Dr Hagan, is the Restasis contact friendly? if not, i may have to give up the contacts and start using my glasses on a full time basis. Being I am in the Cleveland area I have the best Dr''s too choose from. My eyes are severly dry & Restasis seems to be the best treatment option for me. Also I will starrt taking the Omega -3 suppl. as you suggested.

ReStasis is a revolutionary eyedrop that has changed the treatment of dry eyes world wide for the better. In the USA it is the second most widely prescribed medication. My wife and many of our friends are on restasis.
Also recent studies indicate that 2 or 3 Omega 3 (enteric coated fish oil) greatlyhelp dry eyes. Takes 3-4 months to kick in. Use enteric coated fish oil and start with one/day with evening meal for two weeks then add a second with breakfast.
re not too bad, but I know that this is not they way they were before. Can I use something with for my eyes that would not interfere with the Restasis. I've tried the artificial drops but I don't see any change. Any thing to clear my eyes a little........... And what are the restrictions for Restasis users, if any?????????????? By the way I am a contact lens wearer, but even with that I took a whole week off my lenses and the redness still didn't clear.
I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly. Both my wife and I have moderately severe dry eyes. Both of us are on restasis with complete success. She for 6-7 years and me for one and a half year. IT WILL TAKE 6 MONTHS BEFORE YOU SEE THE FULL BENEFITS OF RESTASIS SO DON'T STOP THEM. Restasis eye drops does not cause cancer if it did neither my wife or I would be taking them.
I personally would not have plugs put in. they fall out, they can scratch the eye. If you're not on Omega 3 I would start them.
I never went to see an ophthamologist but just saw my optometrist, who only used the dye drops in my eyes and did no other tests. She did find dry spots on my eyes. I have been on Restasis for 2 weeks.. WILL the Restasis help with the sensitivity to the lighting and computers? I have heard of Melanin tint glasses. Do those help or will the Restasis "eventually" take care of this? Thank you.
Hi. Last week I started Restasis for dry eyes. I tried temporary collagen plugs but they did not help.. My dry eyes just seemed to come out of the blue last month. (I've had minor dry eye problems for many years). Now, it's all I think about. My main problem is a windy feeling to my eyes, even in my own home. I am actually dealing with that right now. My eyes actually feel better when they have a dry feeling, if that makes sense.
Hi, I was losing my eye sight about 2 weeks ago. It just came out of the blue. I had lens inplants in 2004. Been doing just fine. Until 2 weeks ago. My eye Dr. / surgeon diagnosed as me as possible glaucoma. The pressure in my eyes was 24.5 . He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. As of last Friday I was doing fine, then my vision became blurry again and my left eye is like half open.
So, chronic rebound redness is something permanent right?
I have told everyone about it and many doctors get mad. but i didnt know at that time. i thougt i was doing the right thing because it is over the counter plus it said calm dry and tired eyes. so i thought i was helping me not destroying me. i live in Europe and we dont have doctors like u. i find it amazing that you even take the time to help on this site.

Right now I wear Acuvue Oaysis, which is supposed to be the best lenses for dry eyes. My ophthalmologist told me that my eyes are so dry that they are sucking all of the water out of my lenses, causing them to become completely dry and painful. I've tried everything - rewetting drops, different solutions, not wearing them for a few weeks at a time, but it doesn't matter... every time I put them in my eyes, I have to take them out again.
I have said many times on this forum both my wife and I have very bad dry eyes and we both are on restasis her for about 6-7 years and me for 3 years with excellent results. Restasis is twice/day for the rest of your life and it takes 4-6 months to fully become effective. Read about it on their website and see an Eye MD that specializes in cornea diseases and discuss.
I've had difficulty with intermittent blurred vision for over a year. All neurological tests have been negative. Two months ago, my eye doctor changed my prescription slightly, and also suggested I try Restasis to see if maybe my eyes were just dry. I haven't noticed much of a change. I went today for a recheck. I read the eye chart with my right eye and did OK, but I could barely see the top line with my left eye. I was very shocked, as this has never happened before.

i had cataract sursery 9 months ago, have been noticing poorer vision, was diagnosed with 'dry eyes'. Have been using Restasis for two weeks now, eyes seem irritated, are red, I need to blink a lot. Is this normal? Will this go away if I have to use this product for the rest of my life? How is this helping me?
There is also an over the counter spray for dry eyes called “Tears Again”. Tears may need to be used as often as 6 times/day.
If you took Restasis you have used the best prescription medication. A "trial" of Restasis is a minimum of 8 weeks of therapy using one drop in each eye twice/day. Because of the way Restasis works, it takes two months to "start working". I have found that many patients use it for a few weeks then conclude it won't help.
I'm on restasis, my wife is on restasis, I use restasis in my practice. the medicine does not cause floaters. Floaters can occur at any time. If they start and you are doing something else like mowing the yard, reading a book or starting restasis the relationship is COINCIDENTAL. On the other hand if you are hit in the eye with a fist and note floaters the relationship is CAUSATIVE.
skin etc I am taking Imuron for the igG4 and restasis for my eyes. I use all the Biotene products for my mouth. My rheumatologist sends my blood and other tests to the Mayo Clinic. These things help a little bit. You might talk to your physician about the Restasis. Do they know what is causing the dry eye syndrome ?? I wish you good luck in finding some comfort.
