Common Questions and Answers about Sharp stomach pain in pregnancy

stomach-pain

I am about 11 weeks, and last night I started getting this sharp pain in the lower area of my stomach. It has not gone away so I called my Dr. this morning she said to lay down and take some tylenol if it doesn't go away to come in later this afternoon. It's a very strange pain it's kind of sharp but constant it's not cramping. It does not go away though its kind of where my leg connects to my stomach on the right side.

As things move to make room, it is normal to have some discomfort. Many women experience a sharp pain in their lower abdomen when they sit up or move quickly. This is due to stretching of the round ligaments. If you are having constant pain, I would talk to your doctor. If, however you get periodic pain that is related to sudden movements or putting pressure on your abdomen, then it is probably just your body changing and adapting. Congratulations on your pregnancy.
I had a laderoscopy nearly 3 weeks ago now treating endometriosis and my dr inserted the mirena during the same operation. Since then i have been getting very sharp pain in my lower tummy which sometimes makes me nearly faint. Can anyone tell me what this may be?
Every now and then when I am laying on my side or sitting in a weird way, I get a real sharp pain there and I don't know what causes it. It usually only lasts a few seconds and then I don't experience it for a few days. Anyway, I asked my doctor and he said that it is normal, but I still can't shake the feeling that its not. I also get some not-so-sharp pains in my uterus from time to time which I have been told is the uterus stretching.
Last night I had sudden sharp pain in my lower stomach during intercourse. My husband and I stopped but it just got worst and I couldn't move at all for an hour. The pain seemed to jump all over my stomach but most of it was in my very low abdomen. Very slowly the pain went away. I thought it might have been something with my bladder but today I could feel that my cervix and what feels to be my uterus was really swollen and still tender.
So I'm about 4 weeks pregnant, and I've been having this pain in my lower right side of my abdomen. Not like a hunched over hurting type of pain, but like a sharp quick pain every once in a while.... Is this normal? I called my doctor's office as I was having some throbbing going on the other day, and they told me to take tylenol because they think I was a little over stimulated from all the meds I was on. Do you think that it could be from this, or something more serious?
I'm 10w5d and since last night I've had some sharp (only last a few sec but happens a few times an hr) pain in the middle and sometimes on the side of my abdomen and I've had terrible morning sickness this morning, usually I dont. Its like a sharp but kinda dull stabbing pain in my lower stomach it comes and goes but its awfully uncomfortable. Should i be worried ? My sister said it could be round ligament pain but im only 6weeks?
You may feel a sharp stabbing pain, usually in your groin or to one side. This pain may be worse if you stretch up or move sharply. You may notice it at intervals for several days. It may then disappear, only to return a few days later. Abdominal discomfort can also be caused by constipation or by heartburn. Later in pregnancy you may experience rib pain, discomfort from Braxton Hicks contractions, or soreness if your baby is continually kicking in one spot.
I'm 16w3d and a ftm. The past week I have experienced sharp pain in my vagina (sorry tmi) like a jolt of pain that went away a few seconds after. It was kind of weird but no other symptoms such as bleeding, severe abdominal pain etc. I've also experienced occasional pains in my lower abdomen when I change positions lying down or relaxing etc. Is this something to be concerned about? My next doc appointment is in three weeks.

I'm 15w and i keep getting sharp pains in my stomach. If i were to describe it... Like a skewer pokes into me and gets pulled out very fast. But its like right under my skin. Not deep into my stomach. Not like cramps or anything either though. Is it possibly muscle pain? I am just now starting to show a little.
There's about a million reasons for pain during pregnancy. From ectopic pregnancy to labor to normal round ligament pain.
I too am experiencing this excrutiating pain.. Like a sharp stabbing pain in the left inner thigh.. I would say it's at the centre of the fleshy area about 2 inches below the crotch area.. It's like someone has got a red hot poker and stabbed me in the thigh and twisted it.. It only lasts for a few seconds but it totally knocks me sick! If I am asleep it wakes me up and I almost scream out. I find it terrifying. I'm going to make an appointment to see my GP asap.

As the organ stretches and cramps, it pulls on and stretches this ligament, resulting in sharp or stabbing pains behind the belly button. Round ligament pain is common even in very early pregnancy, and becomes exacerbated by sudden movements, deep abdominal stretches and occasionally even by pressure. Www.livestrong.com This is all I could find for you sorry . But it most likely is round ligament pain .
