Avatar f tn This is common for people to experience dry throat or mild sore throat months after tonsillectomy. I also have this mucus thing on the back of my thraot as well. Doesnt seem to move when I swallow. Have you tried gargling since your surgery. This might help. This doesnt seem like its anything to be alarmed about. I have the same thing when I wake up. I just drink lots of water when I wake up and the dry throat goes away.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your reply. I thought I was posting to a doctor, but after I posted, I realized I was posting for other patients. That's OK, though. I just want to hear from somebody. I'm sorry you've gone through surgeries. It had to have been very scary. I remember how frightened I was when I had surgery on my pituitary gland. It wasn't as invasive as a craniotomy or laminectomy but it still made me feel very vulnerable.
Avatar f tn Doc did mention that her throat muscles looked weak and that she may be referred to a speech pathologist. After endoscope she felt immediate relief. No more feeling like the liquid or food was caught. That night she was able to get down 2 cups of water, jello, and noodles. However, the next morning she said the feeling was starting to return. She has appt to see a speech pathologist because we really need answers. Since October she has lost 40 pounds.
Avatar m tn But i am afraid that i heard that even after tonsillectomy, the problem may recur after 2-3 years.
Avatar f tn on to anti-bionics. after this period of time, just half a week or so after moving into a new home, i started getting chronic allergies again, coughing, hacking up mucus, large mucus build up again, pharyngitis. at one point my doctor suggested mono as a problem i could be facing, but never spoke much of it. Im about to have a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and a septoplasty in about 3 days.
Avatar m tn every since i was little i have had problems with my throat and i have been to the doctor they have said there is nun wrong with them but i look up here and all of the sighs that are listed are the same ones that are wrong with my tonsils so what should i do?
1225678 tn?1267136608 Hi, I had surgery almsot 3 weeks ago for a complex aeurysm. They were not able to remove all the aneurysm due to the complications and dangerous position it was in. However this was , in my mind, the worst things that can happen. I have many questions and can't seem to get my neuro specialist to talk. Will this piece grow back? faster thatn first time? Are there things I can do to avoid this from happening?
1088527 tn?1425313375 I really feel for you with your swallowing problems. Is it possible this latest issue is related to a flare and may improve, or do you think it's a new 'normal' for you? I don't suffer from swallowing problems per se, only for a few minutes after my nocturnal choking episodes when I'm sick so don't have any suggestions, only cyber hugs. :-) Hopefully the speech therapist will be able to help you. If not though, don't lose heart as there are some other options.
Avatar f tn Today is the 6th day after my tonsillectomy, there is something poking me in my throat near where my tonsils used to be, it would start hurting and 10 minutes later it would start again. It would really hurt when I would drink or eat something. Please help me figure out what is happening.
Avatar f tn I've had problems with my tonsils all year. Tested for mono and strep but they came back negative, I've been on medication with no luck so I'm always shrugged off and told that it's a viral case of tonsillitis. I have no other symptoms other than discomfort/trouble swallowing and breathing at night. It constantly feels like I have an egg in my throat... and I'm guessing the white bits are tonsil stones? I'm really getting frustrated.
Avatar n tn I have been having very annoying problems with my throat and tonsils for quite a while. My tonsils have been two different sizes for at least 2 years. One is kinda flat looking while the other one is more ball shaped, I don't know why or how this happened but it seems strange to me. I have also had tonsil stones pretty much constantly for almost 2 years too. Right now there are very small white streaks on one of my tonsils.
Avatar m tn The first type, ‘‘classic Eagle’s syndrome,’’ typically occurs in patients after tonsillectomy, although it can also occur after any other type of pharyngeal surgery. A palatable mass may be observed in the tonsillar fossa, its palpation sometimes exacerbating the patient’s symptoms.
Avatar n tn I have two reasons for wanting a tonsillectomy and probable uvulopalatopharyngoplasty....I have tonsiloliths (my primary reason) and mild sleep apenea for which I use c-pap sometimes, but don't tolerate it well. The ENT I saw said a tonsillectomy at my age would be extremely painful..."more painful then having a baby". He went on about how much pain I would have and really scared me.
Avatar m tn Then there is the mechanical part of communicating our language and that is speech. Problems with speech can include just trying to get the words out, pronouncing the words, the tonal quality of our speech, using emphasis and inflection. Problems with speech can be from weakness or spasticity of the muscles of our mouths, throats and vocal cords. Or it can be with the way our brain tries to direct the speech.

9771188 tn?1405907831 Has anyone had problems communicating? I have problems with finding the right word to use. Sometimes I use I will get so frustrated. My family and friends say that I repeat myself a lot. I do know this, especially when I am excited, happy or upset. I completely lose my train of thought. I used to be able to speak in public, and train people. This has been difficult for me. Am I alone? I have battled through much worse demons than this, but I don't want to give up now.
Avatar n tn I had speech problems ( in #1 ) and now I am talking fluently after taking mirtazapine. Whats going on? Thank you and expecting your answers.
1374969 tn?1321457490 m trying to say but I have trouble getting the words out. This has happened to me before, a few years ago, but that was after a head injury. It went away after a couple of weeks but I have not had any head trauma since then. Has anyone else experienced this? How long does it normally last?
Avatar f tn I have an appointment with my ENT Dr. next week, but my tonsil stones are driving me insane. I haven't been able to swallow or eat due to them being so large and my tonsils being swollen. I've tried googling tips and all I can find are websites trying to sell me products. Does anyone know of ways to get them out? Is a tonsillectomy common for this issue? I've also have had problems with strep as well, but only about 2 or 3 times a year.
