Avatar m tn And though avisg is also correct that tramadol is not normally prescribed for RLS we are all different. What works for one does not necessarily work for another and visa versa. Who knows why it successfully controlled your RLS symptoms. That is not important. Your concern is justified. What now? Your physician hasn't added an antidepressant to your medication regime has he? As you know they can make the symptoms worse.
Avatar n tn Ive never really taken anything for rls although Ive had them many times so I can speak from experience about how things work. I did however use suboxone for about 5months so I do know about the w/d's and how hard they can be. For me the days 2-7 were the worst, I couldnt sleep, my legs were out of control and I was using the restroom alot, even though I was taking immodium. Overall I didnt have too bad of an experience compared to other opiate w/d's from oxycontin/methadone.
401095 tn?1351391770 It was real bad for the first week. Now it is only once in a while. It is probably different for everyone.
Avatar m tn I have been taking tramadol for three and a half years for a severe case of restless leg syndrome. It has always worked well for the rls symptoms. My problem is I am now taking 400mg a day and the medication is no longer working. I tried tapering and the rls was raging I couldn't sleep or work. At this point I don't know what to do. My doctor wanted me to try Norco but I feel I would be in the same boat. I am an alcoholic with twenty nine years of sobriety.
Avatar m tn The hydro has cured my RLS which I have been taking Ambien for for 5 years. The problem is that I have full blown RLS anyway and the w/d has compounded the RLS to epic proportions. I have only had 2 hours of sleep in the last 2 days. A quick story about labeling addicts. I make a very nice 6 figure income and have 2 full time positions in an extremely professional field. I always thought it wouldn't happen to me. It did.
410406 tn?1209480659 Clonodine does work for RLS. It's great you are down to 3 from 15. The tired feeling is just part of it. Be careful with the xanax, I became addicted to that on top of opiates and it is really dangerous to come off of. If you are only taking one a night though, and can keep it at that good for you, because it will help you sleep and also help the RLS. Congratulations!
Avatar m tn I was not able to walk for days and even sleep was difficult and for more than a week I could sleep only seat on a chair with a pillow on my leg, elbows on the pillow, my head in my hands. But I had no RLS until about 10 day ago. In January I had a couple of night when I slept for 12 hours without interruptions. As my osteopath said rls was possibly overshadow by the pain. Now I gave up those treatment as the pain is nearly gone although I lost mass/muscle in my right leg both thigh and calf.
Avatar m tn Hi. Obviously you know the badness of tram......but you're in a bad situation. You need off of heroin too, right? Yes. If I were you, I would speak to a doctor about some other meds to help support you during WD. You won't have them for too much longer. A few more days at most. The tramadol WD can last for weeks. Are you trying any of the Thomas Recipe stuff? Some of the OTC things help a lot with the symptoms. What is the worst symptoms so far? Nausea, RLS???
Avatar f tn Melatonin actually helps with RLS, according to the Mayo Clinic... Chances are the Ambien helped you sleep through it before. Keep trying the melatonin, it's a really safe, natural thing your body already uses...
621711 tn?1223570604 It will be like other WD it is worse for lots of poeple it has been the worst WD for me.Depression can be overwheming bad rls and panic attacks the rest is run of the mill discomfort.
Avatar m tn t want to rely on this. Also, for RLS, you would only need a couple at night I would think so taking 6 a day I would think is because you are building a tolerance or are also enjoying the other side effects of energy, etc. That all goes away soon. You become more a fog head then productive energy. It has bad withdrawals...stop while you are ahead. But you CAN do this. You do not have to comprimise your sobriety..I didnt and I am on day 10 of tram free. God bless.
Avatar f tn This will be the fifth time I am going CT. I tried it last month and got so tired from no sleep and RLS and arms were driving me crazy, so I gave in when a "friend" called me and bought some Lortab 10's. I now have no more resources, either for more pills or money, so here I am again, getting ready to go c/t. I was wondering if you can use tramadol to get through the first 5 days without getting addicted to them. Just use them to help with sleep and RLS.
Avatar m tn So then I took a motrin, and that made my aches feel better , but messed up my stomache worse. I only took 1 or 2 50 mg of tramadol a day for 11 months, so I am so suprised at how bad I feel. Can anyone tell me what are good home remedies of medicine to help this out? for example is imodium ad good for the diareeha? Please, I am desperate. I have 15 pills left, and a pool party at my house on the 16th. ...how long should this last?
Avatar m tn hi. i have been on 200mg of tramadol a day for 4 years. i was given the tramadol because i had to have major surgery as my uterus ruptured carrying my 3rd baby. i cant take them anymore as they contain lactose and they have been making me feel very poorly. i am now on day 4 of going cold turkey and i feel like im losing my mind and control of my body.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Requip for RLS, which I had so bad with my Tramadol withdrawal, I would rock and bounce for hours during both the day and night. I had RLS for at least 6 hours or more a day for almost a month. I took the Requip for the first 40 days, now I take it 2x a week. My doc said after I hit 2 months or more off the opiates, we can talk about me jumping off the Requip all together.
Avatar f tn I guess I am using this board for emotional support, as these last two days have been very hard physically and emotionally. I have been on tramadol for the last 4 years for severe migraines. Whenever I would try and go off them I would have severe restless legs and insomnia...and that would be my driving force to refill that prescription and start taking the pills again. I would only take 4 pills a day and that is how it was prescribed to me.
Avatar f tn Bananas, hot baths with epsom salts and Hylands Leg Cramps (homeopathic with quinine) are all good for RLS. Exercise too if you can force yourself to do it...Just a walk around the block. I'm 27 days opiate free-and detox is hard but it's the best thing to do for yourself along with getting support and aftercare like NA/AA to help prevent you getting back on the merry-go-round. Lots of wisdom and support here so post whenever you need to.....
Avatar f tn Thanks - for some dumb reason I just assumed that RLS affected just legs.
544292 tn?1268882668 Hi Tramadol Warriors, Many people have come here for many years, giving support and getting support. Because I still believe that Tramadol is unique in it's ... terror and torture of humans, this thread continues. The people who can understand what you are going thru are the people who have kicked it and there's people here who come back to lend a hand. You also will never need an understanding ear as much. You can do it. You can quit. You do not need to be a slave to Tramadol.
Avatar f tn I do not believe there is a cure for RLS. Does the medications help him at all? Also has he tried the infusions of RLS medications that you get every six months or so?
Avatar m tn Hot baths work well for the RLS. Some people take antihistamines, but for some it can actually make RLS worse..I am surprised at your symptoms actually. Did you stop taking anything else at or near the same time?
Avatar f tn t believe anyone has mentionned gaba, yet it is supposed to be a sleeping and calming amino. does anyone know if it helps? i am thinking rls is a brain thing and maybe there is an amino for it.
Avatar m tn Tramadol is a tough one. Since you took it for so long you probably should have done a slower taper. Anyway it may take a couple weeks to get your sleep back and the RLS to go away. Try eating a banana everyday....theres something called Hylands that OTC thats helps with the legs. A long hot bath before bed could help too. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I beg to differ about low it on I'm on the highest iron pill and still have rls.
1039436 tn?1255523662 Hi when I was 30 I started having rls and insomnia yrs went by and nothing worked. Then for my bipolar a doctor gave me serequol. I slept and it helped with rls especially if I took a xanax at betime. That was during a time when I was sober just not sleeping . It helps relax me also. But I had never slept thru the night. Maybe your dr could give you some of that. It knocks a lot of people on there but, I am a very hyper person. Worth a try helps with depression also.
Avatar m tn I could do this if it weren't for the darn rls. I don't have many in my possession. I just gotta get my crap together and let it go once and for all.
