prilosec and dry mouth

I recently had Turbinate reduction (August 14th), I have a cold head al the time, too much air flow and the worst problem is the dry mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a really hard time swallowing and eating!! The dry mouth wakes me up at night and then I can't get back to sleep! I've a very important job and MUST GET SLEEP!!! How do I stop the Dry Mouth????????????????

I was recently going on eight weeks of taking it. I too WAS suffering from dry mouth and tongue and a severe burning sensation in my throat that was getting worse. I feared the worst, waking up with severe dry mouth, panic attacks as to what was happening. I couldnt even make a drop of saliva. I stopped taking the omeprazole last night. For the first time in weeks i slept like a baby. The dryness in my mouth stopped, and the severe burning in my throat went away.

t noticed much with the mouth but i will now be paying close attention. I have taken Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and Prevacid up to twice a day at the max dosage. I recently had an eye exam from an eyeMD but the doc just said i had dry eye and would need glasses when I hit my 50's. Not real helpful.

My doctor took a look at my throat and said it looked irritated and did give me amoxicillon incase there was any bacterial infection, I have been on it for 6 days now. I also have an extremely dry mouth and a white tongue that tingles sometimes (gum seems to help a bit). I have this dull pain in the middle of my breastbone that makes my chest feel really heavy. When I walk up the stairs to my apartment or do anything remotely active II feel like my heart is going to pound of my chest.

Hello, Chronic sinusitis or chronic allergic rhinitis can lead to the saliva changes making them sticky and thick and hence dry mouth and tongue. A CTscan of the sinuses may help with the diagnosis. If chronic sinusitis is diagnosed, a course of oral antibiotics or steroids can be considered. Are you taking some medicines like diuretics, antihistamines, antidepressants and muscle relaxants? They can also cause dry throat and mouth.

Because of my remote location, a trip to the ENT was very expensive and I declined to go. Eventually it did clear up and heal and go away, and I went on with my life. GI doc did an upper endoscopy in January that looked pretty normal with the exception of candida on the 6 areas she biopsies.

However, I did see your post on the Prilosec and this confuses me. I have chronic dry mouth/throat and a feeling of something stuck in my throat. Several docs later, all ENT docs always want to give you meds for GERD, which I don't have. I also have Osteo. When I was on Nexium for 4-5 mos straight, I developed severe muscle pain and a fractured rib. Saw an endo doc and she told me to not take the Nexium or Omeprazole (Prilosec) due to the possible side effects.

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. GERD can be the result of untreated allergies....and may not be the main issue....some see a case of GERD and think treat that and the other issues go away....but you need to know which started first.... Zantac is a histamine blocker so that is good to start with...but you may need an antihistamine to help with the allergies...Prilosec is a proton pump inhibitor and may not be the med for you . I don't understand taking both....

I am having the most peculiar symptoms with no real answers. Out of the blue one morning I had a rash on my inner arms, and terribly itchy for that day. After showing that evening, it was all over my arms, but quickly faded and never has repeated this. My first thought was it was my Levoxyl, but I have been taking it for nearly 5 years (thyroidectomy for cancer), and taking that particular pill (88mcg) for over a year.

I have had numerous expensive tests done and all they tell me is to take prilosec everyday. The prilosec has not helped. I find myself taking more and more antacids and the problem is worse. What could be the problem? Please help me..

I saw an ENT and the Doctor told me that it was a slight case of acid reflux. He told me to take Prilosec and watch what I eat and when. It's been 4 days now and it has gotten better but not completely. I have been taking 4 1200mg of Omega 3 pills for about 2 years now. I read somewhere that Omega 3 pills can give you acid reflux. I take it right before I goto bed. I wonder if I take it in the morning or even spiltting it up could help.

but the dry mouth and white coated tongue still continuing and feel very uncomfort with mouth and throat pain..I lost my weight, swollen gland on Neck which may due to throat pain as per doctor said..at the same time before 3months I did a mistake that is licking a lady nipple for few minutes..so I thought, am at the risk of HIV.so I took rapid test after 9weeks of possible exposure..but the test result came as negative..

Lately when I eat ANYTHING it seems in the afternoon/evening my tongue feels like it's swelling up in my throat and I get this thick yellowish coating on the back that gets worse as the day goes on, on the top of my tongue but on the sides. I have a big crack down the middle of my tongue. My mouth feels like cotton and it's sticky. It happens EVERY single afternoon/evening. First, I had a dry nose and mouth throughout the entire 48 weeks and also for a month and a half after finishing Tx. At times my mouth was so dry I could not swallow, especially at night. I have had a upper GI due to pain in my stomach and they said I have acid reflux in my upper throat area, or something like that. I don't feel the reflux come up into my throat. I took Zantac for a few months and the pain went away. I generally have no symptoms. Lately, I was put on Topamax for my migraine and migraine associated vertigo and a side effect is GI reflux.

I have been everywhere on the web and here and nothing seems to fit, until i did some research and saw that dry mouth is sympotmatic of diabetes. Can anyone shed some light? Its more of an inconvenience than anything else. I can still swallow, doesnt affect taste, throat isnt sore, sleeping is not a problem. He is on Denamarin ¼ tablet for small to mediun dogs, 1 Prednisone tablet 5mg in the morning, ½ 250mg Metronidazole pill in the morning, and ¼ Prilosec in the morning! At night he only gets ¼ Prilosec! He has been holding his own for about a year now. Yesterday he started the head tilt and really stiff walking. He pants and drinks lots of water. During the medicine for the reflux I start to have dry mouth and toothache . The toothache went off after 2 weeks and dry mouth is start around .My tongue started to have strange and irradiated feeling like scalding tongue and the upper wall of my mouth also have irradiated feeling . Now I start to have bloated stomach .I really don't know what the main cause of this . Is it anxiety ,reflux or other illness .

Then I started oil pulling bc I looked up dry mouth and throat and some pretty weird things came up. Like sorts of gum disease. Oil pulling helps kill and pull all the toxins out of your mouth. I'm much better now. Still a little dry but I can sleep. Then about my hip (left side) I started stretching (the best I could lol) and made sure I had lots and lots of back,belly and leg support which really helped. I am a 47 year old woman with terrible dry mouth. I have had several tests and the doctor can't find anything in the blood tests. This is miserable! Could this be a symptom of perimenopause and is there some type of medication that could help? I have tried many over the counter remedies and nothing seems to help.

Yea I have dry mouth and nose. I was getting a bloody nose bcuz it was dry. Try using a humidifier.

Is it actually the feeling of being thirsty or just having a dry mouth? If your mouth is feeling dry try sucking on a hard candy or swishing your mouth out with water or mouthwash. If you feel like you are dehydrated unless you drink that much water that warrants a visit with the doc. As coffeebuzz said that can be an indicator of many different issues including diabetes or kidney issues to name a few. How often are you using the bathroom?
