Later on, the injured gland may not be able to make enough thyroid hormone, resulting in temporary hypothyroidism. Symptoms of hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism may not be recognized when they occur in a new mother. They may be simply attributed to lack of sleep, nervousness, or depression.
Avatar f tn m sure the doctors do though! Does your baby have any other symptoms of thyroid issues? My daughter was born without a thyroid gland in 2000. Her condition is called Congenital Hypothyroidism.
Avatar m tn I think she should get tested for thyroid anti-bodies, which are found in hashimotos, thyroid disease, especially with her swinging from hyper to hypo, it may be hashimotos, I would get her FT3,FT4,TSH and antibodies checked, she might need more throid hormone, her body might not be getting enough, at this crucial time in her life. I wish you both well and hope you can sort this mess out for your wife, Take care, keep me posted.
Avatar f tn The isthmus measure 2mm. The thyroid gland is heterogenous in echotexture. In the midpole of the right thyroid lobe there is a 9mm nodule which is hyperechoic relative to the surrounding thyroid parenchyma. No abnormalities are identified in the surrounding tissues. IMPRESSION: Small heterogenous thyroid gland. A 9mm midpole right thyroid nodule. I have no idea what this means. Can anyone give me an idea?
9470507 tn?1404220799 ve had for quite some time and doing some research, things that I was diagnosed with in the past, all point to a thyroid problem.
Avatar m tn Sounds like you need to have a couple of things checked. Your thyroid labs: TSH, Free T3, Free T4 and antibody testing done for Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroid disease. I would also get your calcium levels checked, Vit D3 and B12.

436713 tn?1408884730 About 3 months ago, it started occurring in my left foot. Since then, I have developed bizarre joint pain in my feet, knees, wrist, fingers.. etc. Some days my left knee and right finger will hurt.. some days my wrist... it seems to move around, and doesn't necessarily occur on both sides of my body. I also have general fatigue, low libido, and my appetite seems to have faded. I'm 5'6 and 128 pounds and have a lot of muscle.
Avatar f tn The FDA prohibits the sale of any over the counter supplement withh any measureable hormone content in them. So most of these thyroid supplments are nothing but an advertisement gimik in MY opinion and many others. Total T3 is an outdated test of limited value. you really want the "Free T3" test. However if your total T3 is low, chances are pretty good that so too would be the levels of free T3. Selenium is OK but you can get too much.
Avatar f tn 26 cm. There is a mixed solid and cystic mass in the mid pole portion on the left thyroid lobe measuring 0.94 x 0.5cm. A tiny 2x2 mm area seen in the upper pole of the left thyroid lobe. No other lesions are present. IMPRESSION: Solitary 5x9mm lesion with mixed echogenicity seen in the mid pole portion of the left thyroid lobe with a smaller superior lesion in the range of 2mm. The remainder of the study is unremarkable.
Avatar n tn I had contacted my Endo who said to come in and I did and I saw a NP who said that as long as my thyroid was out of whack that all of my symptoms are related. But this has been going on for weeks and I can barely function. I stumble thoughout the day and cannot function. Went to Neurologist who did not know and said that Thyroid would not cause this but did not know what was wrong. As of Friday my TSH was 6.0 but all of my hormones T4 and T3 normal T4 6.8 and T3 87.
Avatar f tn I had my entire thyroid removed back in 1994, they told me i had hyperthyroidism/Graves disease. I was fine up until about 06, when i started getting body aches in my thighs and legs. Long story short, i was diagnosed with first peripheral neuropathy, the 2nd opinion neuro said fibro. The last two months have been hell for me. Constant urination (15-20) times a day, my urination is very dilluted, i do not drink more than 36 oz of fluid a day.
585708 tn?1247192813 I have had cold feet for three years, this went into my whole body about three months ago. I had an ultrasound that showed 4 small nodules and a little bit large. They say my thyroid blood work is on the high end of normal but because I have very low testosterone they are wanting for that to go up (with Andro-Gel but may switch to injectable) before they go for the thyroid, to see if there is a change with normal testosterone, In my opinion.
Avatar f tn At best it is an indicator to be considered along with more important indicators such as symptoms, and also levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and free T4. Of these Free T3 is the most important because it largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions. Scientific studies have shown that Free T3 correlated best with hypo symptoms, while Free T4 and TSH did not correlate at all. When taking thyroid meds, TSH is even more unreliable as a diagnostic.
Avatar f tn Hi I have some symptoms that are causing me concern. I have an increase in white patches on my skin and after extensively googling as to what it could be I have narrowed it down to vitiligo or morphea which I believe are both caused by autoimmune illness. I don't see my doctor about this until Thursday so that he can know for sure what my skin problem is.
1355431 tn?1369975306 For lots more info on the importance of D3 in pregnancy and making healthy babies go to www.vitamindcouncil.org. Babies also need enough D3. It comes in a liquid for kids, with a dose of 1,000 IU a day. Otherwise you can get gel or tab pills for adults. You may want to see another OB-GYN also to see if they have other suggestions in addition to baby aspirin. I hope that you start to feel better, and have a healthy pregnancy in the future if that is what you want.
Avatar f tn The rest of my thyroid levels are all normal but I have all the classic symptoms. Can anyone tell me are there symptoms with this even though other levels are in normal range.
1085124 tn?1256507063 I have a over active Thyroid , but only by like .4 which is not bad enough to need medicine. I also have a goiter that is now protruding out the front of my neck, as large as a egg I would say. The test results from two years ago say "non cancerous" so my endo says to watch it. He wants to go ahead and do the same tests I have already done in the past year again. LOL well needless to say my insurance ***** now and it will cost $2000.00 to get this biopsy redone.
535822 tn?1443976780 Thak you john I will and just as an update ,on Saturady I started to take some Adrenal Caps I got from my local health store, and I truly feel better , my mind seems clearer and I am able to function more than I was doing, I only use natural remedies and had the symptoms of low thyroid but then read on Med help somewhere,( possibly the thyroid forum )to check Adrenal Fatigue first.
Avatar f tn Irregular periods may be caused by changes in hormone levels, use of birth control pills, trauma, undiagnosed infection, thyroid and pituitary disorders, stress, change in diet or exercise routine, recent weight changes, or even underlying illness. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Hi, You should get an ENT evaluation done, and see a gastroenterologist for your symptoms. Also, get a thyroid function test and chest xray done to rule out the other causes that could cause your symptoms. How old are you? Since when have you noticed this lump? Do you have any other associated symptoms. Let us know what your doctor advises. Regards.
