About three to four days ago my eye began to feel like I had been punched in the face on the left side. I woke up the next morning to find a swollen eyelid, and a few lumps about the size of a piece of rice to a pin head. I gave it a day then went to the after hours where they gave me drops. Its since been two days and it gets more swollen everyday, today being swollen shut. The outside is purple and red and the inside is bright red and the lumps are growing.
Yesterday when i woke up i noticed pain around my eye with pain whenever i would blink. I assumed the pain was because of pink eye but when i looked at my eye only my eyelid was red and swollen. It also looked like there was a bump. I then thought it was a stye but later realized the bump wasn't on the eyelash line. It's more in the middle of my eyelid. Whenever i read something online it says it's probably a chalazion but it also says chalazions arent painful but this is.
While laying in bed I noticed a small bump on my cornerlower eyelid that was painful. (very tiny tiny bump) next morning woke up to crusty eyelashes, white part of eye slightly swollen, and pinkish color eye and swollen upper eyelid. Went to eye dr he wasn't sure what the issue is, informed wasnt pink eye nor a stye, but prescribed maxitrol to use twice a day.
If it's swollen, painful to touch and red a stye is likely
If its swollen but no pain and hard bump in lid chalazion is likely
If its swollen and itchy no pain no readness some sort of allergic reaction is likely.
You can try warm compresses but if it doesn't improve soon see an ophthalmologist. Find one near you at www.aao.
My lower eyelid keeps getting swollen. It's happened about 4 times over the past six weeks. Each time it lasts for 2-3 days. What would cause this? I don't wear eye makeup. I know I'll probably have to go see a doctor but I'd like to have some idea as to what it could be.
have read that styes can last many days. My eye is more swollen, red, and painful than ever. The redness is extending out past my eye towards my temple. The underneath of my eye is also swollen now but not red. There is no formed bump on the top of my eyelid. Just wondering how long until this starts to go away. Is a bump going to form and when this does, will relief be soon after? Thanks again for your attention.
it was on February that i felt that every morning i had dry eyes and irritation became worse and i went to ophtalmologist and he gave me predforte and the dryness got better but my eyelid were swollen and i also noticed that whenever i go under outdoor heaters this swelling becomes worse even if i'm sitting far away from the heater and i don't feel the heat!!
If it's neurological there shouldn't be any actual swelling of the eyelid involved, hmmm if the eyelid is swollen then it 'could' make the eyelid just look like it's drooping down, have you seen your GP about it yet? As aspen mentioned it could be an infection or even a reaction bug bite on the eyelid, if it's been a few days and it's still swollen it'd be worth getting your GP to check it out.

Months ago I got a sty on my top eyelid and it was swollen and painful for about a week and then it seemed to go away. Only it left a small hard bump on my eyelid. It's painless and hasn't gotten any worse which is why I haven't seen a doctor. I just really want this bump to go away because it makes my eye look funny.
I've had 4 operations in the last 9 months for retinal detachment. After the first 3, my eye would always recover properly. The last operation which was done December 5th 2008, went well according to my doctor. I went to Africa for a little over a month to travel with family in January. I did everything the doctor told me, putting my eye drops in and not touching the eye as it healed. Now it's June, and for the past 3 months the upper eyelid on the affected eye has been swollen.
Hello about 3 days ago my bottom eyelid was tender to touch or put eyeliner on,it was not discolored or puffy/ yesterday my btm eyelid under eyelashes was swollen looked like fluid was trapped/Wednesday am my bottom eyelid was almost swollen shut &very sore no discoloration or krusties / i have a little white pimple like spot on the inside middle part of bottom eyelid ..... what is it????
I often wake up with a large, swollen eyelid. This has happened for over a month now. It alternates between both the left and right eye, top or bottom eyelid, and sometimes even both. There is no pain, and the swelling is normally reduced after using a cold compress... I have not noticed any patterns as to when the swelling occurs, and went weeks without makeup to see if that would help (if it was an allergic reaction.) Nothing seems to be effective, what could be the problem?
Over the last six months i am having recurrent swollen eyelid, only one eye at a time but can be either eye, usually lasts 1 or 2 days, only upper eyelid, no pain, itchyness, blurry vision or bloodshot eyes. Had reoccured every 2-3 wks, have had 9wks now when it hasn't happened, and yesterday it reoccurred. GP has tested for thyroid problems, all clear. I have psoriatic arthrits, my consultant says its not related, can you help?
What would cause severe (almost swollen shut) eyelid swelling in the morning (uponn waking) - the eyelid skin is stretched and once the edema is gone, they skin is very red and painful.
We have pretty much ruled out allergies.
Of note, is a head trauma sustained 1.5 years ago (back of head hit pavement twice) - am still undergoing various treatments to relieve pressure in head - could manipulation of the nerves in the back of my head/neck cause eyelids to swell?
