if he becomes angry, that is a good indication of a problem. There are 'professional interventionists' out there but that is probably jumping the gun. The best initial approach might be to explain your observations-- stick to the ones that are clearly observable if possible. You will likely hear many reasons and excuses; listen and then say 'I can't change you-- that is your business. I just wanted to express my support and concern. If I can ever help let me know'.
I don't know this for a fact, but I would be willing to bet that Suboxone would override Tramadol, resulting in no real effect from Tramadol. Both Suboxone and Tramadol are active at the mu receptor on the brain. Since Suboxone has a very high affinity for this receptor, it would already have the receptor full and I doubt that Tramadol would kick it out. The chances of going into withdrawal are very high.
Hi there, have gone cold turkey off tramadol 200 SR. It has been 12 days now and am still suffering with bad withdrawals, like nausea, restless legs, sneezing, etc. Anyone any idea how long symptoms will last ?
If the tramadol is working to control your depression, it would be worthwhile seeing your doctor to discuss getting a script for effexor which is the chemical structural equivalent of the antidepressant in tramadol. Tramadol is a poor medium to long term med choice for many people as the opioid part of the drug leads to tolerance & frequently to updosing. Effexor can also be hard to withdraw from but can also work well to control depression without the tolerance problems of tramadol.
I have a step-daughter who is addicted to Ultram (Tramadol). She is currently in rehab, however, I am relatively certain that she is still using. She just had another seizure yesterday and I am also aware of the fact that she has no history of seizure without this particular drug. I am wondering if anyone can tell me anything at all about this addiction - including what I can look for as a sign that she is still using or is, in fact clean.
I have been taking tramadol and percocet for about 5 years now, 240 tramadol a month and 90 percocet a month.originally given for a back condition, but mostly used to feel good.Taking these pills is great,I can work harder, get along better with people and generally feel much better when Im on them.I typically go thru the all the tramadols in about 7-10 days and the percocets last about 5-7 days.
I was a heavy Tramadol user...While I agree with everything the other posters have said, Tramadol also has a built-in anti-depressant similar to Effexor, so your body is adjusting to loosing more than just an opiate. There is no real easy way out of this except to stay on track. The ups and downs come and go but gradually get better and better and you will have more good days as time goes on. Exercise is really important in helping your body rewire itself.
There is a good tramadol mixed with acetaminophen called tramadol acet. It's 37.5mg tramadol and 325mg acetaminophen. Since the tramadol dose is relatively low in tramadol acet I would use this one since she's already on Pristiq.
I discovered this thread just last night (5/3/13) reading up on the Thomas Recipe and peoples reactions and WD's getting off of Tramadol. You all seem like a very knowledge, caring bunch and I'd like to perhaps make some friends around here, if you'll have me. May I share a little about myself with you all? 37 year old SAHM, 2 little boys: one 3, one 5, hubby works full time managing a restaurant. That's now.
I've been taking Tramadol for over 3 years now, but only taking it as prescribed. But that means that I've been taking it every 4 to 6 hours for 3 years. At one time (about 2 yrs ago) I had some "reserves" of it and I was taking more than I should for quite a while and decided to stop taking it, cold turkey. (NOTE: Duirng this binge I didn't request any refills, so my doctor denied any refills after that.
Dx'd eight years ago with ankylosing spondylitis (severe back pain) and Rx'd Indocin and Tramadol. Felt fine on Indocin alone, no side effects to this day...but took Tramadol for a headache seven years ago and got the Rx and have been on it ever since.] Hi. Last week I started my tapering off of Tramadol. I was taking 200mg/day for the past seven years. I stopped taking one full 50mg pill every late afternoon about six days ago, so I'm now just doing two pills in the a.m.
Hi there, i need to talk to someone who was successful at stopping Tramadol cold turkey while pregnant. I am 33 weeks pregnant and my doctors will not do a slow taper so i have no choice but to quit CT.

Hi Friends; Holy Mother of Tramadol FOG! Early morning and all morning has been ... the height of suckiness. It got better once I just cried. I felt better after that. I think now alot of the emotional stuff is hitting me. I'm not numbed by a drug and I have 5 years of emotional cellular storage to work thru I think. May I Trust Higher Power to restore me to sanity!? I got an email this morning from my Mother who says she's coming here in September? I can't even think that far in advance.
Welcome Everyone!
Have seen several people have seizures when TAKING tramadol. AND, every tramadol related seizure I saw did not seem related to how high a dose the person was taking; RATHER was in instances where someone markedly INCREASED their dose. I think the confusion is in that seizures are common when withdrawing from sedatives (alcohol, barbiturates, benzodiazapines etc). Rare in opiate withdrawal.

Alright fellow TRAMADOL warriors I FINALLY have some idea as to which States now list tramadol as a controlled substance in the USA. Those states include: (1) Kansas, (2) Kentucky, (3) North Dakota, (4) Ohio, and (5) Wyoming. And I have found some indication that at least two other states; Georgia and MA have listed this as a dangerous drug. If any of you know differently, please let us know.
My friend is taking alot of pain meds all different kinds from Darvon to Methadone could he be addicted he is now taking Tramadol that he got off the net I am worried should I be none of the meds have bee prescribed to him he gets them from friends off the net where ever. She gave me lortab for my migraines (which seem worse the tylenol 3 wasn't helping, I used to take tramadol pre-preg but they don't like to use it during pg) and she gave me promethazine for the nausea (had me so sick yesterday I probably had a whole half a snadwich all day) I also had awful diarrea the kind with explosive stomach cramps. Rough day. Anyone have any names picked out yet??
I agree with the above poster- the heartbeat is not a good indication whether baby is healthy- it's an indication that baby is ALIVE, which is the first step, but you need to get regular ultrasounds- even a 4D ultrasound if you can afford it - to ensure the physical stuff is fine. Sometimes, just like another poster said, we do not want to hear things that are true and accurate. It ***** being pregnant and being responsible for another life- and being an addict at the same time.
I see my family doctor Friday......... and I am taking pain medication-- Ultram/Tramadol....... and something else odd..... is that I will have these spells off and on where I pour the sweat........... I am not jaundiced.... I am not vomiting....... No fever........... Just pain all over the right side..... and two days w/ white-looking bowel movements. I have been taking Mylanta -- that white stuff--- and helps some, I think------- but I am not sure..........
Your sister is probably OK, but it's never a good indication when the staff is too busy (or lazy?) to pick up the phone. Can you manage a trip tomorrow?
If u have more pressure when u lie down it is an indication if ICP....try to elevate the head of ur bed so u r not lying flat.... Since u had the leak from pressure in a plane, I am curious as to what ur Drs had to say ....what they did next? I would suspect they would RX a LP to check for ICP.
Anyway, I hope this goes away soon and I don't have to feel this for many more months. Has anyone else experienced this? If this is any indication of what my old age will be like, OMG I dread it.
