Shoulder operation rotator cuff

Common Questions and Answers about Shoulder operation rotator cuff

operation

Avatar f tn Hi, arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs cause minimal trauma to the tissues that surround the shoulder and the rotator cuff. Because of this patients have less damage to these nearby structures. Most important of these surrounding structures is the large deltoid muscle over the outside of the shoulder. Detachment of the deltoid is a potential problem and is avoided by the arthroscopic technique. Pain is bound to happen after any operation.
Avatar m tn Hi, i was just wondering if anyone would know if a nerve block i had for a shoulder operation could cause the issues im having with my shoulder and arm now, before i had only pain in my shoulder(rotor Cuff), after the operation and nerve block i had , i am still numb 6 mnths later, have burning feelings in whole arm, cannot turn wrist properly, fingers feel like they are "dead", limited use , all of this and im only 32 years old. Any answers would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn I have been advised to have an operation (arthroscopic) to the tendons of my rigth shoulder. The procedure is to repair the rotator cuff tendon and the biceps tendon. This could be due to an old injury as I was analyzed some years back with a frozen shoulder. Recently the pain and disconfort on my rigth shoulder was accelerated by exercising at the gym. I have now rested for 6months and the pain has gone away but I have lost some power in my right shoulder.
535758 tn?1213715961 I did not have shoulder pain before the neck surgery however, now I have pain in both shoulders. Eight weeks ago I had slap and rotator cuff surgery because I was told my shoulder was torn. I am not getting any better! It was my left shoulder they operated on however, now both are hurting without any relief. I don't know how my shoulder was torn bad enough to have to have slap and rotator cuff repair without knowing it........I woke up after neck surgery this way!
Avatar m tn the scapula (shoulder blade), the humerus (upper arm bone), and the clavicle (collarbone). The rotator cuff connects the humerus to the scapula. The rotator cuff is formed by the tendons of four separate muscles: the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis. These muscles raise and rotate the arm by pulling on the tendons. As the arm is raised, the rotator cuff keeps the humerus bone tightly in the socket of the scapula.
Avatar m tn Shoulder impingement syndrome is a result of damage to rotator cuff. Rotator cuff is the muscles and tendons around the shoulder joint which enable the arm to move in all directions. This can occur in sports persons like in swimming, golf, over head arm movements and in rheumatoid arthritis. It is difficult to say what it is until physical examination and x-rays are seen. It could be dislocation or a fracture or rotator cuff injury. Consult a orthopedician for further assistance. Best.

Avatar n tn I had a level 2 boarderline level 3 tear of my right rotator cuff tendon, bursitis and a bone spur all on the right side) I had surgery in early March and am now having a burning sensation that will stop you in your tracks in that shoulder several times a day. Is this normal? What is the cause of this?
Avatar m tn Your symptoms of not able to raise your arm above your level of shoulder on left side suggest that this might be due to biceps tendonitis, rotator cuff tendonitis, or rotator cuff calcific tendonitis. Does your shoulder ever give way? Did your shoulder previously have pain, but is now only stiff? How long have you had your shoulder pain and have you tried anything to help it? I think your symptoms are suggestive of rotator cuff injuries.
Avatar f tn Increased signal within the infraspinatus tendon consistent with tendinopathy. No full-thickness rotator cuff tear. Supraspinatus, subscapularis, and teres minor tendons appear grossly normal. No muscle belly atrophy Biceps: Normally located the bicipital groove. Intra-articular tendon normal in signal. Anchor intact Labrum and cartilage: No obvious labral tear or full-thickness glenohumeral cartilage defect Marrow soft tissues: No fracture. Marrow signal grossly normal.
Avatar f tn The commonest site for bone spurs in the shoulder joint is at the rotator cuff muscles, which help rotate the shoulder joint. This happens because of repetitive movements involving rotation of the arm. This causes spurs to develop which irritate the tendons resulting in pain and swelling. This is commonly referred to as the rotator cuff disorder. This can cause referred pain to the chest. The pain can also be due to other causes like cervical rib, cervical spondylosis or disc prolapse.
1280322 tn?1302780827 should get checked out-might be rotator cuff or pinched nerve in your neck or a combo. i had similar and they found herniated disk @c5 and torn rotator cuff. gfo to primary and see if need referral to a GOOD (i cannot stress that enough-it took a year before i found my good doc) ortho. if that's what they find, of course!! be well and best luck!!
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 47 year old female who had arthroscopic shoulder surgery in November.2007. My first MRI report before surgery read... Shows a definate high grade articular surface supraspinatus tear with suspected small full thickness communication explaining the subacromial bursal distention.I still have limited motion and pain in my shoulder constantly. My shoulder aches all the time and I get pains that shoot down the outside of my arm to the elbow.
Avatar m tn Is the tendonitis in your Rotator Cuff? I ask this because Rotator Cuff Tedonitis is also commonly called Shoulder Tendonitis. Pain can be even more extreme when you sleep on the shoulder. Again it's important to obtain proper treatment to avoid this becoming a Chronic Condition. I'd really consult a specialist. Please let us know how you are doing.
Avatar m tn ve had 3 cortisone injections 1 year of physio therapy an MRI which led to an operation, to which my doctor thought i had a rotor cuff tear (it turned out i didn't) so i changed my manual job and gave up my favorite hobby (golf) only to find that 2 years down the line i'm in the same position again! Only this time the pain feels twice as bad, and its moved to my color bone and shoulder blades, and some times at the top of my spine.
Avatar f tn I was mowing with a riding mower I heard and felt a load pop. Ihave been told its not a torn rotator cuff, its just a strain. I still have constant pain in my shoulder and I found a bruise on my shoulder it looks like it is going away but it looks like it covered all of my shoulder. What does this sound like? And what if anything can be done?
Avatar f tn can shoulder bursitis be cured? Had 3rd rotator cuff surgery and report says I have massive irratative bursitis. what exactly is that? Is it like arthritis?
Avatar f tn This sounds like a rotator cuff injury. Rotator cuff tear of the shoulder causes pain and weakness at the joint. Complete rotator cuff tear results in inability to raise the arm away from the side under your own strength. This is usually injured due to excessive force like trying to catch a falling heavy object or lifting an extremely heavy object with an extended arm. Consult an orthopaedic surgeon for evaluation.
Avatar f tn I am 75 and last year had surgery for massive rotator cuff repairs due to a fall on my right shoulder. It has taken a year for recovery. I have full range of motion but weakness on over the head movement. Meanwhile I fell again on the left shoulder. I had two injections which helped briefly. The MRI shows massive retracted rotator cuff tendons. My choices are biological repair or reverse replacement. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I then went on to have shoulder surery where they performed a rotator cuff repair, shaved down osteophites. They did not touch the labrium in hopes the rotator cuff repair would help allow the labrium to heal on its own. I have now been in PT for 3 months and developed sharp pain to my bicep and numbess and tingling down my arm into my hand. My hand turns pale and is cold to the touch. This happens with any raising of my arm above 45 degrees.
4341904 tn?1365695144 There is mild rotator cuff tendinopathy seen without evidence for tear. Long head of the biceps tendon is normal in position and intact. No labral tear is seen. Glenohumeral ligaments appear intact. No abnormal bursal or joint fluid. AC joint is intact. Type II-III acromium is noted. IMPRESSION: Mild cuff tendinopathy without tear. Type II-III acromium.
Avatar f tn Received a call from my latest surgeon informing me, (after a bone scan and an MRI last week) that I do INDEED have a torn rotator cuff. To make a long story short, went to family physician 2 years ago and was told that I just had bad arthritis in my shoulder. He treated me with steroid shots (more painful than childbirth.LOL) for a few times. Then he decided I had something more serious than arthritis and recommedned I go to an orthopedic surgeon, which I did.
