Avatar m tn I had tongue tie release surgery 2 weeks ago, but now it is still quite short, I can't touch the roof of my mouth when my mouth is opwn. I had unclear speech (I can't pronounce some letters very clear, espesially r sound) and the speech didn't changed. I had very poor shouders posture and forward head posture but now I don't. I think the surgery released me from upper body tension but I still have speech problems and the tongue is quite short.
Avatar m tn There are three parts of speech--- articulation (making the sounds) is one we all think of with speech. but there is also receptive speech (the ability to take in and organize what is said to you so that you can understand it) and expresssive (the ability to formulate the thoughts you want to express, to organize those thoughts into words to speak). Motor planning has a huge impact on these speech componants.

Avatar n tn I do not your age and your loss %, whether the aid is only hearing sound enlarging device or digital with speech fine tuning provision. Also whether u r a regular user and the working (sound) environment. These are some of the contributing factors for sound. As for ur sinus, it can block ears. Wax in ear also contribute for ear loss. You may preliminarily try steam inhalation - to get relieved from your blocked ears and clear wax, if any, without damaging the drum. It may help u partly.
Avatar f tn My 4 year old granddaughter has obvious speech problems. It is very hard to understand her. Her speech patterns have also changed. She used to call her mother "Mama-ee" and now she calls her "Mahee". She cannot pronounce her own name, Meaghan. I want my daughter to get her a hearing test and she says she does not think she has a hearing problem.
Avatar m tn I do not have Sjogrens, Lupus or any of those auto-immune diseases according to my Rheumy. I would have to say the swallowing problems came first but now my speech is being effected dry mouth or not. I do this most everyday at some point or another. This started this year, it is my fairly newest symptom.
Avatar m tn Then there is the mechanical part of communicating our language and that is speech. Problems with speech can include just trying to get the words out, pronouncing the words, the tonal quality of our speech, using emphasis and inflection. Problems with speech can be from weakness or spasticity of the muscles of our mouths, throats and vocal cords. Or it can be with the way our brain tries to direct the speech.

Avatar n tn After the first few days of not being able to swallow, I am now happy to say that I can eat pretty much anything. Two problems, one minor, one I don't know. First, I have what seems to be heart burn right up in the center of my chest under my neck. Has anyone else out there felt this? Is it normal? Second issue, my voice. I figure my Doctor has done a pretty good job so far. Pretty happy. I just can't talk right yet.
Avatar f tn s symptoms include serious fatigue, stumbling, hands, face tingling, and going numb. Headaches, vision problems, speech problems, bladder problems, and what I call brain fog. I know there's more. I just can't think of them right now. I actually have been in a fog a bit today. I have been thinking about getting her to go to the eye doctor this time. Just on the premise of getting her eyes checked.
Avatar n tn The doctor promoted speech therapy and said there was nothing to worry about. I also took him to a child neurologist for an exam. The neurologist also did not seem to think anything was wrong. He also mentioned speech therapy and time. However the school district evaluated my son with specialists and said that he was possibly autistic. I don't know what to think. I know my son have some problems and is slow but I'm not comfortable with Autism.

Avatar f tn (CNN) -- Parents of children with special needs are demanding an apology from conservative political pundit Ann Coulter for tweeting after Tuesday's foreign policy debate that she approved of "Romney's decision to be kind and gentle to the retard." It appeared to be a response to critiques of Mitt Romney's debate performance, but it wasn't the first time Coulter used the "the r-word" during this election season.

Avatar f tn I will try to make a long story short. My son who 6.4y/o was tested by the school because of behavioral issues. I had a meeting with the school 2 days ago, to review the results of all the tests. The KTEA-II came out very high 98 to 99.6 percentile on all categories. Also in her report she wrote, that that it could be a underestimate of his true abilities, b/c he refused to participate. So, he's smart and bored with school.
Avatar f tn They said its a small one and doesnt affect him latchen on. But th fact use are sayin u no of people and they hav problems with speech now scares me :(!
647350 tn?1228618670 The doctor who I saw (one covering for my GP) told me that my speech was odd to her. It seemed, to her, that I had a 'mouth full of candy' making my speech seem odd. She suggested that I follow up with my neurologist. She also said it could just be due to the fact that she had never seen me before and didn't really know me, but it would be a good idea to have it checked out anyway. Has anyone else ever been told that MS has caused speech disturbances like this?
Avatar f tn There are two types of speech disorders that occur in MS, dysarthrias and dysphonias. Speech problems where the motor muscle components of speech are affected are dysarthrias (these typically affect volume control and articulation) while speech problems that affect voice quality are dysphonias.
Avatar m tn Hi there. Well, what a good parent you are to look objectively at your child and to have a desire to help him! Good job recognizing that there may be a problem. Speech develops at different rates for all kids for sure. Your son does seem to fall outside of normal. As he goes to 'school'--- is this a preschool? What do they say? Usually preschools are good at identifying kids with various issues. There are three parts of speech. There is articulation which is saying the words.

Avatar m tn t say much. Not communicating very much has fed my speech problems and really hurt my social skills and my self-esteem, so I've decided to finally try to do something about it so I can feel comfortable making conversation with people. After listening to recordings of my speech and watching myself speak on video and in a mirror, I definitely noticed that I don't speak with very good articulation.
Avatar m tn I have no problems with the 's' sound. I usually screw up on sentences that have alliteration or any repeatable stuff in the sentence. The word "sentences" has two "en" letters and that kinda screws me up.
Avatar n tn 45mm is mildly dilated so no concern yet. When it gets to 50-52mm it's seen as a problem. I know a difference of just 5-7mm doesn't sound much, but in cardiac terms this is a big difference.
9771188 tn?1405907831 Has anyone had problems communicating? I have problems with finding the right word to use. Sometimes I use I will get so frustrated. My family and friends say that I repeat myself a lot. I do know this, especially when I am excited, happy or upset. I completely lose my train of thought. I used to be able to speak in public, and train people. This has been difficult for me. Am I alone? I have battled through much worse demons than this, but I don't want to give up now.
