swollen

Hello, From the symptoms, one possibility is of insect bite. The second possibility is of angioedema. Unexplained swelling of the face, eyes, ears etc without any predisposing disease is frequently caused by allergies. An allergic reaction can occur suddenly, even in a person with no previous history of allergy. This swelling is called angioedema. Diagnosis is by clinical examination and complete blood tests, electrolytes and renal function tests.
I, as well, have googled "red, swollen itchy eyelids" because I am suffering the same problem. But my eyelids are swollen around my eyebrow area... NOT near my lashes. It's like the fatty part over your brow bone. When I wake up it's sometimes so swollen I can't fully see. I also have a small rash on the side of my face, below my temple, about the size of a dime. Could it be eczema? The inflamation reduces during the day but by morning I wake up with the puffy tightness again.
I've been suffering from strange swollen rash like symptoms on my eyelid. It really itches at times which i try not to scratch because it seems to make it worse. How can I get this condition to heal completely?
No they have not but , where I live it is very very cold , they do have straw in their doghouses for warmth....
So swollen that my eyelids completely disappear. I literally look like the alien from the ET movie. However, I dont have any other symptoms. No redness or tearing. Sometimes they are a little itchy. THis use to happen with just one eye but now its happening to both. I usually put ice on it to make the swelling stop and it works after a couple of hours. I dont think it could be an allergic reaction because there cant be anything I am allergic to.
I have always suffered with a bad reaction to insect bites all my life, just gnats and horseflies etc. Not wasp or bee stings which I have never had. In August I got a bite on my leg which made all my leg and foot swell up and it took antibiotics and various creams etc to make it go away. It hurt very badly, not itchy, and it took almost 2 months for the bite to go away completely although I still have the mark on my leg.
Hello, Since it is painful, itchy and swollen bump, so chances are there that it can be insect bite. Shingles presents with a solitary nodule less likely and presents as painful itchy blisters which tingle and are painful in a particular dermatome like the trunk or the waist. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist as you may need blood tests to rule out shingles. These blood tests look for antibodies to the virus.
Could it be that my son was bitten in the eye? He does have a history of swelling at the site of past insect bites. Should I follow up with his pediatrician, who hasn't seen him (he was taken to family doctor) or should I just continue the antibiotics that were given to clear up conjunctivitis? Thanks!
The leg and arms are all blistery and red around the area, the eyelid is just swollen, my penis has itchy red blotches, and the spots around the rest of my body appear more like insect bites without the blistering. I read somewhere it can take two weeks to heal. This coming Sunday will mark two weeks. Is there any home treatment I can apply? Or do I need to get to the doctor?
Hi, welcome to the forum, with hornet sting, the symptom varies from minor bite pain to life threatening anaphylactic shock. The types of manifestations encountered are local reactions, systemic allergic reactions, toxic reactions, and delayed reactions. According to your history it suggests 'Delayed reactions'. Less than 0.3 percent of insect sting reactions will result in a delayed reaction and esp. seen with multiple stings. It is usually seen 7-10 days post insect stings.
At darkness her both eyes look normaly dilated but in daylight her pupils have diferent sizes (the left is larger) I took her to the vet on saturday, the vet found her healthy, without fever or with a signal of being sick, just with her left eyelid a bit swollen and suggested me to go to an ophthalmologist. I made an appointment for today. but I'm too worried. She eat, walk and act normaly in fact she doesn't look to be sick just has her left pupil look strange and is always dilated.
A lot of the above stories sound like Serum Sickness, especially the people who have taken antibiotics. I think my daughter's came from a bug bite which I remember as being more red, swollen and bigger than her ordinary mosquito bites.
I've had swollen eye lids, the soles of my feet will be hot to the touch and I am unable to walk from the pain, swollen finger tips, swollen nostril, my lip will look like I was punched in the face. The docs can't figure it out. Also, I have had a recent weight gain of 30lbs(Aug.125 - Dec. 155). I have chronic fatigue. I had blood work done last week, and the results are low potassium, low creatinine, and low T4 (thyroid). I am trying to figure out what's wrong with me.

They go as quick as they come. Im a 48 year old male with no other health issues apart from a high blood pressure. I am on no medication. Have been suffering with these swellings for a year now. Any advice ?
I want to cry. Everyone keeps looking at me like I'm some kind of freak from the circus and they get away from me like I'm contagious or something. My dematologist prescribed PREDNISONE 20 mg and I am to take 3 every morning then decrease my dosage within 3 to 4 days. He also told me I'd be good as new within 24 hours and so far...not so good. I'm miserable! I itch all over. I have hives from neck to toe.

i was just putting my 4 year old daughter in for her rest. she pushed her hair out of her face and said "ouch" and then asked me if she had a mosquito bite. i looked where it hurt and there is a hard bump/lump behind her ear on the bone part (not on the ear itself). i touched it and it hurts. it's about as big as an eraser on top of a pencil or a pea. it is not red or anything (skin color). i get very worried about these kind of things and will give her dr.
The hives are going from bad to worse. I woke up yesterday with the entire right side of my face swollen from them, including an eye swollen shut. I've been taking 25mg of Benedryl, but I find if I try to skip even 1 day I have a horrible flare up. I'm waiting to see the Ob/Gyne, but can't get in until Dec. 10. I'm worried this is too much exposure to Benedryl.
I doubt you could get Lyme from removing a tick from a dog or touching the bite mark, especially if there are no open wounds on the skin. I did read about a guy who got it when he cut himself while cleaning a pheasant without gloves. He quickly developed a full blown case of Lyme. Birds and many mammals, including dogs can have it. Many people with Lyme never saw the tick that bit them.
But one day when I took a tissue to remove it from the corner she winced and I realized her eye was sore. Took her to the Vet and they diagnosed her with Dry Eye. She is perfect, nice teeth, skin no allergies. Her bloodwork showed nothing unusual. Doxy seems to have done NOTHING. The only thing I changed was from Advantage to Comfortis? And neither Vet seems to think that could be the cause. Now on the body odor, lately she has been having a "not so fresh" smell.
a CAT scan showed nothing abnormal. I had a 24-hour respite from the head pain and then it returned. The only thing I could associate with the change was eating chocolate and can recall an increase in my chocolate consumption over the past two weeks. Can an adult develop a food allergy from out of nowhere?
I have naturally oily skin and I wash it every other day. I have changed my face wash six weeks ago from Noxema (with tricolsan) to St. Ives Olive cleanser. I will stop using the cleanser this week to see it it helps, but if it was just dry skin wouldn't it respond to the lotion? I am at a loss! Please help!
I woke up one morning only to find what I thought was an insect bite turned into an extremely red rash containing small clusters of blisters. Luckily for me, that rash didn't form the infamous 'band' associated with shingles...but the skin under my right arm is very sensitive. I have experienced mild pain, however last night was the worst. All day today, I've been fine where pain is concerned. I think I contracted a very mild dose of the shingles. Don't mess around with sore, sensitive skin.
Has anyone ever had problems with sweat causing hives? Twice now, I've woken up with swollen eyelids and hives the day after running so I'm wondering if sweat is triggering this reaction or if it is a result of fall allergens like mold and the temperature change (WI). I would love to hear if anyone has experienced anything like this. Thank you!
I know that pollution is not an issue I eat mostly organic foods I did have a few insect bites a couple of weeks before this started and found a bed bug. But I could not find any illnesses caused by bed bugs that causes these symptoms. But who knows? That's all I can think of for now.
So, in many patients with chronic hives, there is really no exposure (drug, food, insect, chemical) to blame for the urticaria. The patient must understand and accept this for their ideal management. Basically, all that needs to be done is treat the hives. The main treatment of hives is antihistamines, and they will work if they are used properly. The most well tolerated initial treatment is the non-sedating antihistamine Claritin. Zyrtec is similar but may sometimes cause sedation.
