You should ask your dr to increase your dose as your on a reltivity low dose or ask for some hydro to take in between the tramadol. I used to take the hydro and tramadol and take one at one dose then the other at another dose. Like take the hydro in the morn and then 4 or 5 hrs later take the tramadol. This gives you more relief too.
the only way i found it was by searching on yahoo for a tramadol addiction forum. Anyways, this is really hard for me to say, but I've been using tramadol for about 3 years now. It started when I was feeling depressed, was looking for something to stop my hurting and grabbed some pills that were supposed to be non-addictive pain killers from my job. It started out just 2 or 3 at a time, a few times a day. At the end... I could easily be taking 25 pills at a time, more than once a day.
I have never taken more than the maximum dose prescribed. If anything, I have taken less. However, I am at the point now where I am noticing that although my headaches are essentially gone, I am having to sacrifice in other areas. As mentioned before by one of the other posters, I have had some mental/memory fogginess. I have had night sweats when trying to taper off. So badly, that I thought I was in early menopause, saw my gynecologist and went for bloodwork.
Tapering off my current regimine of 200 mg a day of tramadol is my goal. Insight to lowering high doses capsules of 100 mg each to nothing over the course of a week would be welcome.
And I never even got to the maximum dose that my doctor originally prescribed, which was up to 8 a day! I know that things will get better...our bodies have the amazing ability to recover with time, exercise and rest. I will never again discount the benefit and necessity of exercise! I have been walking every morning for about 30 minutes.
The first one said her 1st seizure was resolved and when she had her second and third one he would never call me back or push up her appt date. The first Dr put her on Gabipentin and a small dose of tramadol for the two months she was seeing him. As i said when she had a second and third seizure he would not call back or move up her appt in may. Big city Dr. i guess. Anyway when i brought her to a new Dr. he put her on Dylantin and took the tramdol away.
50 mg of tramadol is contained in each regular pill or non-extended release pill. The maximum pharmaceutical dose that can be taken daily of regular tramadol is 400 mg (two 50 mg pills 4x a day).
The maximum dose is 400mg a day, if your taking 50mg pills 4 would be 200mg, so your taking half the daily maximum. But a word of caution, this stuff can be very addictive for some people, even at low doses. Your body's become use to it, that's why you have the pain when you try to cut back. If you want to get off of it, you're going to have to taper it down gradually, and it might take some time.
Hey Drangonboy I am struggling with Tramadol myself, I was given it whilst in hospital with severe Endomitriosis just over a month ago, I was taking 400mg per day which I believe is the maximum dosage. I was discharged with 100 50mg tablets, so stayed on the maximum dose as no one told me otherwise. When I was close to running out got a repeat prescription from my doctor who mumbled something about coming off them under medical supervision then he went on holiday for three weeks.
I am probably one of the longest-running tramadol users (12 years non-stop at the maximum prescribed dose). I was first given it by my rheumatologist way back when it just came out, which I think was like 1997? A few years in, I knew there was a problem, because I would run out of it and then be in agony! I tried to stop on my own, and I actually got from the maximum dose down to about a fourth of the max dose. But I needed help after that.
I have been on tramadol for 11yrs, start right after Sept 11. I asked my doctor was this addictive? he said no!!! he lied here I am 11 years later and still taking the evil pill. I have tried t go cold turkey and the symptoms are horrendous. I finally want to really stop so I am doing it slowly. I am taking 4 to 6 pills a day from 10 to 12. pills.
My prescription records would have shown my usage to be only two thirds of the maximum recommended dose, and that I had been on a stable dose for at least two years. Anyway, the fill-in doctor told me matter-of-factly that she was writing me a script for tramadol to start immediately.
Gday is there anyone in Australia on these forums having trouble with tramadol...I am in Queensland..Thanks Anyone can join in any help is great thanks everbody.......
I swear it felt like I was going to go insane or die at the end. And I was only taking the maximum dose as they told me to. Just try and sleep. The Thomas Detox is great, it works. I hope you have acess to the ingredients. Your husband needs a healthy wife, so hopefully he will start to understand. I am ONLY 4 days past you on cold turey and I was able to (barely) work 5.5 hours today. You can do it. Rest, breath and sleep!
I am prescribed Tramadol 50mg written as take 1-2 tabs every 4-6 hours No more than 8 tablets per day.. So if I was to get 80 of them. . That is a 10 day supply. I actually only take 6 per day. Everytime I call for a refill about 20 mins later a nurse calls me and tells me I'm 2 weeks early and that its a 28 day medication. I say its not a matter of days its an as needed medicine and I can take 8 per day!
First, thanks to all those that post on this board, I've read many threads here about Tramadol addiction and they've been most helpful, and helped make this detox less hellish. The reason I'm posting this new thread rather than adding to the already plentiful threads revolving around the same subject is because I have some additional concerns not already covered in the other posts. I want to know what comes after the Tramadol.
I have been addicted to Tramal for the past 2,5 years and I have decided to once and for all stop these horror pills. I took up to 400mg in one dose and later in the day I would take another 200-300mg.. Yesterday I took 350 and now I decided to stop these pills from hell. Instead I took some gabapentin and valerian root but I am not doing good at all..
I am a mid-aged male whom has been taking Tramadol Hydrochloride for about 2 years. I began taking it to control the paid from back spasms that would occur at least once a week. It was great, providing be the ability to forget about the pain, and be able to work/sleep/live. As time went on, I needed to increase the dosage to manage the pain.
You have to saturate your system in Tramadol before it really does what it's meant to do. You where never on them. Taking a dose here or there is going to do little to nothing. I do plan on going to hydros for about a week or so...after I taper down to 1 Tram a day and jump off. Like I said, you really have to take about 8-12 a day for a couple years or so to understand where a lot of us is coming from. And pray you never do.
I understand about trying to figure out a plan of action, as well, and in spite of the way you've chosen to do things you HAVE decreased your Tramadol dose and nothing can diminish that! I know you're trying...now to get you out of the house!
Today is my 13th day cold turkey detox from a 7 year heavy addiction to Tramadol And Codeine Phosphate. My typical day was 40-50 x 50mg Tramadol, (10x50mg every 90 minutes) then I would "finish" the day with 12-24 x 30mg Codeine Phosphate, 2 "sittings" of 12x30mg, I was prescribed these by my GP after a martial art injury for years, no questions asked, no alternatives sourced, In no time I was hooked to these meds and a typical 2 week prescription was only lasting me 2 days!
It is my understanding (per my doctor) that the maximum recommended safe dose is 400 mg. per day. If at all possible you may want to discuss an alternative med with your doctor(?). In any case, PLEASE proceed with caution.
to get a refill in 10 days from a dose of 120 pills is definately a huge dose. thats 12 pills a day.600mg a day. that's twice the maximum reccommended. above 300-350mg they can cause seizures and other problems. they are addictive as i'm sure you know. they attach to the same receptors as opiates and therefore the body can crave them like opiates. your roomy is in trouble. watch out for your wallet.
The Drug Fact Sheet published by the mfr of tramadol states that the MAXIMUM dose that should be safely prescribed is 200 mg/day. So your new dr is just following those guidelines. The VERY false information that tramadol is NOT addictive is gradually being proven. In some states, the laws have changed and so have their classification of this drug....but others haven't gotten on board yet. Tramadol is VERY addictive....
In most cases, tramadol withdrawal will set in 12–20 hours after the last dose, but this can vary. Tramadol withdrawal lasts longer than that of other opioids; seven days or more of acute withdrawal symptoms can occur as opposed to typically three or four days for other codeine analogues. --Rarely, dependence may occur after as little as three months of use at the maximum dose—generally depicted at 400 mg per day.
I have been taking the pain killer Tramadol for a little bit over one year...it honestly feels like forever since I take almost 5, 50 mg pills each day. I need one AS SOON as I get up, one maybe two hours after that, one before dinner, and then the last one I need right before I go to bed so I don't wake up at 2 in the morning with restless legs and chills. It's soo awful that it makes me want to cry.
We have created this site as many of us have unanswered questions about Tramadol. We come from different parts of the world on the Tramadol support site....many, of course, in the US and UK. If you'd like to identify your country, it would help when we look at your laws, for example.
tramadol and co-codamol can be taken together. tramadol is a morphine salt based drug which acts on the brains pain receptor. co-codamol comes in different strengths, all with 500mg of paracetamol per tablet. some with 8/15/30 or 60mg codiene. co-codamol acts upon the sensory nerves and motor neurons. when combined these 2 drugs provide very effective relief of moderate to severe pain.
It's just a little frustrating as I have past the addicted stage and don't even think of painkillers at all through the day, it's just that I feel good for what I have achieved as soon as I wake (after a maximum 6hours sleep on a good night)then later in the day I start to slow down, I don't want to take vitamins or supplements orally as the thought of "necking" anything resembling a tablet makes me nauseous so I just want to know the names of goody fruits and veg which I could eat ra
6 times the maximum daily human dosage (246 mg/m2), respectively. Non-teratogenic Effects Tramadol was evaluated in peri- and post-natal studies in rats. Progeny of dams receiving oral (gavage) dose levels of 50 mg/kg (300 mg/m2 or 1.2 times the maximum daily human tramadol dosage) or greater had decreased weights, and pup survival was decreased early in lactation at 80 mg/kg (480 mg/m2 or 1.9 times the maximum daily human dose).
