Symbicort and pneumonia

Common Questions and Answers about Symbicort and pneumonia

symbicort

Avatar f tn Finally my doctor diagnosed pneumonia and put me on antibiotics, Avamys and Symbicort. Unfortunately, either the Symbicort or the Avamyst has given me a fungal infection in the throat (and beyond ... it seems to go down quite far). This was not too unexpected as Advair gives me horrible thrush that lasts for months. My question however is, if I stop taking the Symbicort and the Avamys will the thrush go away, or should I go see my doctor to get anti-fungal stuff (i.e. Nystatin)?
Avatar n tn I have chronic eosynophilic pneumonia- under control--until the last few days. I had my FERSENRA shot today, & have never had a problem w/it. I am extremely (for me) SOB. I use SYMBICORT breather PRN.
Avatar n tn Given that it is now nearly 4 months since the bout of pneumonia, you deserve further diagnostic evaluation by a lung specialist. If the signs are truly localized to one lung, the one that had the pneumonia and especially if a current x-ray fails to demonstrate complete resolution, the lung specialist will probably suggest that he/she perform bronchoscopy and/or a CT scan of the lungs to determine the reason for this lingering problem.
Avatar m tn I went to my Pulmonary doctor yesterday and was given more prednisone and symbicort. I have chest pain when coughing, bending and last night I was awakened by chest pain (I was sleeping on my back). I have a Loop recorder in my chest so I sent communication through to my cardiologist thinking it could be heart related. I was just hospitalized for syncope & have been having problems with dizziness, fatigue and migraines since 6/26. Can you please shed some light on what could be going on.
Avatar n tn t quite sure myself about the Symbicort and blood sugar levels, so I did a little research and here is a link to what I found - it comes directly from the Symbicort website. http://www.mysymbicort.com/asthma/index.aspx?source=20048&WT.

Avatar f tn I was given a breathing treatment and put on doxycycline, which made me very sick to my stomach. I was switched to Omnicef and Symbicort and take Zofran as needed for nausea, and tolerate those fine. I've been on antibiotics since last Weds 10/28. I started feeling a little better and my fever went down on Fri. Sunday night it started creeping up and remains up today (99.9 on tylenol). I'm beyond exhausted and have no stamina.

1100598 tn?1413127426 Until recently my asthma attacks only consisted of coughing and a some S.O.B. Last fall I had Walking Pneumonia after an upper resp. infection. Last month I had a cold that ended up turning into pneumonia, which was treated with Levaquin. I started having Asthma attacks with this, which I thought was from being allergic to the Levaquin, but it has been over two weeks since I have been off the antibiotic and I am still having the Asthma attacks.
1507301 tn?1289936394 You are taking an awful lot of stuff in addition to the antibiotics (which are a necessity for your infection). You had best look into steroids (Symbicort). There can be very serious side effects and are not recommended for COPD unless nothing else works, and, even then, only for short periods of time. I am at the lower end of moderate COPD and do not use steroids. That is because they almost killed me.
Avatar n tn After having pneumonia a month ago, and taking antibiotics and symbicort, his blood sugar started droping extremely low especially at night. The Dr said to stop the symbicort and it should be ok. He is still having problems. He and my mom are having so much anxiety and no sleep. She wakes up several times a night and finds He is having symptoms of extreme low blood sugar. She force feeds him glucose but sometimes that won't even rise it enough and she calls an ambulance.
Avatar m tn ve never had a reason to monitor my blood pressure, but I looked up the side-effects of Symbicort and it says changes in blood pressure can occur. There was also a warning to use caution in patients who have severe high blood pressure. As far as I can tell, there are no known interactions between Symbicort and blood pressure medicines. If you're concerned about how high your blood pressure gets after taking Symbicort, I'd talk to your doctor.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosted with COPD Stage II in 2009, it had been well controlled with meds, diet and exercise. Needless to say I was diagnosted with pneumonia and stayed 4 more days in hospital then moved to rehab for 2 1/2 more weeks. All this time I have been on 24/7 oxygen and doesn't look as if I'm ever going to get off of it. Almost all my meds have stopped working (spiriva, symbicort, advair, etc.
Avatar f tn will be starting on champix and will be done with ciggarretes in 2 weeks but i was told if i take ventalin and smoke pot it could kill me and i currently take symbicort and ventalin (salbutamal sulphate) but i asked a nurse about if i was to smoke sum pot one day if i didnt take the ventalin all day would i be ok and she said yes but i would like a professionals information so my question is it ok for me to take symbicort and smoke on occasion?
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).
5037123 tn?1362663006 Not sure if it was from the Advair I took another dose and the pain got worse. I contacted my doctor and he changed me to Symbicort. I had no problem for 3 days, but after today's dose the back pain is back. Is this typical or am I doing something wrong when inhaling. I believe I'm following the instructions, including rinsing my mouth after using. Is there a pill I can take instead?
Avatar f tn Again, I saw no results but my doctor insisted that I stayed with the treatment. After I year, I moved to Japan and was still using Symbicort and Singular with no affect on my cough. I started seeing a new doctor who told me that I had walking pneumonia. He prescribed a large round of anitboitics. Little has changed. I still have coughing attacks anytime I do anything physical (walking up stairs, riding a bike, waking up in the morning, etc.).
Avatar f tn I have bronchitis with a severe cough I am taking 50mg cortisone a day I am not able to cut down yet as the cough is too severe. It's been around 4 weeks since it started as a sore throat and moved down to my chest am taking antibiotics Clarithromycin 250mg & Doxycycline Monohydrate (50mg), Rikodeine or Codeine cough suppressant, Symbicort inhaler. I'm not sleeping well a couple of hours here and there and I'm exhausted, am severely constipated.
Avatar f tn I have COPD. I got a cold and it was on it's way to turning into pneumonia. I went to the doctor. I was given some kind of antibiotic shot in the butt, and then sent home with three doses (days) of Azithromycin (500 mg per dose). I was also put on blood pressure medication for the first time. It is Lisinopril, 10 mg in the morning and evening. Other than this I take Spiriva once a day and use albuterol by nebulizer. I also take many supplements every day.
Avatar m tn I have been on and off a surplus of antibiotics and prednisone. I have shortness of breath and pain in the lung/ back area. I am on spiriva, symbicort, ventolin, levalbuteral, and 800 ibuprofen. This has been going on for 5 months. X- ray was clear two months ago. All blood labs and cultures clear. My doctors do not know what to do for me? I'm constantly tired and in pain and short of breath. I'm 25, and should not be this sick!
Avatar m tn My son, on the other hand, was diagnosed with active pneumonia and was prescribed antibiotics. Routine pulmonary function tests (part of a full medical exam for work - desk job) showed both in early 2015 and late 2015 that I had mild, stable airway obstruction, with FEV1 around 82%, FVC around 100% (gradually increasing to 107% over the course of the year), DLCO around 100%.
Avatar f tn I have been taking symbicort for about 8 months and in that time i notice that my weight has gone up by around 1 stone (14llbs), i have never been overweight and have always eaten healthily and taken exercise. No matther how many times i go to the gym or how much salad i eat it wont go away. None of my clothes fit me and i have gone up a bra size or two.
Avatar f tn I started a new Job in October and ever since then I have had difficulty breathing and some days I lose my voice almost totally. I have been in and out of the Dr and now using Symbicort and taking prednisone. It is wierd this only happens during the week while I am at work. Weekends seen to be fine after a little time away. Is this Asthma or am I alergice to my workplace? Should I test the air quality?
959034 tn?1253671476 I'm afraid I have no idea on this one. I'm still in the process of working things out with the specialist. She's left me on Symbicort for now and is looking into testing me for GERD. If it's that simple, I will be very happy. Her other alternative was to try 2 things. (1) I am to use the pulmicort 400 ug inhaler in conjunction with the oxeeze inhaler. These are the same two components as in the symbicort.

1098963 tn?1257865718 Aside from everything else, this medication can have serious side effects. Steroids caused me a lot of physical problems (eyes, adrenals, and more) and I had to stop taking them. And in my case it was prescribed for COPD a medication commonly used for that condition. But for high blood pressure?
Avatar f tn I had never had pneumonia in my life. And the pleurisy lasted 3 long painful months. And that was with treatment with antibiotics. I did not like Advair whatsoever. Stopped taking that. Then, financially l could not afford the Spiriva. So, I eventually stopped taking that. I did still take the ProAir, which is a rescue inhaler. That started causing me problems. Now, I am on Proventil. I have read many reports on Advair and ProAir. Many people have problems with these 2 meds.
