This morning I woke very suddenly and immediately felt great discomfort almost as if I had the flu. After using the bathroom, no vomiting, I laid in bed and felt tremors in my entire body even though it isn't cold in my home. The tremors subsided and even though I was extremely tired I couldn't fall back asleep. I got out of bed and paced around and took anti vert for subsequent dizziness.
I am currently on Keppra and Topiramate and have just been told my latest tests are showing major kidney damage from the topiramate. I have been on these two meds since 2002. I have to admit, reading all this is very scary. NO Other Meds have worked to control my seizures ! PERIOD!! Plus I have severe Migraines and Short term memory is almost gone in a matter of seconds. What is a girl to do?

t help you if your taking medication for your seizures due to me having a relative that has them. It is not safe do to take both birth control and Topiramate due to them mixing up. Topiramate would make the birth control less useful , so it'll be just a regular pill your taking, it won't protect you due to the Topiramate.

Lately I have been having constant anxiety and I rarely worry about things this bad or this long. I believe it is caused by Biotin because I had a similar fit about three years when I stopped taking Biotin, but I did not see a link then; I got prescription Ativan for anxiety took it for only three nights and the problem went away almost instantly.
or it could be the sideeffects from the topiramate i know when i was on it my head neck hurt more when i first started it and tingling it made me worst i had to stop it.some people cant handle it many bad side effects untill your body gets used to it.
I am a 36 year young female and was told I have a right parietal meningeoma of 4mm. It is supposed to be in my frontal lobe. About a week later an EEG was done and indicated sharp discharges in both hemispheres of my brain. I have been having horrible headaches since at least 10/20 of this year that get to the point of nausea. They are sharp and never completely go away. Just vary in intensity to more bareable at times than others.
I have taken pain killers that made my depression worse, and pills for bad stomach that made anxiety go through the roof. I once took Migraleve tablets with anti depressants and had a fit. Very scary. Medication can give all sorts of side effects.
I have had migraines all my adult life and depression for 30 years. You are right, migraines are not half as bad as depression. I just take over the counter pain killers for my migraines now.
I was sitting on the edge of my bed and then suddenly my vision went all red, like I was wearing red sunglasses, and I fainted and fell onto the for and was out for maybe a minute. when I came to again my vision seemed fine but I was disoriented. I did not have a cluster during this last night but this morning when I woke up I did. I'm used to the clusters and the feet tingling but have never experienced the red vision.
I was going to a neurologist that specialized in migraines and she gave me Topiramate which totally took away the vertigo and double vision. I get a very slight bit but not the kind that knocks you over now and only a few seconds. I was also told to go to an ENT to rule out Meniers disease and they checked my hearing and looked in my ear and did a CT to rule out a tumor behind the ear called acoustic neuroma. They were all negative. If positive for the Meniers they give you water pills.
Hi. My son is 15 yo and has recently been prescribed Topiramate 50mg Daily preventive use for Classic Migraine HA and "added bonus to decrease mood swings." Amongst many other concerns I have, I am concerned with remarks of weight loss. He is already very thin with a very good appetite. How much weight loss can I expect and does anyone have experience with the mood swings issue?
I am not sure if anyone can help me out with this but I have a friend that is on Topamax (Topiramate) for seizures and she just found out she is 7 weeks pregnant. She had been pregnant before but had a miscarriage. She is very scared because she can’t find any information on this medication to tell her if or if not this medication will hurt the baby. She has seen the OB/GYN and they told her they are not sure and she needs to speak with her Neurologists.
Has anyone taken this? What does it make u feel like and does it actually work for migraine?

A moderate drug interaction occurs between Topamax and yaz. Efficacy of oral contraception may be decreased by concomitant use with topiramate. You have to use additional birth control measure. Also There may be changes in the bleeding patterns.

I am currently taking sertraline for mood swings and have been taking it for about 5 years. I also have recently been put on topamax for migraines. I have read about all this wonderful weight loss. If anything I have gained. Could these 2 medicines together be holding me back from losing> I would like to go off of the sertraline.

125mcg levythyroxin( for hypothyroidism), 150 mg Trazedone (to help me sleep), 50 mg topiramate 2x per day (to prevent my almost daily migraines - only have been on this treatment for a month now), (& when needed 40mg relpax for my breakthrough migraines).
Have recently begun seeing tracers upon waking up. Triple vision of things and tracers. Iam a life long sufferer of migraines. I have been in and out of hospitals for my migraines.
