He has had colonoscopy and endoscopy and found nothing. What could be causing this. He is taking protonix and has taken prevacid previously. He also gets a sharp pain under his left rib cage.
Since August of 2010 I've had chest pain, difficulty breathing, incredible stomach bloating/distention (even after just drinking a glass of water), burping, reflux, and heartburn. My main concern is the bloating and difficulty breathing. I can barely function on a day to day basis. I eat little bites all day long because I can't eat a full meal or I start hyperventilating. I have had an EGD which showed a polyp (was removed) and some mild esophagitis. I don't have H.
I've been having acid reflux like symptoms off and on for the past 8-9 months I'd say. It started with the burning in the throat, and the heartburn. By February, my stomach started seeming to bloat really bad after meals. I went to see an Urgent Care doctor and they prescribed me with Prevacid, as well as trying to order some xrays, a barium swallow, etc. But I followed up with my primary doctor and she told me that I should just take the Prevacid and not worry about the xrays and such.
I've been having abdominal pain for a bit over two months. Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better.
My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling.
My teenage child had similar symptoms and her gallbladder was removed . in her case it was only functioning 4% and they kept saying for years (for her) that it was reflux, etc. and now that it's gone for 3 + yrs I cannot recall the last time she's taken Prevacid .. however, with a hiatal hernia you could be having reflux symptoms. Is your Dr suggesting surgery to correct it and/or the gallbladder? My child had not stones, too ... but symptoms with all labs except the HIDA being normal.
For about the last three years i have not had a normal bowel movement it goes from pencil line movement to a extreme liquid movement. all this is started with a bloating feeling in my upper stomach as if my food is not digesting at all as if it sits in my stomach. this is followed up by Sulfur burps (eggy burps). after about 12 hours comes the extreme pain and cramping and then the diarrhea. and the worse flatulence i have ever heard come out of a human.
Yes, prevacid and omeprazole are the only drugs I've tried for GERD. Any guess as to what could be causing the spasms? I get a lot of tightness all across my chest.
Hi, I have had acid reflux for years. Have taken multiple meds (prilosec, prevacid, protonix, etc.) and the all seem to work for awhile then i need to switch. Actually don't have much heartburn but bloating, burping, gassy, etc. Now have a very sour taste in mouth all the time. Am on 20 mg prilosec and have stepped it up to 2 a day. seems like it's getting worse. definitely not getting better. feel sick alot. have a doctor's appt.
just called and said its Diverticulia(sp) and also said Bacteria in my stomach and thats what is causing the bloating and stay on Prevacid for a month.Can you tell me how you felt symptoms and how long will it take for my stomach to go down to normal.He also said to eat alot of fiber,veggies and fruit.Then if it does help to take Benefiber does this really work?
I'm hoping someone can explain the Dx's alittle more because you know how fast the Drs.
For bloat and belching from fat intake Nexium has been my savior. Ask your doctor to prescribe 40mg and take all12 weeks.

I'm a 33 year old female. 3 nights ago, I was woken up by intense stomach pains (right in the bottom/center of my ribs) that felt like they were coming in waves lasting about 3-5 seconds. I was eating Gaviscon tablets all night, which helped for about 25 minutes at a time. I have absolutely NO history of stomach issues or even heartburn. I've been taking Prevacid for 2 days and its helping though I still take Gaviscon liquid in the morning and when I go to bed.
Ok so here is my issue I weigh 230 lbs absolutley unintentional I cannot lose weight no matter what I consume only about a thousand calories a day not because i starve myself because frankly that is my capacity when a growing male my age needs about 2500. Next I have a very very slow digestive system I have GERD take prevacid 30mg twice a day.. After i eat i don't stuff myself I have heaviness and bloating and no amount of exercise can reduce even a pound combined with diet.

Have you had a breath test for H. pylori done?
46 is early for colorectal cancer, nausea is not a typical symptom. If pain was from cancer, you'd probably bleed from the intestine. Maybe it's good if you have a hemmocult test for hidden blood in the stool.
I was born a blue baby with stomach issues. For as long as I can remember I have had issues with burping. I have been tested for GERD, which was negative, and have been prescribed many medications for related smptoms of GERD. I have also taken over the counter medication, and I have changed my diet numerous times. Yet I still have the same issues I have always had, but they are becoming worse with time. I have seen many doctors, and they still cannot figure out how to help me.
