Just to add, wellbutrin and effexor are
for depression primarily with
anxiety a secondary issue. If
anxiety is the main issue, both of these are stimulating anti-depressants that wouldn't normally be given to someone suffering primary anxiety at all unless everything else hadn't worked. Zoloft, on the other hand, does seem to be good for anxiety, so in this case it looks like your primary doc was on a better track than your psychiatrist assuming depression isn't your main problem.
