Avatar f tn My HMO will not cover the cost for Protonix or the generic form. Can you tell me if OTC Prilosec will have the same efficacy as Protonix? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn I am aware of Protonix generic Pantoprazole. I have now been advised by a Pharmacist that Prevacid will help me. Will it?? Is this a Beta Blocker only or more? Are there ANY Proton pump Inhibitors out there other than Protonix and generic?. Is there a hospital injection of medicine that can be given? I will anxiously await any and all replys. I am living on Pepcid now with little relief. My Pharmacy puts Protonix at $737. for 180 40mg.tabs of Protonix and $570 for Pantoprazole.
Avatar f tn The best medicines I have been prescribed are Nexium and Protonix. Protonix has a generic available so is inexpensive and works perfectly for me. Studies have shown Nexium to be consistently the most effective but it is more expensive and not always covered by every health insurance plan. United Healthcare for example does not cover Nexium.
Avatar f tn ~$.37/pill for 20mg Generic, ~$.56/pill for 40mg Generic, ~$.95/pill 20mg Brand, ~$1.10/pill 40mg Brand. For the moment, see if your doc will allow you to use generic Omeprazole (aka, Prilosec OTC). While there are better things out there, it might work as a stop gap measure that's not as extreme as Reglan. Good luck.

Avatar m tn Perhaps your son has allergies to foods with acids? Both orange juice and spicy foods have lots of acid content. You could trial him out on the over the counter Zantac, which is an H2 blocker, and will help with allergic reactions as well as indigestion. Or his own production of gastric acids are in excess and with the added acids in those foods, it leads to sweats, like when people eat hot chilli or hot wings.
Avatar f tn My doc just prescribed me heartburn med Protonix...it is amazing ! I was having the same issues with thinking if I was taking to many tums- the heartburn was KILLING ME !!! Just ask your doc... my doc told me if this med didn't relieve my heartburn that there was another med she could prescribe. ..but the Protonix has been great. Take it once daily and I'm good to go !
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
1387175 tn?1326400997 um what are h2 blockers i'll try it i sick of taking the purple pill everyday i know the generic is cheaper now then the brand but can you tell me what H2 Blockers are or maybe i will google it thanks
Avatar f tn Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
Avatar f tn The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.
Avatar f tn BUT, im mad because i know the dr will tell my dad. And, i cant have that. I dont want my family knowing. Do i have any course of a lawsuit? What do i do? I want to talk to my fam dr but im embarrassed becasue i feel like he wont understand and he will look at me as a dope addict. I never dr shopped, ever. Never.
Avatar n tn I take Prilosec (well the generic version) every morning and luckly that has taken care of the problem conpletely. My OB says it is 100% safe. I had horrible heartburn with my daughter 8 years ago amd she sworethe only safe thing at that time was Tums. Oh...and she was a bald baby. Lol. Oh that old wives tale about heartburn and hair was completely false in that case.

Avatar f tn I have terrible morning sickness and I was given a prescription for ondansetron 4mg which is the generic version of zofran. I'm scared to take it because of the possible side effects and the warnings I've seen on TV. I don't want to take any risks when it comes to my baby. Any thoughts on this?
Avatar m tn I chose not to take the generic or regular form of plaquenil for my Babesia mainly because someone I know someone who took it for her lupus and went legally blind from it.
Avatar n tn Hi there, You seem very to know a lot about certain drugs. I have a question about benedryl. Is it okay to take with pvc's? My heart is structurally normal and I have had all the tests. I'm on 1/4 of a 25mg of tenormin to help with the pvc's and pat. I'm also on protonix for reflux. I was wondering about that drug as well. My cardio suggested claritin but I'm really hesitant to take that.
Avatar m tn I have been on the generic for Protonix for about 2 weeks. Decided to go off! I have severe back pain, in the middle and my ribs hurt so bad it feels like I have been beat up!!! Did not know about this side effect! Of course, the doctors do not tell you anything about the side effects! They just want you to take it. I hope that these pains go away soon! I took the last pill on Saturday and I will go back to Zantac 150 if need be! I am through with medication!!!
Avatar n tn Meds are aspirin (81), protonix (40), HCTZ (25), Lisinopril (10-20) sertraline (50) and now the 6.25 carvedilol.
Avatar m tn I called it a poisoning because she was IVed with Protonix twice even though her drs knew she was allergic.Allergic reactions to Protonix are many and are 99 times out of 100 diagnosed as something else.Unfortunately a certain number of patients will experience severe reactions to Protonix such as pancreatitis. That is why Altana, the German company who developed Protonix made Wyeth set aside monies to cover such reactions before they sold the patent to Wyeth.
Avatar f tn Then when I went to my doctor Thursday, she switched me to Protonix. If they are basically the same, could Protonix work for me if Prilosec OTC didn't? I'd really like to know because I've had this problem for almost 3 months now and I'm tired of eating plain food.
