I had not taken the omeprazole for awhile but when I started treatment with sovaldi and olysio I started taking it again because I was having a huge problem with gas and pressure. It helps me enormously. Some people say you should not take it with treatment drugs but I contacted both Sovaldi and Olysio and was told it is fine to take. Plus, my doctor also said it is okay. I have cirrhosis. I take 20 mg twice a day as prescribed by my doctor.

A couple years ago he also put me on 20 mg Omeprazole to take once a day for 14 days, after which he said I could start taking the Ranitidine again if i still had the heartburn.

You're incorrect. Omeprazole isn't a definitive treatment for peptic ulcers in that it won't correct the underlying problem, but it can alleviate a good deal of the pain associated with ulcers by reducing the amount of stomach acid (the actual substance causing the pain). Omeprazole and other PPIs can and do give ulcer patients a better quality of life while they heal.

Is it possible to have a reverse reaction to Nexium / omeprazole? It never really made the symptoms of my recently diagnosed hiatal hernia caused reflux (lump in throat, mostly) go away. It seemed to help for 2 weeks, but after 1 month it seemed to aggravate GERD symptoms. I am reading a lot on the subject, experimenting with diet and relaxation and the occasional spoonful of Maalox. I relate to the person who said they felt fine until after the endoscopy.

I have been having burning throat and chest pains for the last two years also It has become increasingly worse and the doctor stopped all anti depressants ( I was down to a small dosage) I am constantly in pain Constantly feel sick and I am very lethargic I am having an endoscopy next monday and have been told to stop taking omeprazole and the symptoms are becoming unbearable!! I was very worried about life without Omeprazole, but I am in week 5 of treatment and have been able to manage without it. The RIBA makes it worse. GERD can be miserable for sure, best of luck.

Losec or OMEPRAZOLE is what I am taking now and yes it works fine.I was told by the pharmasist thst it is a generic of prilosec. Ask ur dr on the dosage u need....the instructions on the box r to take for a period of time and stop.....but ur dr may tell u something different.If I stop for one day I can tell, so do ask ur dr what meds r right for u and what dosage to take and how.

I told the nurse at my primary doctors about breathing menthol and all she did was laugh at me. I am betting you need the Omeprazole dosage upped. I was taking 40 mg. a day and they upped it to 40 mg. 2x a day.

She has been prescribed with Mox 250mg( Amoxycillin capsules), Maclar 250mg( Clarithromycin), omeprazole tabs. Will it be sufficient for the cure with regular dosage or please suggest any additional measure.

I went back to the stomach doctor for a check up and she told me to stop taking the omeprazole and take something less strong like zantac. Right now, however, towards the end of my treatment and nearing my next appointment, I feel no better. On the omeprazole, the symptom is controlled, but off the omeprazole, my stomach becomes extremely bloated, I am in constant discomfort, and there is even a lot of reflux depending on what I eat. I have also been put on a high fiber diet for this entire duration, and have removed anything that inflames my stomach from my diet.

Hi I have just been diagnosed with Rhuemertoid Arthritis and was presbribed with Sulfasalazine, Naproxen and Omeprazole DR. My ccp lgg count is 41 unit which is a moderate positive level. I wonder whether I can just take Sulfasalazine and avoid Naproxen (pain killer) and Omeprazole (acid reducer) if pain is within my endurance level. Hi, Do you think a different manufacturer, could possibly make a slightly diffrent product,or maybe a different coating ? that could change the makeup of Omeprazole, or any other product for that matter.

Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. Anyone here experienced the same?
