Avatar m tn Are there any side effect of taking vitamins(e.g. vitamin D+calcium) for long time as 3 months or more. Does "Omeprazole 20mg" cause any harmful effect in long term use ?
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if permanent loose stools a common side effect of the regular intake of Omeprazole? I have no other side effects whatsoever.

Avatar n tn Here it is January 2014 and I am pretty sure I have one of the possible side affects of taking omeprazole, severe itchy skin. Twice in the last month I stopped taking it for a few days and believe I even had a withdrawal side affect. This was when I was just falling to sleep it felt like I could not breath. The first time I went to the ER and had various test performed which all came back negative. The second time occurred about 4 days ago when I stopped taking omeprazole again.
581954 tn?1223391496 m not really sure of the side effects of Omeprazole (Prilosec). But I do know you might be able to find some info on it in the Health Pages Tab. Were you tested for Thyroid problems? And I'm not talking about them just pulling a TSH value on you. You would need FreeT3 and FreeT4 values for it to be sufficient info to see if you have a Thyroid issue. The fatigue, light headedness, nausea, and heart burn/ GERD are all symptoms of Thyroid issues.
1364792 tn?1278051187 I started taking omeprazole for acid reflux but stopped it after reading about the side effects, anemia as it takes out vitamin b12,broken bones as it takes out calcium and a risk of severe cold infections as it takes out vitamin c.A local doctor links acid reflux with anemia,so I started taking multi vits with iron and the acid reflux disappeared.
Avatar n tn Hi. I'm on my 12th week. I've been diagnosed before with GERD. Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. Anyone here experienced the same?
1431734 tn?1421011671 s ahead with your HCV treatment. I think you will do well if you have the same frame of mind and keep on top of the side effects as they come. I worked throughout my 48 weeks of TX -- wasn't easy but it got done. Since you are already on the thin side, be sure to keep up your nutrition during treatment. You might have to work at that -- which is something I had to do too. Big hug to you for beating breast CA...now go beat that HCV!!
Avatar f tn If it quits working then switch off of the H2 Antagonist drugs (zantac, pepcid etc) and go to the PPI (omeprazole etc) as they are much stronger and instead of reducing stomach acid they turn it off altogether.
Avatar n tn As you can see, most of the side effects appear to be gastrointestinal, which means we have to be aware of whether our symptoms are coming from the Reflux/Barrett's, etc., or could be the result of too much medicine for too long a period of time. My doctor was not saying don't take the drugs; on the contrary, he was saying take only the dosage you need to control your symptoms.
Avatar n tn When I came home I read up the side effects and I seem to have all of them. My Doc said to try them again and within a week all the nastiness came back. Have now stopped again and feel so much better. I was blaming the methotrexate for feeling ill but I now know it wasn't, don't know what the long term effect will be re the naproxen. Is their an alternative to omeprazole ?
Avatar n tn t answer other that to say do a search here and/or on the web for side effects of omepraole. If that is a possible side effect discuss with your prescribing doctor you may be able to get help from some other medication.
Avatar m tn During treatment my stomach lining was destroyed and I was told that I would be on a PPI for the rest of my life. I have been on Omeprazole 20mg 2x/day since treatment and for nearly 10 years now. INF/Riba put a hole in the lining of my stomach that will never heal (unless the liver specialist lied about that also).
Avatar m tn Good luck, let us know how its going. And take heart - side effects come and go for lots of people so it may be in a few weeks this will pass. Hang in there.
Avatar m tn As far as working during treatment, it will depend on a lot of things; such as the type of job you have (physical vs sedentary), how flexible your work schedule is, whether your job entails working in a hot environment...lots of things make a difference...and, most of all, how well your body tolerates the treatment meds. I went through 48 weeks of treatment and I worked all through it.
Avatar f tn He was on top of transplant list but all 3 livers that became available were unacceptable. Treatment side effects are nothing compared to end stage liver disease so I am very motivated to get through this for my son and myself. I was able to work FT and care for an aging parent in 2005. She passed away in January of this year. I will miss her support but unfortunately will have more free time.
Avatar f tn Does everyone become ill from the side effects or have there been cases where side effects are minimal? I have had a lot of information given to me in a short period of time and frankly I am somwhat overwhelmed. I would appreciate some feedback.
