Avatar f tn I have been having acute back and nerve pain for many years, after a failed spinal operation. I am currently taking 50 Mcg.patches of Fentayl plus 50 Mgs of Tramadol.. 4 times a day. My primary care doctor has now prescribed adding 50 mg of Lyrica, twice a day. Can I start the Lyrica while still on the patches and Tramadol and How can I reduce the Tramadol while continuing Fentayl with the Lyrica with minimalTramadol withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar m tn Again I know that there are many other first line medicines for nerve pain that most of whcih Ive tried, neurontin, lyrica, amitrypilline, acupuncture and some others, but I dont want to go use any sort of opiate for pain. So has anyone who has taken klonopin who had some kind of nerve pain get any relief???? That is the question. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I hope the injections do work for you, in the mean time because your problem is a nerve one as well as localised pain ask your Dr about gabapentin which can help with nerve pain (still need other pain killers but they, like tramadol can be taken alongside the gabapentin. Take care.
Avatar f tn Has anyone here experienced nerve damage from long term tramadol/opiate use? I have read that this is possible. I am having tingling pain in my shoulder blades and soreness down my spine. Any experiences??
Avatar f tn Tramadol is not a strong pain reliever in my opinion. Plus it has many unwanted side effects for a lot of people, me included. I haven't been on Lyrica, but I've heard that helps a lot of people with nerve pain. There are more medications that are much more effective in treating pain. You are in the UK, so I do not know the protocol with pain management with your doctors. My best advice to you is go to your doctor and let them know that your pain is not being managed well.
446097 tn?1223694666 I have been working really hard at the gym and with PT and am feeling better chronic pain wise. The other times I have tried to stop the Norco the nerve pain came back with a vengeance. This time is different as I feel the neck pain and back pain has subsided to a manageable level. I am taking Lyrica at night (nerve inhibitor) which has been great! As you know, the WD's are nasty and I have had this bottle of Tramadol lying around for months.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your response. As I taper off tramadol, will the pain get worse? The burning nerve pain is actually benzo withdrawal symptom. Doctors did not know this when they prescribed tramadol. It helped at first, but then it didn't. Was scared to stop it because of horror stories online about coming off of it. Appreciate you!
Avatar f tn Yes it does sound like RSI and it can radiate into your wrist area. RSI is hard to get rid of as I have had it for years. Try icing it for 20 mintues at a time. It probably is both inflammation and a nerve entrapment. A shot of cortisone into the joint may help a lot instead of tramadol. You can't take tramadol forever. For me I started having trouble with tramadol after about a month so I got off of it but then I got withdrawal for about a week. You basically feel lousy coming off of it.
Avatar n tn Can you support your statement ''It damages nerves''? Tramadol is useful at treating nerve pain such a diabetic neuropathy, trigeminal neuralgia etc. Yes it's hard to get off it as it's both a SNRI and a opioid.
Avatar f tn The neurologist has prescribed Tramadol for the pain. By relieving the pain in this manner am I facing replacing one drug for another? I have never in my life misused any prescribed drug and have never taken any illegal substance. I feel secure in my sobriety however I've read you can become addicted to Tramadol even when you take it as prescribed. The doctor is aware that I've had a problem with alcohol in the past. Opinions please.
Avatar m tn ve been suffering from chronic neck and back pain for the past 4 years and have had lots of nerve blocks, denervations and botox injections done - nothing has really helped. I've been given Tramadol ER 200mg x twice a day by my Dr and they seem to be working but are making me feel weird/really tired/tinnitus/tearful. Should I keep taking them And how long shall I give them before I know if they are really for me? Thank you all very much.
Avatar f tn If the anti-inflamitory aspect of the ibuprofen helps, then it probably is sciatica, and you can use ibuprofen (within reason) for most of the pain, and only use the tramadol when the pain gets intollerable.
Avatar m tn My doctor wrote me a script for Mobic to help with some nerve pain. Im wondering if anyone knows if its similar to tramadol at all, Im hoping not, but anyone who has any helpful info please let me know. I cant start back on opiates again for the pain and Ive heard too many bad stories about tramadol to even consider it as an alternative. Also if anyone knows of anything that helps nerve pain, Im open for any suggestions. Hope everyone is well, thanks.
1391401 tn?1280158300 I do not beleive there is an effective OTC medication for nerve pain. Nerve pain is difficult to treat and it usually treated with the Gabapentin type medications and narcotics. I think I have tried every OTC medication there is and nothing was effective. I am sorry that you stopped taking the Tramadol without your PMP advice. If I understand your post correctly it was managing the pain better. often it takes a combination of medications to successfully reduce nerve pain.
798548 tn?1237503653 so because i am waking with horrible pounding headaches and have pulsatile tinnitus all the time and because i am on tramodol for neck pain shoulder pain, and because i have tons of nerve pain he wants me to try the ametriptyline, but i read about all the horrible side affects you can have taking them i am afraid to take them. i was on neurontin before and had very bad reaction to it. i appreciate you both writing to me and your experiences.
Avatar f tn My family member said she has a drug called gabapentin and said maybe it would help me thru the tough part of my wd. As its a med for nerve pain. The worst is the crawly skin for me..anyone had any experience. I don't want to take something that is going to minimize the pain then once I stop taking that it come on stronger than before. As I've heard with people taking tramadol for wd. Please advise.
Avatar f tn I was referred to an orthopedic neurologist. I was asked to try Tramadol for the pain, which only worked for a small period of time. My MRI highlighted disc movement in C4-C5, but she said it shouldn't have been in the left side and it shouldn't have been as severe. The epidural in my neck failed utterly. All it did was take up some absences in classes at school. She put me on neurontin. It helped, like Tramadol, for about a month and utterly failed.
Avatar f tn I have persistent, severe nerve pain. It's left-side burning, electric-like pain, mostly from shoulder down left arm, but can be on face, head, hip, leg. Also deep stabbing pain around left shoulder blade and under left ribs. Sometimes it's a 10+. Ranges from 4 to 10. Dx with RRMS in '97, very active 10+ years after, but on disability since 2008. Take Rebif, on brk from Tysabri.
Avatar m tn She was taking medicines for nerve for a long time. Just before corona, she was having some itchy feeling in her throat. Due to corona, we were unable to visit doctors. Now we tried many here and their doctors. One allergy test has been done and found allergy positive and the doctor told her not to eat most of the types of food. But right now the itchy feeling is gone and for a few months, it has been converted to chest pain and throat pain. She is having pain all the time.
Avatar n tn Fentanyl patches can be very effective for severe chronic pain, and there is a low risk of abuse. If you need pain relief for nerve damage, ask you PM Dr. about the patch.
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with left shoulder pain for approximately 10 months - I've seen several doctors, had x-rays, MRIs, bone scan, EMG and nerve conduction tests all to come back normal. Just this week, the pain in my left shoulder has started to improve while the shooting pain down my arm on the right side has started to occur. Could this be a pinched nerve in my neck? What should my next step be? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn *It's been like this for 3 weeks.
Avatar n tn I hate to say it but if you get them changed like that you will be in alot more pain. This is just my option. Tramadol did nothing for me. I know it is more for nerve pain, that is why my father inlaw is taking it.
Avatar m tn Next week I am scheduled to go in for nerve testing and to set a date for surgery.currrently I am taking tramadol andperkocet for the pain and trazadone to help me get a little sleep.sleep I am getting but the pain does not let up even withthe pain meds I am taking.what do suggest for relife of this pain and is surgerythe common choice?
Avatar f tn Steroids and NSAIDs should not be given together....A potential gastric bleed is the reason.....The washout phase from one medication to the other is 3 days......Of your choices, I'd definitely combine the Steroids & Tramadol for awhile and see how that goes......
Avatar n tn Neurotin helps my nerve pain, indomethacin helps the bilateral neuropathy of my feet, flexiril helps me relax to sleep and tramadol helps with the general pain; this is the "cocktail" that keeps ME working. BUT everyone is different and must be followed closely by a doctor.
1325193 tn?1450127436 I strugled with pain meds, and finally got on tramadol for the last 6 months. I got very addicted and was taken 20 a day for the last 1 1/2- 2 months. I am now 12 days clean, because of the Lord, and now have a pain that I didn't have before. On my right side in my lower back right above my butt. It feels likes a constant dull pain and gets a little worse when I sit. When I sit and lean forward, I can really feel it. It is not crying pain but it does hurt.
Avatar f tn I want to know if anyone continued to have their body pain/nerve pain past the 1st three months after treatment? Don't go to a Neurologist they dont believe about the pain I have. Trying to imply (on 1st meeting) that I probably have a drug/alcohol problem and I am dening it...I refuse to see him again, plus he was going to take me off the Tramadol, because I didn't need it, it's in my head. Well he don't want to see me without my tramadols.
