What safety measures do labs such as LabCorp take in order to prevent mixing blood specimens? Is it possible for such a lab to misplace a sample and then not contact the agency that requested the test?

HI All, I have been Hypothyroid for over 10 yrs. now and never have recovered from hypo symptoms (hair loss, dry skin, weight gain, cold hands/feet, depression, etc). Been on Synthroid, Armour, and now on Synthroid/Cytomel combo; but, my T3 levels are still low (a month ago on Armour, I was 80 - lab low is 87; switched to combo and I'm still low at 0.7 - lab low is 0.8).

If it is positive we send it out for a Western blot to another lab. Anyways, one of the samples came back as HIV positive. My doc gave me more antibiotics and doc recommended to retested it a little longer than the first retest. So am waiting for my retest. I will discuss it wi th my doc in two weeks. I also did cadidida test, it was negative, parathyroid, negative, thyroid negative. What I haven't done that I want to do is do the imagings, full electrolytes test, hormones test, and see gastrologist. Am going to discuss this with my doc in two weeks.
