Common Questions and Answers about Swollen glands in neck sinus infection

swollen

Avatar m tn The glands in my neck (under my jaw) have been swollen for about 4 months now. They have never really hurt. But i've been getting sick (mainly just symptoms of a cold. Runny nose, post nasal drip or a headache a few times. And once i had a sore throat) off and on the whole time. Though, when i do get better i still have mucus that i'm hawking up throughout the day (its usually clear or bright yellow).
Avatar n tn hI; are the swollen glands behind the ears on each side of the neck? or you mentioned cheeks. If so it could be TMJ but if behind your ears it could also be your salivary glands. See, if they become swollen more often. mention it to your doctor. There is a disease of the salivary glands call sjogrens syndrome. I pray you do not have that.
Avatar n tn When I move my head or get up i feel pain on my neck. I wake up in the middle of the night because of the pain. Is that sinus infection?
Avatar f tn Neck lymph nodes can be the result of tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. The enumerated the possibilities can be investigated or ruled out one by one by your physician and dentist. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar n tn I had a heavy cough about 3 weeks ago that has since faded. Since then, I have experienced moving discomfort from my left ear, to the angle of my jaw on the left side, and now stiffness / general discomfort in my neck under my jaw. My throat is pink, but tonsils are swollen. The left side of my tonsil wall is wavy, instead of the normal smooth. The top of one of the "waves" on the left side has a small white crest that looks like a cancor sore.
Avatar m tn Okay, been a while since I posted. I have been on a roller coaster ride the last 3, almost 4 months. I have recently been seeing an ENT about my swollen glands. As of the last visit, I had another CT of my sinuses and still have a little bit of sinus infection and over 25 pollyps in my sinus cavity that he said are caused by allergies. He said this will definitely cause the glands to swell. Since my last visit a couple weeks ago he put me on Cipro and Prednisone, again.
Avatar f tn You could have some sort of bacterial infection or virus, like mononucleosis (EBV), strep throat, sinus infection or some other upper respiratory infection. Your thyroid could be enlarged due to goiter either from hyper- or hypo-thyroidism. Your parathyroid gland could be enlarged. You could be having an allergic reaction to food, medication or something else in your environment. Goodluck!
329165 tn?1515471990 But the only other cause I can think of is a throat infection. This is more applicable considering the glands in the neck. Why not try a long course of antibiotics to clear the infection. Also, since the tonsil grew back and the glands palpable, a biopsy of the glands may also be mandatory. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I cant help but think that this is a sinus infection, and that the pain in my mouth is due to swollen Bollus lymph nodes. but I'm not sure.
Avatar f tn About 8 months ago I discovered that my dog had swollen glands in her neck. I went to two different vets who took a sample of the cells on THREE different occassions and each time is came up "Suspicious" but not definative. After 1 day of antibiotics the swelling went down by about 75% however never fully reduced. I notice again that the size has increased and she is not eating as normal and less active.
Avatar m tn Her diagnosis was I developed a sinus infection, was treated with the wrong meds in large doses, and that threw the rest of my body out of sync while not curing the infection. The glands in neck were from sinus, no glands anywhere else (even though I felt thought I felt them), and my abdominal pain is from an imbalance of good flora from the meds. I feel much better mentally tonight.
Avatar m tn i assume swollen glands in the neck means inflamed lymph nodes? our 6 yr. old was seen today for a fever and sore throat complaint. the ped. said she has a throat infection and swollen glands and prescribed meds. she did check other areas of her body for glands (at least that is what i think she was feeling for). about 7 weeks ago she had the same thing (tho the whole family passed around a fever/infection). should we be overly concerned that she has been sick like this twice in two months?
454221 tn?1259445739 In sinusitis, the glands in the neck are most likely to swell—a common response to a cold or upper respiratory infection. But this type of swelling can occur only if sinusitis is a result of infection(bacterial, fungal or viral). However, there are many other possible causes of swollen lymph nodes, including autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, noncancerous (benign) tumors and cancer.
Avatar f tn I initially thought it was a knot in my muscle, but now I have swollen neck glands with no sore throat.
Avatar n tn If you are experiencing pain in your neck area this can be from swollen glands, but you need to have meningitis ruled out. With sinusitis the head doesn't normally hurt with movement. You need a examination by your doctor. In between time, as a home remedy you can take pain relief and do steam inhalations or use a nasal spray to unblock your sinus congestion.
Avatar m tn Your lymph nodes are located in your neck underneath the jaw, above the collar bones, underneath your armpits, In the back of your knees, and near the groin where the stomach crease meets your thighs. There's more but those are the big ones. Anytime your body is experiencing an infection your lymph nodes will flare up. Strep throat, colds, and sinus infections/irritations also have a lot to do with lymph nodes swelling.
Avatar n tn I took it at about 6pm and half way through the night, my neck (sternocleidomastoid near where it connects to my head) was very sore and swollen, my glands dont seem swollen though. Also felt sinus congestion and all around lousy. I have felt this way for over 60hours. Is this a side effect of Azithromycin? Does anyone have any other info for what might cause this?
Avatar f tn Fever Joint/muscle pains Rash Diarrhea/vomitting Weightloss Night sweats I'm getting tested for the first time next week and I'm completely terrified :(
Avatar n tn hi i have a small lump on my right side of neck and feels like glands r swollen .what could it b?
767148 tn?1257302551 Some of these like sinusitis causing post nasal drip, salivary glands infection, pharyngitis or strep infection can cause facial flushing, swollen glands and a run down feeling. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
546802 tn?1215904317 next I spent hundreds of dollars at an ENT and Swallow study and CT scan of sinus and neck only for the ENT to say he has no answers and keep taking the Naproxen he gave me and check back in 2 months!? Avatar n tn Seven and a half weeks ago i had protected vaginal sex with a high risk prostitute. The condom did not break. Two days later i got a really bad sinus infection and swollen glands in the neck for a couple of weeks. I told my doc what happened and he put me on antibiotics. Now, seven weeks later, the symptoms i have now are extreme fatigue in the morning and my eyes are blood shot and watery and my vision is slightly blurry. I also have what looks like thrush around the outside of my mouth.
Avatar m tn ve woken up feeling like the gland in the left side of my neck is slightly swollen, tender to the touch. Last week i had swollen glands (or maybe just ingrown hairs?) in my armpit areas (both sides), but this occurs periodically over the past several years. I don't appear to have a cold or any kind of respiratory infection, or any other new symptoms. Is this something I should be concerned with because I don't have a cold or infection that i know of?
