risperidone anxiety

Hi ive been taking risperidone for 3 weeks now for social anxiety it seems to be working a little but in extreamly nervous now sence i been taking it is the medecine suppose to make me nervous im on 1 mg are u going through this please let me know.

the problem is that BP pts develop anxiety often, so unless you have anxiety, then you will be ok and will sleep well after the risperidone gets out of your body completely which is abt 3 weeks at most, since the half life is very short, matter of hours

I can vouch for the fact that Risperidone can cause anxiety as I myself have had it due to which I am being tapered from it.Presently I am on 1 mg and after 12 days on 0.5 mg and then two weeks later will be off it.How much is the dose are you on?.It causes dysphoria at higher doses of 3 mg or more.

I am in full blown withdrawal symptoms from stopping risperidone with anxiety and my psychiatrist is back 5 days later.I had to stop because of side effects at 1 mg.What should I do?

I can confidently state from experience that Risperidone use is associated with significant insomnia and anxiety(my personal opinion).This is one med I wont ever take again.

The psychiatrist has now put Glen (16) ASD on prozac (20ml liquid) once a day alongside his 1mg twice a day risperidone (was on 2mg twice daily but had to cut it down due to Glen becoming constipated). Glen's anxiety is still sky high on the risperidone, been on it nearly 8 weeks so she thought she would try prozac as well. Do you think the prozac will help my son?

After a horrrriiiblllleee anxiety I'm feeling quite because I go back to my xanax .I took it before as I needed 2x0.5 so i feel happy now :) I want to be on this med.I don't care if it make me addicted .I just want to feel relaxed and quite because my life is a hell.Does anyone use xanax and feel good?

Risperidone is generic for Risperidal and I think it's a pretty good option for depression & psychosis. Not so much for anxiety though. It should give you a boost or make you feel energized rather than lethargic due to the increased norepinephrine plasma levels. This does not make you gain weight either. See how it goes and maybe you will be able to eliminate your antidepressant or at least decrease it.

Have u googled the meds? I knw citalopram is for anxiety and depression. Risperidone is for mood disorder. My daughter takes them. Not sure bout the others. Google may help. Sorry couldnt be of more help. Good luck.

I have found it extremely difficult and wonder how long the anxiety will continue after stopping the risperidone which for me is just 6 days away.

Hi so i saw my doctor today in i told her that i didnt feel like risperidone was working for me in that i still feel the same way before i started to taking the medecine. So before i was taking 2 in a half mg a day now im taking 2 mg a day in 2 mg a night to make social anxiety go away in so that i can feel better in i was just wonder if u are on 4 mg of risperidone in what does it do for you thanks.

It has been 2 days since I stopped Risperidone and I am getting anxiety and nausea symtoms.Involuntary movements have decreased after stopping medication.

The doctor put me on risperidone in Feb because I was going through a difficult time and can not take anitdepressents. I made decision to get off of it and came to the realization that I have become dependent on it. I was taking it twice a day @ .5 mg. The doctor said to take it down to once a day and this is when I realized after 20 hours without meds that my body and mind became dependent. I started to shake and anxiety went through the roof. An hour after I took one I was calm again.

My four year old grandchild/fosterchild has been to the doctor and now take meds for ADHD. Frist was riddelen that did not work at all. New medication is Risperidone. No change has been noticed. This child before meds was pooping and peeing on her bedroom floor and even after meds. Im at my end and dont understand this kind of behavior.

I'm diagnosed with panic anxiety disorder and I'm in my 2nd week of new medicaments Mirtazapine (remeron) 15 mg and Risset (Risperidone) 1mg but I'm feeling so anxious and more depressed than I ever was.I'm at a break point.Before starting these medication I had my anxiety in higher levels but I could function,I was able to go out,but now I'm isolated and I don't talk to anyone for all the day,I prefer to be alone with my bad thoughts .

But I dont get it, I am not having much anxiety and depression. Whats going on? What do you feel when you are depressed or feeling some anxiety? Can depression and anxiety be hidden? Any full information on "Agitated Depression"?

my son was treated for an acute anxiety attack in his university ER with risperdal 4 days ago. he has not been the same ever since. he has had all of the classic signs of toxicity from this drug. he was treated in our local ER (2 days later) with benedryl and adavan and he seemed fine following the treatment. but the dystonic reactions, disorganized thinking, anxiety, all symptoms continue.

5 mg over 2 weeks yet I am having these anxiety symptoms which I did not have prior to starting Risperidone which was started for a manic/hypomanic episode in July.I am Ok and am on Tegretol as a mood stabilizer and encountered plenty of side effects from Risperdal like lethargy,dullness so He decided to take it off me.I wonder how long this will go on.I wonder how long this will go on.Hope it stops earlier than 2 weeks as you suggested.

Little history, so I was diagnosed with ptsd, bipolar, and anxiety with agoraphobia. My pcp gave me risperidone 2mg and hydroyzine 25mg (3 times daily or as needed). I told my psych I didn't want the risperidone because of already existing obesity issues and I told her the hydroy was just drying out my nose and making me feel like I had a sinus infection all the time. So she gives me ativan 0.5mg (one a day), Prazosin 2 ( 1 @ night).

my son, 9 , was taking risperidone 1mg BID. he has missed his doses for 2 days and now came home from summercamp with signs of tardive dyskinesia. Is this because of stopping the risperidone or has the risperidone been masking the tardive dyskinesia ?

How do you manage withstand side effects of both Risperidone and Seroquel.I found even 1mg of Risperidone made me edgy,nervous and anxious.My hypomanic episode resolved in July and my Pdoc was a month late in tapering Risperidone.He started tapering process in September.In future I shall keep far away from these antipsychotics as possible.A most distasteful experience.

Doctor tried to up the dosage for Solian, it made me feel constricted again like the Risperidone and doctor suggested I try Risperidone again. This time, the same dosage as the last year, 2 mg Risperidone, made me feel okay and I began a new period, with a new job...I was also switched on Prozac(fluoxetine) 20mg and it worked fine for a while. I did a stupid thing, took 5 pills of Prozac because I was bored, wanted to use them sort of as drugs and I ended up hospitalized again...

wow , that's some medication , over the last 10 years i've been on quiet a lot too but for the first 5 year's or so it was mainly anti-depressants and the odd anti psychotic , but they had no odea what they were treating back then, it's only been the last few years i got diagnosed properly ,but they are still not 100% sure about the Bi polar / with psychotic features or Schizoaffective , which is what they call it for now , i don't think there's a whole lot of difference

I am really happy today.Yesterday I took my last dose of Risperidone which I had been taking since the past four months and which had been tapered off by my Pdoc .I never liked this med which had numerous side effects of which I experienced some,thankfully not the worst ones.I will now only have to take my mood stabilizer which I have been taking for a number of years.

She also gets up at night and looks for things or wanders around. The consultant has prescribed risperidone, although we were hoping for Aricept. I am very concerned about this as internet research suggests it is for aggressive behaviour and will result in oversedation even drooling. I don't want my mum to be a zombie - I'd just like her to be more like her old self. Does anyone have any experience of this drug at all? I'm not going to give it to her until I learn more.
