The mass was 1cm and it had tissue and fluid in it. We went to MD Anderson in Tx and they did a series of biopsies that all came back benign. We are just watching it now to make sure it doesn't get bigger. I'm still worried because now I keep reading that the needle biopsies aren't always accurate because the cancer can be in the thyroid tissue not the nodule.
Our daughter was a healthy 3 year old who for no reason started gaining weight at an alaming rate. In July of 06 she weighed 40 pounds. In July of 07 she weighed 52 pounds In September of 08 she was up to 76 pounds. We were sent to an endocrinologist in 07, who ran some bloodwork and said that everything was fine that we just had to accept the fact that we had a chunky child and that we needed to stop her from gaining weight.
She was found to be hypothyroid on the newborn screening, Thyroid scan for her showed normal thyroid. She was put on synthroid. She only takes 72.5 mcg and is now 13 years old. I have 4 other children. Twins that were found with high TSH, but retested and it was fine. My last 2 children also were high TSH and did not go normal and were placed on Synthroid. At age 3 my first child was taken off meds and her Levels went up so they put her back on it.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroid in Feb/08. Since starting on synthroid, I have had a feeling of a "lump" in my throat and also it sometimes gets so bad, it gives me a headache. My blood levels now show "normal' but this problem is getting worse. What could it be? Also, since starting on the synthroid, I am often getting heart fluttering. Is this normal?
I am a healthy 36 y/o female with two healthy children...never any problems getting pregnant or sustaining pregnancy. In March 09 doc prescribed Synthroid with these levels:
TSH - 1.468, T4 - 10.2, T3 - 166
April tests showed TSH - 1.090, T4 - 12.3, T3 - 164.
May tests showed TSH - .358, T4 - 10.8, T3 - 154
July TSH - .147, T4 - 11.
test for myasthenia gravis was neg can barely keep my head up have three children. what now? doctor started me on synthroid(i think just to shut me up) i do have a goiter and nodules. my neck and face are more swollen for the last two weeks. i feel as though i have a band wrapped around my neck, nervousness and my weight is all over the place. i dont know who to see endo or neuro?
Her pediatric endocrinologist seems stuck on TSH values and Synthroid in that she has made head way with it. Up to this point she has been unwilling to discuss Liothyronine or Armour. She has had the antibody test done, both high. Thyroid Peroxidase 6821, range 0-60 au/ml and Thyroglobulin AB 890, range 0-60 au/ml. I had seen reference to other autoimmune disorders especially in children. While the internet is empowering it is also very scary so I want to make sure I am doing everything I can.
The third doctor put me on Synthroid 0.05m, and I felt great right away, my energy, good mood and libido was back. Even my children said I am a better mom on pills. 4 weeks later I almost fainted from the high blood pressure 164/104, family doctor told me to stop Synthroid immediately and put me on high blood pressure pills "take as needed". 3 weeks later I was able to see my endocrinologists, who advised to take only 1/2 pill.
Pseudotumor cerebri and slipped capital femoral epiphysis have been reported in children receiving levothyroxine therapy. Overtreatment may result in craniosynostosis in infants and premature closure of the epiphyses in children with resultant compromised adult height.
Seizures have been reported rarely with the institution of levothyroxine therapy.
Inadequate levothyroxine dosage will produce or fail to ameliorate the signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism.
Well, I went in to get my follow-up iodine uptake test done today, and had to reschedule because the Endo was supposed to have me stop taking the Synthroid 4 weeks ago when my chemo finished,-and failed to tell me! (Apparently, the Synthroid throws off the test, -not to mention I probably don't need much of it now!!!) (So THIS is why I have hyper-t symptoms, though the test show not so much?!?) AAAUUUGGGHHH!!!!
Did you tell the Endo about still having hypo symptoms? The , TSH isn't the best way to moniter thyroid disease. It can fluctuate throughout the day. It's much better to go by the free's..read some of Gimel's posts.You may be one of those that needs to have free's in upper range to feel better, As far as Synthroid goes, what was the Endo's reason for you switching to that? Did he do blood work? If your insurance will cover the Synthroid, it won't hurt to try...
1mg of Synthroid. My doctor did not recommend a change in dosage even though I do have symptoms of anxiety, depressed mood, tired eyes and general lack of energy. I would love some feedback on whether medication should be changed as the TSH levels fluctuate or whether this is normal during perimenopause and the fluctuation has to be drastic to warrant a change in dosage.

Could anyone give me any insight into the types of reaction one might have to dyes in Synthroid? I was put on Synthroid mid-March aftrer being on Armour for many years (had reaction to Armour - that was reason for change). I started with .50 mcg to .75 (for three weeks) and now at .88 (blue pill). I never felt good since going on Synthroid at all, although I already was feeling pretty bad and I am basically housebound. Waiting for labs this week and doctors appointment in 10 days.
ve been on the thyroid support supplements and other vitamins for 2 months, 10,000 units of D3 for 6 months, and 25 mcg of Synthroid for 9 days. About two weeks before starting the Synthroid my thyroid was beginning to enlarge, and it is continuing to do so. It is a bit firm but not sore. Is this common with Hashi patients and will the Synthroid shrink it back down? Is this something I should be concerned about? Thanks all!
47 YEARS old, male, 2 children and wonderful wife. Been taking synthroid .100 mg and for 17 years been on management for pain. Started with sleep meds, and Darvoset. Now I take 2 Muscle relaxers, methadone 5 mg and ambian and hydromorphone 10mg at bed time to sleep. Wake to synthroid, and 2 adderall, 75mg ea and methadone 5 mg. Mid day I take 5mg methadone for pain. In the past years I have developed the following, weight gain, severe dry skin, cold body temp and freezing hands and feet.
