793305 tn?1493925518 Can I take Levaquin (quinolone antibiotic) at the same time as my synthroid...pharmacist said yes, but I'm skeptical...Everything messes with synthroid...but both need to be taken with lots of water and on empty stomach...kidney infection...my third in a year. How rude.

Avatar f tn To save a second surgery, he did it all at once. I am now on 200 mcg of Synthroid and a low dose of Cytomel along with the Tums calcium therapy. I am still tired, cold and my joints hurt. My doctor does listen to me. The last reading on my thyroid level was 16.9 down from 59.7, so we are making progress. However, I think I need more. Apparently 200 mcg of Synthroid is a large dose, have you heard of higher doses this early in the game?
Avatar n tn Low thyroid hormone can lead to kidney disease. See below article: http://www.eje-online.org/cgi/content/full/160/4/503 I would think that NOT treating low thyroid hormone or not taking enough Synthroid to get your FT3/FT4 levels in the upper 1/3 of the range, would be worse on kidneys. If you feel you don't like Synthroid, there are other options. Armour, Nature-Throid, Levo. Just remember that not treating low hormones is far worse on the kidneys in the long run.
456874 tn?1218139741 Well, after all theses months of suffering difficulty swallowing, they have finally found that I have a multinodular (very small nodules) goiter. So my doc put me on .100 mcg synthroid twice a week in addition to the .50mcg everyday. They have also found that I have cysts on my kidney and on ovary. My PCM thinks that I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome); My endo gave me a rx to fill of Glumetza to help with the PCOS.
Avatar n tn if you need to decrease your synthroid dose does it take some people longer to adjust to to decrease especially if your body is sensitive to meds and you have a chronic disease .
Avatar m tn The doctors want to do an MRI with dye on my one and only kidney. Being CKD Stage III and my kidney functions are not the best anyway. 33 GFR and 1.6 creatinine. I don't need additional problems such as messing with my thryroid levels. Does anyone have a clue about this dye (metal dye) or having it create problems with the thryoid after having the dye?
168348 tn?1379357075 which I saw you mentioned in another post as it relates to no longer using Synthroid to "shrink" a thyroid nodule? This is interesting to learn, thank you for citing that in another post. If you have a moment, can you expand on that as it is very important for me to bring up with my Endo as I have a 3.0-4.0mm stable nodule in my intact side after a partial thyroidectomy 1/07 which found two incidental papillary micro's which were fully encapsulated with no lymph node involvement.
Avatar n tn I got a reading of 5.14 for my tsh and being the anxious person I am, despaired mightily. I so stupidly took 200mcg of my father's to see if would have any effect because I'm going through an especially hard time emotionally now, the night before further labs. I rejoiced when my tsh was down to 2,24 the next morning and didn't remember until a couple days later that I had taken the Synthroid. My brain isn't up to par because of the current depression or maybe the low thyroid.
Avatar f tn Why do you take Synthroid? Hashimoto's? You should know if this is the cause because Hashi is NOT just a thyroid issue but an auto-immune issue. Untreated hypothyroidism can cause the kidney and liver to become sluggish, and is far worse than not taking the pills.
Avatar n tn i have a thyroid level of zero, am taking 75 mg of synthroid, and 80000 vitamin d. my skin is turning brown on my neck and arms. what could this be? i have also had kidney trouble (stones, frequent infections for 15 years). what could this be?
168348 tn?1379357075 Hi, I ask this question because both a member on the Arthritis Community, and myself have seen a corelation between taking NSAID for arthritis and depletion of Vit D ... is this just coincidence or is there a possible connection?

Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with hashimotos. My doctor prescribed 50mg of synthroid. I take the generic. After about two or three weeks I began getting periodic dizziness. My head was just spinning! My doctor did another set of labs and a had a ultrasound ordered for a nodule on my left side of my neck in the front.
Avatar m tn just started Tirosint about three months ago and the leg pain and foot pain is awful, but I do sleep better and have less side effects than with Synthroid. Did notice my TSH went to 1.0 so it is better absorbed than Synthroid.
Avatar f tn 4 but my T3 and T4 are all still normal. My doctor put me on Synthroid for three months to see if my thyroid goes down. Also, as a side note, my sister has had half of her thyroid removed due to nodules. I have also had alot of x-ray contrasts done the previous year due to staghorn kidney stone surgery(ies). Would this have an effect on my thyroid and what does all of this mean? Do I have hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism or anything at all.
Avatar f tn Hi, My husband is 42 years old and have diagnosed with thyroid cancer and thyroid gland was removed this year Jan. He under the medication of synthroid now. Before this issue also he was having high levels of triglyceride in this blood. Before 2 months when he checked it was under 250 and when he checked this month it was increased to 393.
