It is by no means a weight loss medication either ... that is simply one of several side effects... Which many other medications have the same side effect. As for your Munchies I know firsthand what you mean I also smoke or take edibles which are better.... Have had my license three years and I like the products better nonetheless,... Still get the munchies no matter what. Even when on the topamax. I was not on it for weight loss it was for other reasons.

For me, the side effects weren't bothersome enough to quit. The Topa did seem to help in the beginning (I was taking it for chronic migraine) but after about 2 years, I felt like it wasn't quite doing the job so I recently got off.

I take it for nerve pain and complex migraines. I did experience weight loss but not loss so far, but I do take daily vitamin and extra supplements plus making sure I drink Ensure and a V-8 everyday to keep myself health. Mine did, and now I can only feel it a tiny bit if my feet are in the same position for a long time (i.e. computer chair rail). It definitely has a side effect of weight loss. In fact, some doctors prescribe it specifically for that reason. (In people who are overweight, and don't suffer from migraine.) I lost weight almost immediately.
