It is a autoimmune disease having an abnormally low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) of unknown origin. It occurs in children as well as adults. Peak prevalence occurs in adults aged 20-50 years. Peak prevalence occurs in children aged 2-4 years. Approximately 40% of all patients are younger than 10 years. as adults.

Secondary thrombocytopenia is treated by eliminating the cause. Primary thrombocytopenia is treated by immunosuppressive therapies, such as prednisone, which your dog is currently on. Right now we do not know whether your dog has primary or secondary thrombocytopenia, that is why your vet has tried treating with both an antibiotic and with prednisone.

My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

I would appreciate any information about marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) secondary to HepC infection?
My partner was diagnosed with MZL in Jan 08 by surgical biopsy of a lymph node in his neck. It's a rare indolent form & most likely results from HepC infection. He has a small patch in the bone but CT scans & a PET scan revealed no other nodes in between, so is sort of stage 1 & 4 at the same time.
He is 56yrs old, geno 1b, +ive for over 30 yrs.
Has anyone tried to supplement your Doggy with papaya leaf extract to help raise their platelets? My dog is diagnosed with immune mediated Thrombocytopenia which means his platelets is down to like zero and many bruises on him. He's been on Pred for a wk to help increase Plt but it's working slowly. I read a review at this website herbal papaya that she used on her dog n works. I would like to know if there's more info about this papaya leaf extract.
I am having a problem with taking my Prevacid 4 hrs. after Synthroid. Right now my routine is to take Synthroid when I first get up and 6 AM. an hour later eat something void of fiber (usually egg sub.) The 4 hrs. later I take the Prevacid and have another small meal (cereal usually). The problem is something is causing a bad taste to come back in to my mouth sometime after all this and I am thinking it is because the Prevacid really is not being taken prior to eating.

I just went to the doctor to get blood tests and make sure that my drinking has not already damaged my body beyond repair. My doctor gave me Prevacid for some stomach issues I have been Having. My bone density plummeted from 15% above normal to 25% below normal in 6 years (post menopause). Could Prevacid excellerate bone loss. I don't have many risk factors for osteoporosis, no family history.
I take Synthroid, Verapamil, Prevacid. I eat lots of dairy, greens, almonds. I exercise daily.

After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back. The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week. I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker.
