Sore throat every morning

Common Questions and Answers about Sore throat every morning

I have been waking up every morning for a couple of months now with a sore throat and when I clear my throat there is some blood in my saliva. If I get up in the middle of the night it happens as well. In fact anytime I have been asleep and wake up there is some blood in my saliva. I know that I snore. My brother says he thinks it's a nasal infection but why would it last this long? I was laid off for two months and just recently started working again.
Just about every morning I wake up with a very stuffy nose, which can also come with a headache. I have been diagnosed with cluster migrane headaches, and when I take Imitrex the headache goes away, which tells me it's not a migraine, that maybe it's a sinus problem in the morning. If I take an Excedrin the headache goes away, and so does the suffy nose. I also notice that if I lay on the side where the nostril is not stuffy, the stuffyness clear up.
I have noticed every so often I will have a sore throat. It looks raw and unpleasant. Is it common to get sore throats? I thought maybe this was caused by the acid reflux going back into the throat??? Also I am on 5days of doing the prevpac and am wondering how long it takes to heal?

I have a sore throat that I just can't seem to get rid of. About a month ago I went to the doctor and was given amoxicillan for 10 days, the sore throat went away and a week later it came back. I have some congestion which I can't get rid of from blowing my nose, it stays in the back of my throat. When I wake up in the morning I am extrememly dry. My tongue has a light white coating on it which goes away throughout the day but returns every morning.
My 15 month old has a sore throat that is so bad he refuses to eat or drink. We took him to the doctor and he checked his ears and throat so fast that the total time spent with us was 5 minutes tops. As he was walking out the door he says he is calling in a script for an antibiotic for ear infection. In my confusion and crying child in arm I should have said stop and take time to thoroughly check my child but did not.
I've been suffering from a sore throat on the right side for about 2 months now and am at a loss for what to do? The pain is mild & daily from morning to night and occasionally travels to my ears. I've also had lingering discomfort on the right side of my groin, and a bit of a loss of apetite. I'm 30 years old and have been a moderate smoker (about 5 cigarettes a day) for 15 years & am a moderate drinker as well.
Lady, when I was on tx,,,I also had lots of sore throats. The meds will dry you out so that is why the sore throat. It helped at night when I went to bed to have a humidfier in my room. Also,,drinking as much water as you can helps and if my throat was hurting really bad,,,I would rub vicks on my throat also at night and would feel better in the morning. Hope it gets better soon!
i took medications and got well years later… 2 years ago i began having new issue, its the sore throat, it began in summer time 2011 , went to 3 ENT Doctors, took many anti-bio-tics and allergy meds … the last one made me a camera scan, entered from my noise to check all from the top of my mouth till the top of my stomach, he saw clearly all my throat.

Then after 4days the pain was not their but but i saw there were 2 white raised spot on right 2 on left tonsil and one on uvula my mouth was very dry by then.. I don't experience any fevers, sore throat, or anything like that. I feel fine tho I've had this problem for as long as I could remember. Nevertheless, I still don't know what it is, how i got or how to permanently get rid of it. Any help would be appreciate.
I performed oral sex for about 15 seconds on a friend last night (very brief, no ejaculation) and woke up this morning and have experienced a sharp pain every so often in my throat when I swallow. I am assuming I wouldn't be experiencing discomfort this quickly afterward if it was an STD, but I was just wondering what others thought? Alternatively it could be strep throat, but I haven't been around anyone with it. It's kind of a different sort of pain anyways. Thoughts? Thank you!

How common is sore throat and cold weather? As you all know it's winter time and everyone around is getting sick. And I did had protected sex with a female around two weeks ago. This morning I had a sore throat. Other than that, I haven't seen any other symptoms. I want to forget about it and move on. Should I be worry about sore throat? Or just forget about it and move on with my life?
About 5 years ago I started getting a raspy voice, and loosing my voice. every morning I would have a sore throat and no voice, but fine by mid-day. A couple years later, I was refered to an allergist, they thought is was postnasal and I had an operation to straiten my septum. No change (except right after the operation because I had not been able to eat anything for a couple days). I finally went to a GI doc where I had an upper GI.
I had protected anal sex and unprotected oral sex with someone about one month ago. After 9 or 10 days later, I start to have symptoms like coughing, sore throat, dry mouth, dry lip, and growing wisdom teeth on left side of the face with swollen gland (little bit pianful when you touch it). Most of symptoms diappearred after I drank a lot of water and couple days of antiboitoic medicine. However, coughing persisted till today (that is about almost 3 weeks now).
I developed cold symptoms about 2 weeks ago, starting with a sore throat, then a stuffy nose, and then a slight "itchy" cough. The cough subsided within 4 days, and the stuffy nose practically subsided, but I STILL have a sore throat. It seems to act up at night the most, and during the day it almost goes away to the point where I feel perfectly fine.
I use it every day, and for the past 3 weeks, I haven't had the sore throat thing at all. Just thought I'd share so this winds up in the archives for someone else with the same problem.
I also have that problem... I had a bad cold for awhile and it has gone but now I get a sore throat every morning (so sore that it hurts to swallow) and I need to clear my throat constantly, especially if I'm talking. I don't smoke but I'm around a lot of 2nd hand smoke and I'm not allergic to anything.
And my man and I had a lot of sex this month so I'm a little unsure what to think what to expect? I felt fine this morning I started getting the sore throat a few hours ago it.was small, as the night goes gets worse :/ opinions? Advice?
I have had this problem for about 4-6 months now, and as I am without health insurance, cannot readily go see a doctor. every morning, I wake up terribly congested. Sometimes it is coupled with a headache (I'm assuming sinus) and a sore throat. Any idea why this could be? Usually in about an hour, it clears up and I am fine. It happens no matter where I sleep. I try to sleep on my side, but I toss and turn alot at night so I never know what position I will end up sleeping in.
