tamiflu

4355200 tn?1354593144 Thanks for the input. I did have the shot a couple months ago that was supposed to cover all types. So did Lucas. He has to have one every year because of his cancer. His oncologist indicated that this is a strain that isn't covered, but said that since he had the shot his symptoms shouldn't be quite as bad. He also prescribed Tamiflu for him but it had to be compounded and cost $175!!!!!!
Avatar f tn My husband and MIL had the flu over Christmas, but I had a flu shot and was fine. You can take Tamiflu while pregnant if you do get the flu.
Avatar f tn t harm the baby as long as you are drinking plenty of fluids and keeping good down. But you need to be seen so you can Get a prescription for Tamiflu. My ER dr told me the flu shot was ineffective this year so it doesn't matter if you got one or not.
6822962 tn?1396329659 I ended up getting the deadly flu despite me taking the flu shot. I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
167426 tn?1254086235 This has created another hitch in treatment for Leslee, so I want to pass on some info to all of you.
Avatar n tn Have you ever had the flu pregnant and how did it effect you and the baby? Also what did you take to treat it my Primary Dr. Wants me to take Tamiflu and im not comfortable with it.
7714453 tn?1394714282 ll cause harm to my baby. Anyone been prescribed meds for flu this pregnancy? (Tamiflu in particular..) Any natural remedies? That's the route I like to go.. I've never had the flu in my life.
Avatar f tn Her pediatrician freaked out and emailed my OB. Apparently this strain was not covered with the flu shot. My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along.
Avatar f tn I've been prescribed Tamiflu but have seen some concern about it's potential damage to the liver. I have compensated cirrhosis (7 yrs) and am basically very healthy except for this flu. I've read that the drug elevates liver enzymes. Can't call gi doc as Friday night. Thanks for any comments!
Avatar m tn my son had the flu (despite the flu shot last year) and I had it 13 years ago when I was pregnant with my son (no flu shot)...I like you could not take off work or school and I pushed through it took me about 3 months to recover I couldn't take any meds since I was pregnant but I think if I would of rested it woudn't of taken so long. With my son his case was very mild - he slept it off for a week (no meds..it was too late for Tamiflu) and he was good to go.
Avatar f tn check the expiration date on the tamiflu and a pneumonia shot probably wont do any good seeing as this is an unseen unheard of virus until now.
Avatar f tn I got the flu shot as fevers can cause brain damage to baby! I keep reading though that the flu shot this year isnt effective to the strains that are making everyone sick right now... so never hurts to call the dr to see what they want you to do. Better to be safe than sorry!
Avatar n tn Went to pharmacy today to get flu shot. Pharmacist said there are two types: a regular or a high-dose. She said they ran out of the high-dose, but the regular dose would be ok, so this is what I got. After I returned home, I checked on the internet and found out that a high-dose type is strongly recommended for people over 65 (I am over 80). Question: Should I now get a high-dose type on top of the regular type I got, or is this not recommended?
944080 tn?1298919453 So I was just wondering if anyone here has had it, and made it through okay? If so, did you have Tamiflu or not? My sons and husband had the H1n1 last week, and I called my Dr right away and got on Tamiflu, which prevented me from getting sick at all. Trust me, I was very unsure about taking the Tamiflu, but I felt it was better than ending up very sick or dead. I still worry about what adverse effects the drug might have on my unborn baby.
Avatar n tn You should always get your flu shot unless you have a immune system problem. The shot is effective for the strain of the flu it was made for this year as far as I know. But there could be other strains going around this year that it will not work for. Specialmom is right tamiflu only works within the first few hours and after that there is not Mich you can so other than rest, Tylenol and fluids.
Avatar f tn I recently talked to a woman with MS who says she definately will get the flu shot. Her neurologist strongly advises. Every neurologist I've ever talked to or advise column I've read advises the opposite. Am I listening to old school advise? Are the new "dead virus" shots now safe?
Avatar f tn the doctor said that he is sure that my husband has phenumonia, he gave him two shot, antibiotic bactrim and tamiflu? i thought that tamiflu was only for flu?
167 tn?1374173817 OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??
Avatar f tn I am a Master of Public Health student studying ways to increase flu immunization. Do you get the flu shot each year? If not, why? Thank you so much for your thoughts!
Avatar f tn 30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?
Avatar n tn I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.
Avatar f tn I'm 22 weeks and last week I got my flu shot. Since then, I've been having a slight cold. Runny nose, small headaches here and there, coughing, sneezing. I was told that it was normal for that to happen.. But last night I started vomiting a lot and also had to use the restroom in more than one occasion. :/ is my baby okay? What should I do? I feel horrible. I don't want to continue being sick. Is this normal from the flu shot or am I just getting sick bc it's winter?
Avatar n tn I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? I'm worried it's going to hurt the baby. Also it did get the flu vaccine, I was only a couple weeks pregnant so I didn't know but I'm a little mad they push a vaccine that obviously doesn't work.
Avatar n tn told us that he was not eleigible to recieve a prescription for Tamiflu. Where can I find any federal or state restictions for eleigibility.
