Symbicort and bronchitis

Common Questions and Answers about Symbicort and bronchitis

symbicort

Avatar n tn COPD is the umbrella term that includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. The symbicort is good for reducing the inflammation (therefore narrows the breathing tubes) in the lung pathways. It should help your bronchitis.

Avatar n tn Spiriva (titropium) is a inhaled antihistamine indicated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) including emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Antihistamines frequently cause dry mouth and dry sinuses (benadryl is an antihistamine). The side effect is not considered serious, but you should call your physician if it continues. A saline nasal spray can moisturize the sinuses and possibly reduce the symptoms.
5037123 tn?1362663006 Last week I was diagnosed with Asthma (through a breathing test) after two bouts with Bronchitis and lots of coughing. My doctor gave me Advair. After 3 doses I began getting back pain between my shoulder blades. Not sure if it was from the Advair I took another dose and the pain got worse. I contacted my doctor and he changed me to Symbicort. I had no problem for 3 days, but after today's dose the back pain is back. Is this typical or am I doing something wrong when inhaling.
920958 tn?1477577593 The symptoms have not gotten better. I went to my Pulmonary doctor yesterday and was given more prednisone and symbicort. I have chest pain when coughing, bending and last night I was awakened by chest pain (I was sleeping on my back). I have a Loop recorder in my chest so I sent communication through to my cardiologist thinking it could be heart related. I was just hospitalized for syncope & have been having problems with dizziness, fatigue and migraines since 6/26.
959034 tn?1253671476 I'm afraid I have no idea on this one. I'm still in the process of working things out with the specialist. She's left me on Symbicort for now and is looking into testing me for GERD. If it's that simple, I will be very happy. Her other alternative was to try 2 things. (1) I am to use the pulmicort 400 ug inhaler in conjunction with the oxeeze inhaler. These are the same two components as in the symbicort.
Avatar n tn I'm a 44-year old female, with asthmatic allergic response to cats since childhood. I smoked off and on from 18-39, about 5 pack-years. I've lived near a cat (outdoors with access to my husband's study) for 18 years, and have treated my asthma with albuterol, adding ventolin when necessary. About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks.

942934 tn?1268108382 I remember my daughter had an xray that showed an asthma attcack/bronchitis from weeks before and the evidince was still on the xray and they said it lags behind by weeks so this probably is playing a factor in your healing. I'd ask and keep in touch with your doctors. What have the put you on for the GERD? Also not eating late at night and staying in upright position for an hour after meals may be helpful.
1580703 tn?1651904887 The doctor said that I developed asthmatic bronchitis and acute environmental asthma- was around a lot of 2nd hand smoke and smoked a little. I've had recurring infections almost 1 a week last year- I was in the ER with an abscess on my back requiring draining. sometimes the symbicort/proventil doesn't seem to work and I don't feel normal- I have trouble breathing and low cortisol, chronic fatigue. I also have sleep apnea and am maybe 20-30 pounds overweight.
Avatar n tn t quite sure myself about the Symbicort and blood sugar levels, so I did a little research and here is a link to what I found - it comes directly from the Symbicort website. http://www.mysymbicort.com/asthma/index.aspx?source=20048&WT.
Avatar f tn I have bronchitis with a severe cough I am taking 50mg cortisone a day I am not able to cut down yet as the cough is too severe. It's been around 4 weeks since it started as a sore throat and moved down to my chest am taking antibiotics Clarithromycin 250mg & Doxycycline Monohydrate (50mg), Rikodeine or Codeine cough suppressant, Symbicort inhaler. I'm not sleeping well a couple of hours here and there and I'm exhausted, am severely constipated.
Avatar n tn Another approach might be to avoid these two combination drugs, Advair and Symbicort, and substitute individual inhalert for each of the two drugs (the inhaled steroid and the beta-agonist). You could then reduce the dose of the beta agonist but, unfortunately that could not be done with a metered dose inhaler; would require the use of a nebulizer. You should also discuss this with your doctor. I mentioned individual sensitivity to the beta-agonist class of drugs.
Avatar f tn hi i have severe gerd and asthma getting worse today doctor put me onzantac prilosec ventalin and symbicort the divorcesymbicort felt like it froze my lungs when inhaled since then breathing got worse and middle of back hurts is this other normal
Avatar m tn Hello, So I went to the doctor cause I thought I was getting pneumonia and the Doc had me do a PFT (which was low at 70 percent) and a blood O2 test (94 percent) and said that I had bronchitis and put me on some prednisone and a z-pack. After I finshed my meds I still felt the same. So I set up another appointment and right before I went in I started to feel better but my tests only showed I improved ten percent.
Avatar m tn In February 2016, I developed a chronic cough, and I went to a local walk-in clinic and the doctor made a diagnosis within seconds to be bronchitis and prescribed me antibiotics. After 10 days treatments, the cough remained, the same doctor diagnosed me with pneumonia and put me on more antibiotics for 14 days. In mid March, I was able to breathe well for a brief one week window, then the chronic cough came back.
880656 tn?1240444916 He has been on 35+ antibotics for infections- pneumonia, bronchitis, ear infection, sinus infections etc. He was on an antibotic 2 weeks ago for an ear infect and 4 days ago he was coughing so bad his dr ordered sinus x ray and he has a bad maxillary infection on both sides. He has been taking Biaxin for 4 days now and is running 102.2 fever tonight. He has bad reflux- we had a ph probe study done. his sinuses are formed weird.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).
Avatar f tn I take my rescue inhaler only when absolutely needed. I had no meds like Advair and Spiriva last winter. And I only had bronchitis once. Went to my family doctor and got an antibiotic for that. I am not suggesting everyone give up their breathing meds. NOT AT ALL. But, personally for me, I am doing better without all those meds. Sure I have symptoms. Some days I do good. Other days not so good. But, at least I am not getting sick nearly as much, while I was being given Advair and Spiriva.
Avatar m tn ve never had a reason to monitor my blood pressure, but I looked up the side-effects of Symbicort and it says changes in blood pressure can occur. There was also a warning to use caution in patients who have severe high blood pressure. As far as I can tell, there are no known interactions between Symbicort and blood pressure medicines. If you're concerned about how high your blood pressure gets after taking Symbicort, I'd talk to your doctor.
920032 tn?1550680156 He prescribed me with the symbicort turbuhaler and I have one puff off this once a day and in the past 2 months that I have been on it, I have pretty much forgotten that I am asthmatic, even through the extreme cold in the last couple of weeks. By this time of the year I have normally suffered through Bronchitis at least twice, I am still waiting for my first one this year...
Avatar m tn I have been on and off a surplus of antibiotics and prednisone. I have shortness of breath and pain in the lung/ back area. I am on spiriva, symbicort, ventolin, levalbuteral, and 800 ibuprofen. This has been going on for 5 months. X- ray was clear two months ago. All blood labs and cultures clear. My doctors do not know what to do for me? I'm constantly tired and in pain and short of breath. I'm 25, and should not be this sick!
Avatar n tn then i caught a cold and i had bronchitis again...got a z pack again and more prednisone...i still cant get a full breath of air..its like i have to sigh every couple of breaths or yawn to make my lungs feel full..the right side of my chest always feels heavy and it hurts at times..i dont know if its from the coughing or something else...went to the doctor again today..had a spirometer test done..he it twice .,..one regular..and one after giving me a puff of some inhaler...
Avatar m tn Some things you may want to try at that point are different medications specifically Dulera or Symbicort instead of the Advair and adding allergy medications and nasal sprays. Allergy testing and shots may be needed as well. Finding the cause of the cough is essential to bringing it under control. Please don't hesitate to ask additional questions. I am glad to help in anyway I can. I know it is a rough road. God bless.
Avatar n tn You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat
Avatar f tn I have been taking symbicort for about 8 months and in that time i notice that my weight has gone up by around 1 stone (14llbs), i have never been overweight and have always eaten healthily and taken exercise. No matther how many times i go to the gym or how much salad i eat it wont go away. None of my clothes fit me and i have gone up a bra size or two.
Avatar f tn I started a new Job in October and ever since then I have had difficulty breathing and some days I lose my voice almost totally. I have been in and out of the Dr and now using Symbicort and taking prednisone. It is wierd this only happens during the week while I am at work. Weekends seen to be fine after a little time away. Is this Asthma or am I alergice to my workplace? Should I test the air quality?
Avatar n tn I used inhaled steroids when I felt it was necessary (to ward off wheezing that might come with head colds), but generally avoided them because I sang a lot and they always made me hoarse. In my memory, I never had bronchitis until this past year. I'm currently taking Singulair, Symbicort 160 2/day, Flonase, Zyrtec, and thyroid medicine, as well as albuterol before exercising (although I don't think it makes any difference at all).
