My glands on one side of my neck and down the middle of my neck have been very swollen and extremely painful since Wednesday. I have not signs of cold, sinus infection or anything. I have no fever but I can hardly swallow. I have been on antibiotics for 4 days now but it hasn't gotten any better. I had no prior sickness - I just woke up with it on Wednesday morning. I went to an urgent care or Wednesday morning and they gave me antibiotics and motrin- 600 miligrams every 6 hours.
I too have swollen glands and I am 33-----it stretched from the bottom right of my neck to the top right of my head-----I did have to see my doctor every three days to keep tabs on them----he gave me a antibiotic saying that it was some sort of bad infection the glands are still some swollen------but he said that they will take a while to go down due to the fact that is the way your body fights off infections-----I did not run fever either---I did have a very stiff neck though----give it some ti
The glands in my neck (under my jaw) have been swollen for about 4 months now. They have never really hurt. But i've been getting sick (mainly just symptoms of a cold. Runny nose, post nasal drip or a headache a few times. And once i had a sore throat) off and on the whole time. Though, when i do get better i still have mucus that i'm hawking up throughout the day (its usually clear or bright yellow). I've been given antibiotics twice but it mainly just takes away my headaches and stuff.
Neck lymph nodes can be the result of tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. The enumerated the possibilities can be investigated or ruled out one by one by your physician and dentist. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
I first saw my doctor in April with swollen glands in my neck I have seen him 3 times since, today being the most recient. The swollen glands NEVER go down. They don't always hurt but it is getting more frequent and severe. My doctor said today that we would try one more antibiotic and steroid pack for 1 week and for me to return for a follow-up that if the "KNOTS" are still there in one week he wants to do a scan.
Both of these went away the following day, but I now have a swollen gland in my neck, and under my arm both on the right side. Also, I seem to have another swollen gland in my groin area on the right side bikini line. From what I have read from this site, it would be abnormal for the swelling to appear in multiple locations if this is just a sinus infection. Is it possible that the areas are swelling for different reasons? Could this be a sign of an STD?
I noticed that through this process on two glands on the right side of my neck got swollen. My doctor told me to take the anti-biotics and they should go down, however, they are still swollen, I am pretty sure that the bottom one got smaller but not the upper one. I have been feeling dizzy and getting headaches but I also think that I am getting another infection of some sort. 1. Is it possible for glands to stay swollen? 2. Can my sinus problems be causing my other symptoms? Thanks!
the left side if my neck is very and noticibly swollen, at first i thought it was just my glands due to a minor ear infection, as i regularly get them, however since, the pain has spread further down my neck, and is now down to my coller bone and throat, in a morning i cant talk or open my mouth wide enough to eat anything and takes a couple of hours to loosen up.
Soreness in lymph glands usually disappears in a couple of days without treatment, but the nodes may not return to normal size for several weeks after the infection has cleared. Generally, if glands are painful, it is because they swell rapidly in the early stages of fighting an infection.
Treatment The underlying cause of the enlarged lymph nodes may be addressed. In case of infections, a course of antibiotics may suffix. If the glands appear very swollen, steroids may be prescribed. Dogs with swollen lymph glands due to lymphoma require removal of the lymph glands and if the cancer has metastasized, chemotherapy. Enlarged lympg glands are proof that the lymph glands are properly working.
I don't want to alarm you but swollen glands and enlarged spleen are two of the symptoms I had before I was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia. But you don't have any of the other symptoms like fatigue, bruising, or achiness that I had. Did your Dr. run blood tests recently? Wouldn't hurt to have a CBC and BMB just to rule it out. Keep me posted.
I woke up today with painful swollen glands on the right side of my neck. Tonight, I can also feel it in my ear, along with the back right side of my tongue. The pain in the glands is so sore, painful to the touch. My ear and tongue are nowhere near as painful. Any ideas or clues? I appreciate any responses :) I am new to this site and the forums, and will fill in my profile soon!
since around my 3rd week on triple tx (inc) I've had swollen glands in the back of head/neck and in front of and behind my ears... is this a sx?
When I move my head or get up i feel pain on my neck. I wake up in the middle of the night because of the pain. Is that sinus infection?
I have a bad sinus infection, third one in the last 18 months. Symptoms are nasal congestion, post nasal drip, face pressure, swollen neck glands, fatigue and malaise My PMD put me on Augmentum, Allegra D, Flonase and Saline Rinse. First round of Augmentum I started to feel better then not so much. Went back to PMD and he put me on another 10 days of Augmentum. About half into second course I still wasnt feeling great and went to ENT for reevaluation.
My mouth was excessively coated with crud when I woke (way more than usual, as I am a mouth breather). My lymph nodes in my neck were moderately swollen and painful. I thought it might be strep and thought about a trip to the doc but decided to wait and see if it would get better. I gargled with warm salt water, ate soft stuff, and soothed my throat with warm tea, and took some naproxen for the pain. Day two: upon waking found the burning was less, but the soreness to swallow was worse.
email me at ***@**** i'd like to know how they tested you for the fungal infection in your nose/sinus cause i might have the same problem
I always have and was wondering if anyone else out there that has these swollen nodes in neck also have problems with their teeth and also wondering if problems with teeth (infections and such) could cause the nodes in the back of the neck swell up. Also, the glands in the front of my neck have always been large... these problems I've experienced have gone on for years... So, I'm hoping its nothing serious because, if it is, and I have it for years.... what chance would I have?
Hi PhotoGirl I also have had Chronic sinus problems for too many years, & 3 lots of surgery, more recent;y the diagnosis is "Chronic sinus Disease", which doesn't really mean that much other than regular check ups with an ENT specialist. You say Doctor, is this an ENT specialist??, & if not, I suggest you insist on a referal to see one, as they are the ones that will have a better insight into whats going on with your sinuses.
But now I have another very severe pain flare up in the sinus, jaw, neck witih swollen lymph nodes again. And this time, the Amoxil is only working 60% on my symptoms and I've been taking it 7 days now. Now I will be finding a new dentist, probably at the University dental school in my city. But really the question comes, since those Xrays showed nothing before, what can this really be?
I have been on 5 antibiotics in the past 3 months for what started out as a sinus infection that included swollen glands. The sinuses are now clear, but I have palpable swollen nodes on the right side that cause my jaw to ache, some ear pain, and a tooth to throb. (I thought I needed a root canal, but dental xrays showed a healthy tooth!) The "referred" pain is no fun.
At 10 months old he started with an unexplained cough that comes and goes every two weeks or so and recurring swollen lymph nodes (they don't stay swollen in between but return frequently). He was on asthma meds for a while but they seemed to make things worse, and as he showed no airway problems (no low blood oxygen levels) even during his more severe coughing episodes he was taken off those. He also has bloody noses at completely random intervals.
Can GERD cause a fullness feeling in my right ear as well as a swollen gland on the right side of my neck? or is the swollen gland causing the fullness felling in my right ear and on the right side of my neck? Thank you for any help.
i am currently being treated for a sinus infection with an antibiotic, nasal spray and allegra d. it is now the 3rd day of treatment and the glands in my neck are visibly swollen and very painful. is this something i should be concerned about??
I had just switched allergy medications, from Nasonex to generic Flonase, right at the time my symptoms returned. Could allergies have led to a sinus infection? Can the sinus infection cause dizziness and fatigue? Due to the holiday weekend I haven't been able to call my doctor, but after 3 prior visits he's never suggested sinuses to be a cause.
I also feel congested in my head, but the flem is clear, so I don't think I have a sinus infection. My glands do not feel swollen they just hurt to touch or when I swallow. This has been going on for such a long time I am starting to think that there is something more going on. It has not cleared up or gotten any better. PLEASE HELP!! I need some answers. Thanks in advance!
It can be a dull pain around the back of my eye, or more and more lately, its a piercing pain. My glands in my neck are swollen and I have constant nasal mucus drip in my throat. The musuc drip is mostly white. My vision seems the same, however I have always been extelemely myopic (-16). I have been to the GP and ENT, waiting to get back to the Opthamalogist in a couple of weeks. The ENT did a sinus CT and nothing major showed. I have not been given antibiotics, because nothing showed up.
