throat infection on one side

I have pain in the back of my throat only on one side and it feels as if the very back of my tongue on that side could also be feeling some pain. It is not a burning sensation like a normal sore throat but more of life an ache that is amplified every time I swallow. This just started about 5 days and wasn't too bad until today when it became much worse. What could this be and what can I do for the pain?

I'm not sure if a cavity would do it or not. Something as simple as acne or razorburn could do it, though. I actually have a bit of a lymph node that I can feel in the same location (there isn't one on the other side that's palpable), but I don't think there's anything wrong with me. It's possible that some lymph nodes are just different. The ENT should be able to tell you if that's actually true.

Yup, had that a lot. It could well be associated with a sinus infection, where gunk (like my medical terminology?) is dripping onto the back of your throat on one side. I 'm thinking that especially since you complain of one-sided lymph node swelling too. Your allergy activity could have started it all. The usual OTC remedies often work well for this, but if it goes on long you might want to see you PCP.

Neck lymph nodes can be the result of tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. If you had flu like symptoms initially then it could be due to infectious mononucleosis too.

hi,relax,it is throat infection may be associated with ulcerations.A course of antibiotic along with antiseptic gargles and pain killers will help.May be some local anesthetic spray would be helpful. Please consult ENT sugeon to rule out other possibities. Relax and take care!

It is throbbing and causing drainage to the back of my throat. It seems to only be the right side. The left side of my nose feels completely normal. It's much more sensitive to smells and breathing now. I'm not sure if this might have something to do with having small nostrils or not. I haven't had any nosebleeds, but I did nearly faint tonight after touching it for a moment to see if the swelling had gone down. Any ideas of what this could be?

Went to the county STD clinic and told them of my sore throat. It on only on the right side and feels like it is more under my tongue. Asked if I could get swabbed for gonorrhea. She said it doesn't look like it and swabbed me for strepp. I got and HIV and std test have to wait 10 days for results. Now I made an appointment with an ENT but have to wait til the 9th. I think the medical profession is getting really dumbed down. Now I have to sweat this for 10 days.

This sequence of events suggests that your one-sided tonsillar enlargement was preceded by an upper respiratory infection. The enlargement of only one tonsil with infection is quite unusual and is sometimes associated with the development a peri-tonsillar abscess. That is the development of a collection of pus in the tissue surrounding the tonsil. This is a serious situation and one that definitely warrants medical intervention.

I have white spots on one side of my tonsils ( right side) and on the same side the lympnodes is tender to the touch and slightly swollen. No fever, or any other symptoms. Realized yesterday my lympnodes was diffrent and today i noticed the patches because i felt something odd when i swallowed...what could it be?..dnt have insurance at the moment, want to avoid out of pocket if its nothing to worry about.

About 2.5 weeks ago I started feeling a sore throat on the right side (this side always has bothered me on and off since I had strep in august 2013). Ive had a pain on one side of my throat for about 6 weeks. It is worse in the morning and evening, and seems to be worse then I am tired or dehydrated. It ranges from mild discomfort to sever pain. t know what you mean by fully come down, but you can get a yeast infection if you eat a female out. My buddy in the army got one this way. We gave him hell about it all the time. He had a sore throat.

Not happy with my doctor. When I went in for my 6 week check up for the TT I had the strep throat & ear infection. It was a write me off appointment. He didn't even bring in my chart. Looked in my throat and ears and wrote the scriipt.

Usually you would have a high fever, pus in the throat etc. if it was a strep throat. Bacterim has limited activity and works on lower respiratory tract (pneumonia) organisms and not generally streptococci. It is more effective towards other bacteria. So, i don't think you have a strep throat.
