Since you could not possibly have caught HIV from the protected oral sex event, it is not possible your symptoms are due to HIV (unless you have had other HIV exposures). Also, acute HIV symptoms start 10-20 days after exposure; 2 months is much too late. Your doctor obviously believes your symptoms are not just "flu-like", but are in fact the flu (influenza). That is the only condition that Tamiflu is used for. You do not need HIV testing.

I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.

My four-year-old grandson, who has leukemia, was just diagnosed with the flu despite having the shot this year. I also had the shot prior to my diagnosis. Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.

My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.

2009, for hiv and syphillis-negative and @ 6 month mark, Feb. 2009, for hiv, syphillis, chlamydia and gonnorhea and was negative. My concern is that in Nov.2009 I had a ear infection and was given Bactrim. I took it for only a few days and then was given Tamiflu because I developed the flu. Come to find out it wasn't the flu but an allergic reaction to Bactrim. Could the drugs that I took have masked a syphillis infection causing me to have a false negative?

Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!
