Avatar m tn I am a chemist and work in a QC lab. I am 6 weeks pregnant and my work does not have a policy of moving me outside the lab while pregnant. I cannot leave work so I am forced to stay working in the lab. Some of the chemicals I work with are Chloroform, toluene, acetonitrile, dimethyl formamide and others. I do not use these chemicals on a daily basis but maybe once a week or so and I work under the hood with protective gloves.
Avatar f tn Another Ameridose worker, Anwar Kabir, said the company followed strict safety rules. Hired in 2008 to help develop a quality control lab, he said the people he worked with on that project were all experts in their field. “They were very nice people, very qualified,” he said. A former New England Compounding salesman was less charitable. The man, who worked for the company from 2008 to 2011, said it was standard practice to sell large quantities of medicine to buyers without patients’ names.
Avatar m tn Both events occurred when I was to come out of the lab after completion of work. Hence the glove was already taken off. My senior colleagues, including my employer, are never worried. Actually, they touched that kind of (potentially contaminated) environment without wearing gloves more often than not. I cannot take it easy just like they do, so I went here for the right answer.

Avatar f tn Doggie is always safe, I'm not sure about the jumping jack though.
377493 tn?1356502149 Hi everyone!! I love looking at everyone's ultrasound pics, it's so great to see those little beans growing and I know how exciting it is to share with everyone. I have however noticed quite a few with mom's full names on them, and sometimes the lab where the ultrasound took place. I was guilty of posting these myself and have now taken them down. I know we all feel so safe in this forum as most of us have gotten to know each other really well.
Avatar f tn saying that I need to be careful because in can easily mis carry at this stage.what do they mean by be careful.like should I watch how I eat or exercise?
Avatar n tn Also, someone needs to invent a less wasteful manner by which to achieve safety with little or no waste. I spoke with our hospital lab manager and she agrees. Wasteful "biohazard" container usage is expensive as well. I reduced the FULL container to 1/8 full.....by ONLY eliminating the "single use vacutainer holders". Int the past the EXACT SAME PLASTIC PIECE was reused multiple times. Again, I've read the bulletin. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I am a grad student working in a research lab and work with P. falciparum so I work with human blood. The blood we use is supposed to be screened and free of virus, but I understand there is a "window period" associated with HIV and whether or not the person donating could actually be positive upon donation and not know it yet.I am concerned because 2 weeks ago, I made a blood smear on a glass slide to check % parasitemia of my culture.
Avatar f tn In Australia there is a site called kidsafe that rates all available car seats, prams, strollers, cots etc that are available. It rates everything from safety through to prices. Just wondering if perhaps the US has a similar site!
Avatar f tn My 9 year old Black Lab, Scooter, has not slept at night a few times in his life, but it's always been a full moon. I am home with him all day and we spend a bit of time out back (3/4th's acre) just exploring or he'll play with the puppy. He is fine during the day. If his hips seem to be bothering him, I give him Tramadol but that's not very often.
675347 tn?1365460645 With Christmas nearly here it's a good thing to think ahead, and think "Dog". Dogs are great scroungers, thieves, counter-surfers, etc, So be one step ahead of them! DON'T let them eat what they like. Some Christmas treats are very dangerously toxic for dogs, such as: *Christmas cake. *Mince pies, *Turkey skin. *Chocolate treats. *Onions -or anything which has been cooked with onions, including stuffing. *Alcohol, or anything containing alcohol. *Turkey or chicken bones.
Avatar f tn The past 2 days I haven't felt the same. I really haven't. I know something is up and I don't feel good. I'm 32 weeks. If I go into a lab or will they stop the contractions or will they just let me have her? Will she even make it this far along? I'm really scared for my baby and wish she would grow a bit more. But I'm feeling like Im going to go in lab or. Anyone know?
Avatar m tn Anyways, one of the samples came back as HIV positive. I was wearing gloves and safety glasses at the time, and I took the HIV positive sample and capped it. At that moment, I felt like something touched my nose and my mouth. I looked on the counter and didn't see a splash or anything and it wasn't like I capped it hard or anything. To be honest, I am not even entirely sure anything hit my face. I then went to the bathroom to wash my nose and mouth with soap.
