Prilosec and dry mouth

Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec and dry mouth

prilosec

I have been on Prevacid and Prilosec. I LOVE my Prilosec, it allows me to feel like a normal person. Without it I am in pain, not only in my chest, but in my arms, neck, face, and various weird places on my body.It took about 3 months before I had true relief and you MUST take your pill at the same time every day. You should never miss a dose because it will set you back to square one. I hope you find results!

it gives me a terribly dry mouth. Maybe if ok with your Dr try another blocker such as Prevacid and see how that goes? There is nothing worse than the GB pain you describe .. I have GB issues, too, and can relate. I hope you feel better soon!
The biotene creates more saliva in my mouth, but my mouth feels a bit burned. I used prilosec OTC for a week because I had very mild acid reflux, but nothing worked. Does anyone know what this might be? I had a doctor tell me it could be Schogrens Disease, could it be that?

So right now, I have dry tongue (not mouth), dry throat, mild sore throat and tingling in my fingers. Could these be signs of HIV? Can it take this late to seroconvert? I never had fever, diarrhea, rash and swollen lymph nodes. I am not as anxious as before and I think it couldn't be anxiety this time. Do I need to get tested again for HIV? I apologize for the lengthy text but I just want to give you a complete picture. Thanks.
Hello, Chronic sinusitis or chronic allergic rhinitis can lead to the saliva changes making them sticky and thick and hence dry mouth and tongue. A CTscan of the sinuses may help with the diagnosis. If chronic sinusitis is diagnosed, a course of oral antibiotics or steroids can be considered. Are you taking some medicines like diuretics, antihistamines, antidepressants and muscle relaxants? They can also cause dry throat and mouth.
However, I did see your post on the Prilosec and this confuses me. I have chronic dry mouth/throat and a feeling of something stuck in my throat. Several docs later, all ENT docs always want to give you meds for GERD, which I don't have. I also have Osteo. When I was on Nexium for 4-5 mos straight, I developed severe muscle pain and a fractured rib. Saw an endo doc and she told me to not take the Nexium or Omeprazole (Prilosec) due to the possible side effects.
But only recently has it gone nuclear on me causing pain and real sickness. I've been on Prilosec 12 days and I do think it has helped. But not enough. Who has been in this situation and what is the next level above Prilosec? More than one prilosec a day seems to be a nono. Thanks in advance!
Don't blame your Irritable Bowel Syndrome (if you have this) on your food. YOU are the one that puts the food into your mouth and you alone can control what, when and how much you put into your mouth. All the specialist in the world can you give you advice and you have also had advice via this forum, but at the end of the day it is down to YOU whether you taken this advice on board and do something about it.
I am having the most peculiar symptoms with no real answers. Out of the blue one morning I had a rash on my inner arms, and terribly itchy for that day. After showing that evening, it was all over my arms, but quickly faded and never has repeated this. My first thought was it was my Levoxyl, but I have been taking it for nearly 5 years (thyroidectomy for cancer), and taking that particular pill (88mcg) for over a year.
I have burning in my ears along with dry mouth at one point in the last 8 months I had 5 ulcers in the back of my throat my ENT didn't seemd to concered arhhhh,Ive had every test in the book done and im normal the say but they don't live with this pain, I've had fluid in my ear for about 3 weeks now it gone now but now they burn, I can't tell if the burn is from my tonsils/throat or in my ears, I been on antibiotics, nose sprays, diflucan, and nystatin mouth wash and swallow nothing helps.
Dear Tammi, Upon reviewing the adverse reactions listed in the Physicians Desk Reference for omeperazole (Prilosec) dry mouth, esophageal Candidias (fungal infection) and mucosal atrophy of the tongue are among those that are listed. In your case, I would discontinue omeperazole (Prilosec) at this time. These conditions are probably not serious or contagious and should resolve on their own once the drug is discontinued.
My husband suffers from gagging attacks, and then he starts to dry heave and/or choke and cough. It's not accompinied by nause however he will gag so hard that he will vomit up some phlem. This happens every day, some times several times a day, every time he takes a shower, once in a while while he is sleeping, some times in the morning, some times in the evening, some times outside, some times inside, while he is driving. In other words I happens just about any time.
Do you have any suggestions that would alleviate what seems to be my excessively dry mouth, tongue and throat?
, im thinking that i might be allergic to one of the pills i am taking,i recommend sucking on ricola brand cough drops these seem to help a bit you might also want to go and walk/drive somewhere, like a super market or something it seems to relax you a bit also always keep a bottle of water with you,try pursing your lips and breath through the nose and out the mouth, after your feeling a bit better try taking a hot shower, i should through in that that you use non drug nasal sprays "I use A
Nitric oxide is lethal to bacteria and viruses and is also known to increase oxygen absorption in your lungs from 10-25 percent. This is why it's important to inhale through your nose, especially when you are exercising. Your smell and taste buds are connected. If you can't breathe well through your nose, then your sense of smell will suffer, which means that your sense of taste will be altered as well. This can lead to appetite and weight issues.
So my question is is there any other reason i could be having pain in my throat when i take a deep breath through my mouth, post nasal drip with phlem in my throat, and stuffy nose with dry hard mucus? When i breathe in my throat feels so sore and it is really painful for the past 6 months its been like that.
I took a tagamet and some tums. Could the reflux dry out my sinuses? Is Prilosec something that can help this hidden reflux?
but the dry mouth and white coated tongue still continuing and feel very uncomfort with mouth and throat pain..I lost my weight, swollen gland on Neck which may due to throat pain as per doctor said..at the same time before 3months I did a mistake that is licking a lady nipple for few minutes..so I thought, am at the risk of HIV.so I took rapid test after 9weeks of possible exposure..but the test result came as negative..
My doctor took a look at my throat and said it looked irritated and did give me amoxicillon incase there was any bacterial infection, I have been on it for 6 days now. I also have an extremely dry mouth and a white tongue that tingles sometimes (gum seems to help a bit). I have this dull pain in the middle of my breastbone that makes my chest feel really heavy. When I walk up the stairs to my apartment or do anything remotely active II feel like my heart is going to pound of my chest.
My tongue also feels swollen at the same time, is extremely dry and has a white coating on the back. It comes and goes, sticking around for days and then going away only to come back in a few more days. I have difficultly sleeping because of the swelling and nothing seems to make it go away. Tylenol works enough for me to sleep. Antihistamines either put me in a fog or asleep and I cannot take them during the day.
The problem is something is causing a bad taste to come back in to my mouth sometime after all this and I am thinking it is because the Prevacid really is not being taken prior to eating. Has anyone ever tried taking the Prevacid at night or in the middle of the night( 4 hrs prior to Synthroid) so that it is working when I do put food into my stomach? I just am fearful of interfering with the Synthroid.
It is important for the eyeMD to determine whether it is just one eye or both and involves the mouth. As you do not mention what medication you are on for reflux, I cannot assess whether the medication is at fault. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
my mouth, eyes, nose and skin are dry, I can't sweat as much as I used to. And every medicine I try just seems to make it worse. The plaquenil causes tachycardia, as do any other meds I take: zoloft, ibuprofin, tylenol, prednisone. Prednisone caused some other weird side affects, like awful muscle pain, especially down my arms, and I swear I've lost some sensation. It also made the muscle twitching worse. Ibuprofin did the same thing.
I'm exactly in the same boat as you. I mean all the same symptoms. I've been to the ER twice and both times they said my heart was fine. I seen a Cardiologist who ran a bunch of blood tests, EKG's and a stress test and he said my heart was fine. The only thing different from you is I sometimes have all the other symptoms without the chest pain. My GP keeps thinking it's anxiety and keeps trying to feed me anti depressants which keep making me depressed and I stop taking them.
I take Prilosec in the evenings and for awhile it really helped the dry mouth but now, not so much. I'm a mess of issues right now that I vented about in an earlier post but I just wanted to tell you that the dry mouth MUST have something to do with the gastro stuff because I'm suffering too. I'm suffering from a whole heck of a lot and I'm about ready to crack!
Constipation; diarrhea; drowsiness; dry mouth; gas; headache; nausea; stomach pain.
This rash appeared in 2008 after the incident, maybe months later and again last year in 2010. It was dry pale and scaly and appeared mostly on upper arms, torso and upper legs. It did not itch. It looked similar to pityriasis rosea. But as of December I have had the following HIV symptoms: Main symptoms as of December 2010: - Loose Stools / Diarrhea: I have not been having normal bowel movements. I only go mostly once a day, in the morning but my stools are soft and mostly diarrheal.
