doctor will give me.
Avatar n tn Finally was able to take the medicine and all of the withdrawal symptoms disappeared! So from my experience, Morphine withdrawal was way worse than the Tramadol withdrawal. Unfortunately, many doctors prescribe this medication and say it is not addicting and you can't get dependant on it.
Avatar m tn My wife is in her 4th day of tramadol withdrawal. She was taking 16 tramadol a day for 2 years. She has her first seizure in november and was still taking tramadol. She had her second seizure three days ago and was put on some type of seizure meds and quit tramadol cold turkey. She now hasnt slept for 2 and a half days in addition to her other symptoms. The Dr. prescribed her a sleeping pill tonight but she still cant sleep. I dont know what else to do.
