Seroquel and thyroid problems

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel and thyroid problems

seroquel

Avatar f tn Since seroquel can cause high BG you sure your diabetic and not as a result of seroquel raising your BG? Go to Google and put seroquel into the serch field.
Avatar m tn Fine, but you still should go to the endocrinologist and have your thyroid levels checked. All sorts of things can cause a thyroid to goof up, and an endocrinologist can get to the bottom of it, and it can be treated, and some people improve when a cause can be found.
Avatar m tn Get your thyroid checked. A high percnetage of bi polars devlepe thyroid problems and a wonkey thyroid will mimic bi polar.
Avatar m tn Physiologist? Not psychiatrist? If you google any of these drugs, or just consult the information that comes with it from the pharmacist, it will tell you all the possible side effects, but since individuals differ quite a bit in their experience there's no way to know what you'll experience. I will offer than Seroquel was illegally marketed for pretty much everything, especially sleep, which was an unwanted side effect of taking it, and it is a powerful drug.
Avatar f tn I suferred from gad and panic desorder. I'm on zoloft 175mg, clonopin 1mg 3 times a day, seroquel 100mg to go to sleep and 25 mg twice a day, however, I don't take the seroquel morning dose because it makes me too sleepy. I'm desperate trying to find out why I'm still having anxiety and the ton of meds are not working. I was on disability for two months and just went back to work. I've been constantly crying and being anxious. I don't know what to do.
Avatar m tn Has anyone taken Seroquel and anti-biotics and are now experiencing heart problems? Do these issues subside, I stopped the seroquel when this happened?
Avatar f tn One more thing please taper and stop only one medication at a time as inspite of the proper tapering you may still encounter some withdrawl symptoms like anxiety and insomnia.First taper and stop Seroquel and only then proceed to taper and stop the next medication.
802234 tn?1237830136 My 34 year old son is taking 150 mg imipramine, 6 (1mg) Clonozapam, and 400mg Seroquel, (down from 600 mg) per day. His side effects are weakness, irregular heartbeat and eye problems. One of his eyes has gotten so bad that he may have to get a cornea transplant. I cannot say for sure if the meds caused his eye problems, but he had perfect vision all during school and according to my research seroquel has been know to cause lens problems in the eyes.
663901 tn?1232649671 Yes when I was on Seroquel I had to get an eye exam each year due to the extremely rare risk of cataracts but I saw an opthamologist anyway so it was no big deal. That is statisically rare and no reason to be concerned about Seroquel and a check up as I suggested is the best form of follow up. Seroquel is safe in this regard. In this case (you know I am always factual) your pharmacist was overstating the risk but a follow up visit is generally a good idea.
381616 tn?1204338334 I dont know that I can be any help to you, but I had conflicting tests, and they followed up with a COMPLETE thyroid panel. They now placed me on t3 and t4 treatments. One other thing they found was a serious vitamin d deficiency which was discovered in the full panels. I am no doctor by any means, just sharing my experience in hopes that it helps.
Avatar m tn I haven't been able to find anything on Seroquel and regarding my issue. Does my being 37 years old sound bizarre to have pigment mottling? My eye doctor only asked me if I had ever looked directly into an eclipse (which I have not). I have no idea how this came up and macular problems are not in my family that I know of.
Avatar n tn I gained 70 pounds when I was taking Lithium and Seroquel. I dieted, ate hardly anything and exercised like crazy!! I still gained weight by the tens every couple of weeks. I almost threw the bathroom scale out the window one day!! My normal body weight is about 110lbs, so you could imagine what it was like being 170lbs! Finally, I realized back then that the meds can slow down your metabolism. I went to an Endocrinologist because I couldn't stop gaining weight.
1385254 tn?1279537549 Can seroquel cause breathing problems? I've been taking them for about four years and as of the last month my breathing has been really bad at night when I take them. It's getting worse and the breathing trouble happens within about fifteen to twenty minutes after taking them whether I lay down and go to bed right away or stay up and active.
Avatar f tn I am very sensitive to most psych meds. Currently taking Celexa 1mg daily, lamictal 12.5mg daily and seroquel 50 mg at bedtime to help me sleep. I've had problems with getting to sleep and staying asleep for several years. How long can I continue to take seroquel for sleep? Sometimes it works and sometimes not.
Avatar f tn In my opinion a good thyroid doctor will treat you clinically by testing and adjusting levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4 (not total T3 and total T4), with meds as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels. Symptom relief is all important, not test results. FT3 and FT4 tests results are best used as markers to measure your increased levels as you progress toward symptom relief.
Avatar f tn When did the TSH drop happen relative to the start of Seroquel? My guess is that the TSH drop has far less to do with the Seroquel and far more to do with the T3 content in Diotroxin. Meds with T3 in them often suppress TSH and make TSH an unreliable test. When did you start Diotroxin, and were you on other thyroid meds before that? It looks to me like there may be a little too much T3 in the Diotroxin for you, and you might have to add a little straight T4 to balance out your labs.
Avatar m tn 0 mg at night, and seroquel 450mg. After the addition of seroquel I started having classical music in my head that I could hear when I was hospitalized I asked several people if they heard what I did and they did not. However when I came home from the hospital I didn't have anymore auditory hallucinations. Seroquel helped me a lot with my ocd and gave me a lot of functioning ability. My adverse affects are sleep walking, night sweats and shaking hands until I eat something sweet.
1563533 tn?1345366296 I take 25mg seroquel at night and 200mg zoloft a day also. I plan on going to FL for vacation in July and when I get back I have to start Hep C treatments, I am going to drink one last time. Can I drink while Im on this med? I know that since I have been taking the seroquel I feel ALOT BETTER!! I was extremely depressed but now Im doin okay. I cant skip this med, Im afraid of that sever depression, but I also want ot let my hair down one last time. What would you suggest?
561706 tn?1333947274 My reaction to the med has been Terrible due to confusion, speech problems, and falling. I wound up in the hospital for two days suspected of having a stroke. Then I was put on medical leave by my employer after an unsuccessful return in Jan. It's a big mess, financially and emotionally. My question is: has anyone suffered a manic episode while withdrawing from Klonopin or other benzoes? I've seen a shrink once and am tapering down.
Avatar f tn She was starting have nightmare regarding death, and her medication was changed to seroquel. About 3 to 4 weeks after starting seroquel she had a seizure ( 1 at home and 2 in the hospital). She was taken off the seroquel and but on Lamitcal and has had 5 more seizures. Is her bipolar disorder causing the seizures?
Avatar f tn Actually the family member who has cyclothymia had hot flashes before the onset of menopause and has thyroid problems as well and has to take a minor dose of synthroid so it might be the first which is always worse in bipolar and the second which is a possibility.
Avatar n tn Will this drug cause more problems or will it help me sleep and get rid of disphoria feelings?
Avatar m tn I believe seroquel caused my eye problems. My vision kept getting worse and worse on seroquel and i just found out i have a serious eye disease called KERATOCONUS. It is suppose to be genetic but no one in my family has this. So it has to be the seroquel. If anyone has eye problems on seroquel make sure you go to a cornea specialist and get checked fo KERATOCONUS. You could also give me a call at 8154822704.
