I know Prometrium is more of a natural progesterone and Provera is synthetic, but I have already done 10 days of prometrium and no period came. Ugh...so frustrating! I have not been diagnosed, but I have heard of Metformin. Of the symptoms of PCOS, the only one I have is the absense of a cycle. I will for sure ask about it...it's worth a shot!

I am taking prometrium to help support the pregnancy (if i am). I usually take provera to start my cycle because i am irregular. I believe you can take prometrium to do the same. I am wondering if i am not pregnant if my af will start while i am on the prometrium. I am not sure if the test they are doing is quantitative. Maybe they are just interpreting the numbers and telling if i am pregnant or not.

Hi everyone, I haven't been on in like 5 months. If you don't know me, my husband and I have been trying to have a baby for over two years. I haven't been on because we stopped trying for a little while. But I'm back. This is something I want so bad I can taste it. I'm not ovulating and my OB won't give me anything to induce it. I'm on provera which is supposed to induce my period and that isn't working either.

provera is usuallly the standard for treating amenorrhea. although duphaston is much the same I do believe that duphaston has been discontinued but iam not positive. Either way please do not take this without a doc's RX and is not to be used as the abortion pill. Taking these meds will bring on a menstrual cycle but this can be very painful and come wiith heavy bleeding.

you take clomid usually cd5-9 or cd3-7, so you have to have a period to know when to take it. you can use prometrium or provera they both induce af. the side effects of prometrium are horrible, i have never taken provera but i have heard good things. you might want to start tracking your bbt to see if you are ovulating.

Hi I take prometrium which is like provera, when i take it anything and everything makes me cry! even if it's not sad or i get so angry i can feel my face get red and my blood pressure go up.

I stopped taking the pill a little over a year ago because my husband and I decided to try for a baby. We tried for 7 months with no luck. I went to my ob/gyn and she put me on provera 10mg for 10 days. I started 2 days after my last pill and then started Clomid 50mg days 3-7. I went on day 21 to have my levels tested, found out I did not ovulate. So we tried again the second month, same treatment, started 2 days after my last Provera pill and did the Clomid cycle. Did not ovulate.

My dr. just put me on Prometrium 200mg at bedtime with hope to get my period. Has anyone taken this for similar reason and what was your outcome? We are trying to get pregnant.

Provera and prometrium can help stop your period, it's the withdrawl that causes a period (so when you stop taking it). I think it depends on your hormones as to how long you cycle is mine only lasts 3-4 days. Really anything over 7 days is abnormal and you should be seen by a doctor. Good luck I hope it gets better.

i took provera for ten days,and i still have had no period at all.is this normal.i had bled three weeks before taking the medicine,doctor said my uterus was still full,he is using provera to strip the uterus out,but nothing has happened.

I am a bit unsure about the provera due to some side effects? How did you find the prometrium I think its similar.

Me and my husband decided we wanted another baby but were told that we could it without help. So we started provera to get a period again then clomid. 2 days again I had to inject myself with Ovidrel 2 days ago and need tomorrow in need to add Prometrium to me. I just started seeing a new doctor and she did the same tests and told me that I am not ovulating and my chances of get pregnant are slim to none unless I take fertility medicine. She put me on Provera(the 10 day perscription) and then when I start my period, she wants me to take Clomid days 3-7 of my cycle. I am not sure about whether or not the cause of the miscarriages were due to the Depo-Provera but I did furthur research and wanted to share some info with those individuals that don't know. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone. I was very young when I took it and didn't get all of the details (ignorance). If I would have known that fact alone, I wouldn't have taken it. If you have a low Progestrone Level it will more than likely cause you to have a miscarriage. Now.....

I have had frequent, irregular periods for over two years and recently (4 months) my husband and I have been trying to conceive but have had no success although I have normal fsh and amh levels. Been tested for PCOS and had a number of ultrasounds. I have taken provera and now have been sent to an infertility specialist for further treatment. I was on Provera last year and my AF came 3 days after my last pill. Should I expect the same time frame on Promedium? Has anyone had experience with this. I'm not sure when I O'd for sure so It's hard to know when to stop by that. I started it a couple of days after I thought I O'd. Any advice would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, the major clinical studies conducted compare estrogen-only to estrogen + progesterone. There haven't been any studies comparing daily vs every other day dosing of prometrium.

I have always wondered if the suppositories affect the eggs and she thinks that prometrium caps are better. Any thoughts about this ladies? This is what she ported: "My RE uses prometrium gel caps instead of progesterone inserts or shots to help with implamentation and the eggs "sticking" They said since they switched, and have started using the prometrium, their success rates have skyrocked and success rates have went through the roof!!!!

we have not been trying and ive been on provera the last week to try to get my period. i stopped the provera and went to the doctor yesterday to do a beta. i will know the results on monday. i still have prometrium left over from months ago (100 mgs), and they told me to start that right away and my lovenox. they told me to take one prometrium, but i am nervous so i am taking one in the a.m. and one before bed. i am freaking out ladies! this is so unexpected...

I seen a OBGYN and he put me on Provera, Clomid, and Metformin. I started Provera and Metformin on 1/15/2011. On 2/7 AF still hadn't showed her face. I called my OBGYN and he told me if AF hadn't shown by 2/9 to take a HPT and if it was negative to start taking clomid. On 2/9 the HPT was negative. I am on my second day of clomid today. My OBGYN said it was possible but not likely to get preggos this month. My question is has anyone else went thru this and conceived without having AF?

Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel. What other alternatives would you suggest to the 100 mg. prometrium?

I dont get my periods unless i take provera and my doc. said that you dont have get your periods to take clomid. I took my 1st dose 2 months ago to get jump start my system and hopefully get pregnant but no luck. Just wondering if anyone has had a BFN while on prometrium, but had a greatly increased bust size? Today I'm 7 dpiui. I woke up and was making breakfast, and my husband said "your boobs look like they could launch missiles!" - he was right! The first thing we noticed was that they are much pointier - like I'm wearing one of those awful cone shaped bras - but I was braless. Then I realized as the day progressed that they definitely seemed much bigger.
