I get severe bloating after I eat. I have recently been diagnosed with a small hiatial hernia. I take prevacid twice a day. Could this be reducing the acid too much or destroying good bacteria? Also I eat extremely bland every meal, try to avoid gaseous food and all dairy products. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this severe bloating? Oh and I seem to have mild pain or discomfort in the upper mid-section of abdomen often.
He has had colonoscopy and endoscopy and found nothing. What could be causing this. He is taking protonix and has taken prevacid previously. He also gets a sharp pain under his left rib cage.
ve had chest pain, difficulty breathing, incredible stomach bloating/distention (even after just drinking a glass of water), burping, reflux, and heartburn. My main concern is the bloating and difficulty breathing. I can barely function on a day to day basis. I eat little bites all day long because I can't eat a full meal or I start hyperventilating. By February, my stomach started seeming to bloat really bad after meals. I went to see an Urgent Care doctor and they prescribed me with Prevacid, as well as trying to order some xrays, a barium swallow, etc. But I followed up with my primary doctor and she told me that I should just take the Prevacid and not worry about the xrays and such. That acid reflux is "normal" and Prevacid will help it.
And it did. Or maybe I was thinking it was.
Until I ran out of it about 3 weeks ago.
I suffer from acid reflux. I take Prevacid which works great. My only complaint is i burp loudly and continually through the night, waking me up. It doesn't burn it's like I just have a lot of air on my stomach and I can't stop burping. Could someone tell me what could be the cause of this and what can I do to stop it so I can get a full nights rest.
Im taking Prevacid and Propulsid for my stomach problems but everytime i eat my chest starts to hurt, why is that?
Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better.
My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
For about the last three years i have not had a normal bowel movement it goes from pencil line movement to a extreme liquid movement. all this is started with a bloating feeling in my upper stomach as if my food is not digesting at all as if it sits in my stomach. this is followed up by Sulfur burps (eggy burps). after about 12 hours comes the extreme pain and cramping and then the diarrhea. and the worse flatulence i have ever heard come out of a human.
I asked the Dr. recently about the fact that I often feel overly full especially after eating full meals but other times as well and need to burp--sometimes excusing myself to make myself burp. This usually helps a lot. Sometimes I also experience bloating but it's hard to pinpoint exactly what brings it on. A hida scan showed my gall bladder was less than 10% functioning and an endoscopy found a hiatal hernia. For now because I have no pain, nausea, etc.
Hi, I have had acid reflux for years. Have taken multiple meds (prilosec, prevacid, protonix, etc.) and the all seem to work for awhile then i need to switch. Actually don't have much heartburn but bloating, burping, gassy, etc. Now have a very sour taste in mouth all the time. Am on 20 mg prilosec and have stepped it up to 2 a day. seems like it's getting worse. definitely not getting better. feel sick alot. have a doctor's appt.
just called and said its Diverticulia(sp) and also said Bacteria in my stomach and thats what is causing the bloating and stay on Prevacid for a month.Can you tell me how you felt symptoms and how long will it take for my stomach to go down to normal.He also said to eat alot of fiber,veggies and fruit.Then if it does help to take Benefiber does this really work?
I'm hoping someone can explain the Dx's alittle more because you know how fast the Drs.
I'm a 33 year old female. 3 nights ago, I was woken up by intense stomach pains (right in the bottom/center of my ribs) that felt like they were coming in waves lasting about 3-5 seconds. I was eating Gaviscon tablets all night, which helped for about 25 minutes at a time. I have absolutely NO history of stomach issues or even heartburn. I've been taking Prevacid for 2 days and its helping though I still take Gaviscon liquid in the morning and when I go to bed.

Ok so here is my issue I weigh 230 lbs absolutley unintentional I cannot lose weight no matter what I consume only about a thousand calories a day not because i starve myself because frankly that is my capacity when a growing male my age needs about 2500. Next I have a very very slow digestive system I have GERD take prevacid 30mg twice a day.. After i eat i don't stuff myself I have heaviness and bloating and no amount of exercise can reduce even a pound combined with diet.
I had cramp pains and pretty sever bloating and I tried some diets and to figure it out. Ended up going to the doctor and had a colonoscopy and an upper scope done. Turns out I had the beginning stages of an ulcer. Weird because it didn't hurt up high by my stomach and didn't really make sense, but after I had suffered with the pains for over 6 months, I took the antacids (similar stuff to prevacid), and within 2 weeks I felt 100% better.
Here are my symptoms, Bloating, Burping from morning till night, acid taste in my mouth on the larger burps, occasional mild vomits from burps, occasional burping with blood taste in mouth, painful cramping when bloated, and almost always a foul smell from the burps. Any advise or info would help. I have been looking into this for years and have yet to find anything that helps. Thanks.
Thanks so much for all the great info you really hit the exact spot I was wondering I love spicy food very much cause I heard it clears out Flem from the chest and throat and it makes me sweat so is it possible that I have some kind of an old chronic esophagitis or some kind of stomach inflammation and that is the main cause of my problem causing the feeling of full stomach and Bloating and the need of Burping but there is nothing to come out its all just sensation and Spice make it worse altho
my symptoms are weight loss, severe constipation, headaches, bloating, gas, and loss of appetite. Ive had and endoscopy, colonoscopy, cat scan, xray, multiple blood tests, allergy tests, diabetes test, fructose intolerance test, and stomach motility/emptying test and the doctors haven't found anything except lactose intolerance. I tried an IBS diet but that did nothing to alleviate my symptoms (it might have even made the worse especially the bloating).
