Avatar m tn am not willing to take it for more than 1 week..
Avatar m tn Hey Drangonboy I am struggling with Tramadol myself, I was given it whilst in hospital with severe Endomitriosis just over a month ago, I was taking 400mg per day which I believe is the maximum dosage. I was discharged with 100 50mg tablets, so stayed on the maximum dose as no one told me otherwise. When I was close to running out got a repeat prescription from my doctor who mumbled something about coming off them under medical supervision then he went on holiday for three weeks.
Avatar n tn I agree pretty much everything the member above wrote. It seems these Doctors and Dentists need to educate themselves a little bit about this drug. You took the drug as prescribed, for I week, and you weren't even taking the maximum dose, and now you're having discomfort when you stopped it. That's terrible and it's not the 1st time I've heard of problems related to a low dose and a short duration.
1178983 tn?1279663655 Tramadol is an opioid analgesic and as such is associated with tolerance, dependence, and abuse even though it is not a considered a controlled substance. Taking an opiate for an extended period of time usually results in some level of dependence and abrupt discontinuation of the medication can lead to withdrawal symptoms resulting in a failed attempt at discontinuation.
Avatar f tn ll be getting 3250 mg of tylenol, the maximum therapeutic dose if 4000 mg per day. So you should make sure you don't exceed the max dose prescribed by your doctor and make sure you don't exceed 4000 mg per day and I would recommend getting your liver checked also here and there. Here is an old thread talking about the differences between Ultram (which is just tramadol) vs. Ultracet (which is lower dose tram with added acet). Hope it is helpful: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn how to ask my pain clinic doctor for higher pain med dose without sounding advantage. She has been good to me. AND I am not looking forward to having to increase. I'd rather Quit altogether but it is not possible.
Avatar f tn The usual starting dose of tramadol extended release is 100 mg once every 24 hours. Your doctor may gradually increase the dose by 100 mg every 2 to 5 days, up to a maximum of 300 mg every 24 hours. The medication may be taken with or without food, but it should be taken consistently (i.e., either always with food or always without food) and with a glass of water. The tablets should be swallowed whole and must not be broken, chewed, or crushed.
Avatar f tn I think the tramadol will be next to useless when on methadone. Your current methadone dose will almost certainly block or severely limit the efficacy of a dose of tramadol. When i was on the methadone they used to hand out 'Pain Cards' These were like medic alert bracelets that had important information regarding adequate pain relief for methadone dependant people.
Avatar m tn I am probably one of the longest-running tramadol users (12 years non-stop at the maximum prescribed dose). I was first given it by my rheumatologist way back when it just came out, which I think was like 1997? A few years in, I knew there was a problem, because I would run out of it and then be in agony! I tried to stop on my own, and I actually got from the maximum dose down to about a fourth of the max dose. But I needed help after that.
Avatar f tn Hello - I took tramadol for a very long time. At first it worked well for me too, but my tolerance grew very quickly and I did become dependent on it, and ultimately ended up heavily addicted. It is my understanding that 8 - 50mg pills per day is the maximum considered "safe" dose. If you are able to stay at this dose and it helps with your pain that is great.
Avatar f tn It is my understanding (per my doctor) that the maximum recommended safe dose is 400 mg. per day. If at all possible you may want to discuss an alternative med with your doctor(?). In any case, PLEASE proceed with caution.
Avatar m tn Tramadol is known to lower the seizure treshold and that risk goes up with increased dosage. The maximum pharmaceutical dose of tramadol is eight 50 mg tablets per day or two 50 mg tablets every 4 to 6 hours. How long has she been taking tramadol? I would suggest that you or your wife contact the prescribing physician of the tramadol and let him/her explain the situation to the physicians at the ER.
Avatar m tn Tapering off my current regimine of 200 mg a day of tramadol is my goal. Insight to lowering high doses capsules of 100 mg each to nothing over the course of a week would be welcome.
Avatar f tn TORADOLORAL is not indicated for use in pediatric patients and it is NOT indicated for minor or chronic painful conditions. Increasing the dose of TORADOLORAL beyond a daily maximum of 40 mg in adults will not provide better efficacy but will increase the risk of developing serious adverse events.
348629 tn?1212325673 , electric-shock-like sensations throughout the body, paresthesias, sweating, palpitations, restless legs syndrome, sneezing, insomnia, vivid dreams or nightmares, micropsia and/or macropsia, tremors, and headache among others. In most cases, tramadol withdrawal will set in 12–20 hours after the last dose, but this can vary.
439522 tn?1214951189 Yes, avisg and I talked about it. I don't plan on using it long, just this week. The research indicates withdrawal can happen after about two weeks, so that will be my max. I think that can really help with the withdrawal, for sure. The seizures appear to be with taking it, not coming off of it. I read some articles and it talks about seizures with people who are prone to seizures, and those that take over 700mg per day.
1225178 tn?1318980604 The dose is the poison, as it's said in Agriculture. I did not take NSAID's but was allowed 2 extra strength Tylenols twice a day. That is 2 grams. The maximum dose of Tylenol, even for children, is 4 grams, so I felt pretty safe with my doctor's recommendation. Where people get into trouble is when they also have tylenol in their narcotic pain meds, their cough syrups, etc. and don't even realize how much they are taking in total.
Avatar f tn I swear it felt like I was going to go insane or die at the end. And I was only taking the maximum dose as they told me to. Just try and sleep. The Thomas Detox is great, it works. I hope you have acess to the ingredients. Your husband needs a healthy wife, so hopefully he will start to understand. I am ONLY 4 days past you on cold turey and I was able to (barely) work 5.5 hours today. You can do it. Rest, breath and sleep!
Avatar n tn i have been on tramadol in the past and i'm pretty sure that it is not addictive. i think that is one of the reasons they like to prescribe it because it is easy to get off of it. however, i would not advise taking more than the prescribed amount. if the prescribed amount is not working for you then you need to call your doctor and let him know.
Avatar n tn I have been on tramadol for 11yrs, start right after Sept 11. I asked my doctor was this addictive? he said no!!! he lied here I am 11 years later and still taking the evil pill. I have tried t go cold turkey and the symptoms are horrendous. I finally want to really stop so I am doing it slowly. I am taking 4 to 6 pills a day from 10 to 12. pills.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am a chronic back pain sufferer - have been for 16 years. Was put on Tramadol in 1998 after 2 back surgeries. Stayed on low dose for a good number of years. In 2005 pain started getting worse and Tramadol was upped until I was taking the "maximum" dose - 400mg a day. This wasn't enough to stop the pain and although it didn't really change things, pain wise, I was taking 600-700mg a day.
Avatar n tn 100 mgs of tramadol is actually below the recommended dose for pain as 200 mgs a day is the nrom....but the fact that u googled and found this forum is a cue that u may have a problem...why would ur doctor think u have a problem at that dose? no one judges here ..
Avatar f tn Gday is there anyone in Australia on these forums having trouble with tramadol...I am in Queensland..Thanks Anyone can join in any help is great thanks everbody.......
537843 tn?1213664232 So your TSH was maybe 70 or 80 before you started taking Levoxyl. Were you started on a high dose? How long have you been taking 200mcg? I have been there. I have had my TSH drop 40 points in a week after getting on the right dose of meds. But I went from post RAI no meds straight to 100mcg, which is what my body wanted. Within six weeks my TSH was between 1.0 and 2.0. That's why I said you may need a dosage increase.
Avatar f tn You should ask your dr to increase your dose as your on a reltivity low dose or ask for some hydro to take in between the tramadol. I used to take the hydro and tramadol and take one at one dose then the other at another dose. Like take the hydro in the morn and then 4 or 5 hrs later take the tramadol. This gives you more relief too.
