Avatar n tn I am currently on Keppra and Topiramate and have just been told my latest tests are showing major kidney damage from the topiramate. I have been on these two meds since 2002. I have to admit, reading all this is very scary. NO Other Meds have worked to control my seizures ! PERIOD!! Plus I have severe Migraines and Short term memory is almost gone in a matter of seconds. What is a girl to do? Signed.... Tami....
Avatar m tn However, I was diagnosed with silent migraine or migraine equivalent by my neuro. I was given Topiramate and Maxalt. The Maxalt did absolutely nothing and the Topiramate put me through two weeks of constant dizziness and vertigo not to mention a couple of panic attacks. I quit the Topiramate and had severe withdrawal symptoms that put me in the E.R. Blood work, urinalysis, chest xray, and head CT w/out contrast all checked out fine.
1230912 tn?1273492770 Anyone on this medication? I was diagnosed with cluster headaches when I was 15 and after being on every kind of muscle relaxer under the sun with them not working I gave up and learned to deal with the headaches. Ever since I was put on Extavia I have been having horrible headaches and I really don't know if the DMD is the cause of the worsening or not but ibuprofen was not cutting it anymore.
1104710 tn?1258034139 ok ok , I started topiramate for 2 moths now, the first month the cravings was less, and after a month the doc, change the dosage, now I'm on 50 twice a day, I don't think its working. I haven't lost any weight, does this meds take time?? Should I been seeing result ? am I wasting my time? I really haven't been experiencing the side effects, little bit at first, but nothing to cry about. If anybody have any advice please any is helpful!
Avatar n tn How does Rolaids or tums help with the tingling sensations caused by taking topiramate?
Avatar m tn t know how warfarin is affecting your life style. I have been on warfarin for years and had no concerns about running and bike riding, and using power wood working tools. All of these activities puts one at an increased risk of a cut and bleeding, but I simply take the risk. On the other hand, I don't sky dive, or pick fights ....
Avatar n tn ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
Avatar f tn t help you if your taking medication for your seizures due to me having a relative that has them. It is not safe do to take both birth control and Topiramate due to them mixing up. Topiramate would make the birth control less useful , so it'll be just a regular pill your taking, it won't protect you due to the Topiramate. Hopefully this helps.
Avatar f tn gov listed several studies sponsored by Ortho-McNeil which propose to examine the use of topiramate on migraine, cluster,[18] and severe headaches within various demographics. Other off-label and investigational uses of topiramate include: treatment of bulimia nervosa,[19] obsessive-compulsive disorder, treatment of alcoholism,[20] smoking cessation,[21] Pseudotumor Cerebri, and treatment of neuropathic pain.
Avatar f tn DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WARFARIN CAN LOWER YOUR BLOOD COUNT AND AND ALSO LOWER CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D LEVELS?
Avatar f tn Seven months ago I had a pulmonary embolism and I am told this may have been the second one.I am taking 7 mg of warfarin a day and my INR is 2.5.I had a liver transplant 10 months ago,and was told my vascular system was not great.Given my overall situation I am concerned about heart attacks and strokes.Do you think I should be taking 75mg of aspirin a day as well as the warfarin? Thanks.
Avatar n tn She has been on warfarin and monitors it regularly. She also has past history endometriosis and has always had heavy periods and problems with her periods. She also has uterine fibroids that have been giving her problems, even more so since the warfarin. Between the uterine fibroids and the warfarin, her menses are extremely heavy. She is on iron because she tends to be anemic around her period. Her periods are so heavy that she can go through 4-6 large pads an hour, sometimes more.
612551 tn?1450022175 CoQ-10 is frequently recommended for reducing side effects in patients taking statins ( like Lipitor) and I haven’t heard of anyone on warfarin having issues. I would recommend consulting your doctor first (obviously) and maybe refraining from COQ-10 unless you have some nasty symptoms that you absolutely can’t tolerate which COQ-10 has been shown to alleviate.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I just started topiramate and took my first one two nights ago and that same night was up all night hawking up mucus. Second night I felt stuffy and horrible sore throat and still a ton of mucus. I'm allergic to a lot of perscription meds for cold and stuff so it's hard to find one that will actually work when me when I do. But I can't get into my doctors for a couple more days anyways. It seems to b getting worse each day. It's also raining here.
Avatar m tn I believe it could be a FATAL mistake if you stopped taking the warfarin. Mechanical valves will clot without warfarin and this could cause a heart attack, stroke or heart failure and could cause you to have to have another open heart surgery. PLEASE ,PLEASE talk to your doctor about any changes in the warfarin.
Avatar n tn A drastic change in diet can alter INR also, but in my own personal experience, it has usually been other meds that caused me to need to change my warfarin dosage and not my diet. An INR that is consistently out of range is dangerous. Don't worry about maintaining the same dose of warfarin. Worry about maintaining an INR that is consistently within range. Whatever dose of warfarin you have to take to stay in range is okay.
Avatar f tn Sometimes aspirin is used in place of the Plavix, and the patient will be on aspirin and warfarin. That type of combo regimen is used when the doctor doesn't think that one drug alone is enough to do the job, and one drug obviously wasn't enough in your case. It seems that your Plavix and warfarin regimen is working, so I'll join you in giving thanks for that.
Avatar f tn I am a 36 year young female and was told I have a right parietal meningeoma of 4mm. It is supposed to be in my frontal lobe. About a week later an EEG was done and indicated sharp discharges in both hemispheres of my brain. I have been having horrible headaches since at least 10/20 of this year that get to the point of nausea. They are sharp and never completely go away. Just vary in intensity to more bareable at times than others.
Avatar n tn I have been on Coumadin for 18 years due to Lupus Anticoagulant (Antiphospholipid Syndrome) and several DVTs. In 2005 had MI with occlusion of the LAD artery and had drug stent inserted and I am still on plavix. My doc has debated when to take me off the Plavix safely....what are the recent studies about this dilemma? thanks so much!
Avatar m tn I was sitting on the edge of my bed and then suddenly my vision went all red, like I was wearing red sunglasses, and I fainted and fell onto the for and was out for maybe a minute. when I came to again my vision seemed fine but I was disoriented. I did not have a cluster during this last night but this morning when I woke up I did. I'm used to the clusters and the feet tingling but have never experienced the red vision.
Avatar m tn I was going to a neurologist that specialized in migraines and she gave me Topiramate which totally took away the vertigo and double vision. I get a very slight bit but not the kind that knocks you over now and only a few seconds. I was also told to go to an ENT to rule out Meniers disease and they checked my hearing and looked in my ear and did a CT to rule out a tumor behind the ear called acoustic neuroma. They were all negative. If positive for the Meniers they give you water pills.
Avatar n tn He has recently given me numerous trial medication to see if my current state and headaches would improve including apo-acetazolamide (250 mg) and ratio-topiramate (25mg). With acetazolamide not working, and topiramate worsening my state. After being on topiramate for 3 days, I had a general feeling of confusion, disorientation, trouble with my memory, and trouble concentrating.
561185 tn?1216075940 I am on alot of meds but mostly Warfarin, nexium, Metformin, adn pain pills and muscle relaxers. No my doctor is not a cardio doc. General pract. but followed by my Neuro who is my MS specialist.
Avatar m tn hi there, i am taking warfarin and lately a lot of information i have read has said that guys that are on blood thinners should not uses **** rings. wondering why is this?
Avatar n tn I was put on Warfarin immediately and have been on it ever since. Six weeks after starting the Warfarin, I had another TEE and the clots were 90% gone. They tried for seven and a half hours to do the ablation, but were not successful unfortunately. I will be on the Warfarin forever, but that is fine because you can’t eat leafy green veggies when you are on it and I despise green veggies so now I have the best excuse not to eat them.
