My doctor put me on Zantac and have been using it more than recommended because it isn't working. I only eat raisen brand,shredded wheat and fruit. No matter what I get acid so bad I throwup. Tonight I picked up Prevacid at the store. I haven't asked my doctor because I am such high risk. I can't take this anymore with the throwing up. Is anyone else taking prevacid and when did you start taking it ? How is baby since you have been taking it ?

My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

I have been lucky so far to have only gained 16lbs so far. May be a lot to some but for me that's great! My last Baby I gained 25/30lbs by my 6 mth mark. Only symptoms I'm suffering from lately is heartburn. Omg it's really bad. And it's with almost everything. Also walking takes a lot out of me already. I try to walk now that the weather is getting gorgeous out but I get so winded so quick. But in most pleased that my baby is 1lbs 6oz already!

I am having a problem with taking my Prevacid 4 hrs. after Synthroid. Right now my routine is to take Synthroid when I first get up and 6 AM. an hour later eat something void of fiber (usually egg sub.) The 4 hrs. later I take the Prevacid and have another small meal (cereal usually). The problem is something is causing a bad taste to come back in to my mouth sometime after all this and I am thinking it is because the Prevacid really is not being taken prior to eating.

You can take prisoner of Prevacid during pregnancy. And I have heard it really helps. I just drink glass after glass of milk. Because I don't like meds.

Is there any history of celiac disease in the family? Has she been tested for that? Babies will often show symptoms similar to reflux when the problem can actually be celiac disease.

I just went to the doctor to get blood tests and make sure that my drinking has not already damaged my body beyond repair. My doctor gave me Prevacid for some stomach issues I have been Having. Does anyone know if it is safe to take it when I have been drinking? I am really trying to stop but I am having problems with the withdrawls so I am trying to wean myself off. Any one have any opinions? I would hate to do more damage when I ma trying to correct already done damage.

Now off hydro 5 days, taking prevacid again. I will deal with acid reflux and take my prevacid..Stress does make it flare up really bad...so just maybe I can get it back under control soon...

So why did they take Prevacid Packets off the shelf I ask .. grrrrrrrrrrr .. my co pay was $35/mo! It is helpful to have a quick melt or packet to mix for kids who aren't able to swallow a pill .. and the taste for an older child is awful if compounded (tastes like salt even with flavor bcz of the saccharine like products in it). Just was curious. I guess the other option are capsules of prevacid and open and sprinkle on something.

I noticed eating too much would bring them on for sure. I am on day 3 of having such a huge break from them! Thank you God! Chocolate is a no-no, along with other caffeine. Itdood just mentioned in one of his posts (I think it was him) that sugar and carbs can make them worse. How exciting you are having a baby! Do try to not stress over them, and congratulaions! He has Silent Reflux and is on Zantac twice a day and Prevacid once a day. It seems like he eats and eats because he is in pain. What can I do to help him not gain so much weight?

My bone density plummeted from 15% above normal to 25% below normal in 6 years (post menopause). Could Prevacid excellerate bone loss. s what I meant. I meant Prevacid. Mine was put on Zantac first and was then switched to Prevacid and that was better. The Zantac only helped for like a couple of weeks and then went right back. Well, if they have tried all of that, then maybe a GI specialist is the route to go. It sounds like your doc has tried everything. And maybe your doc is right. Maybe when Julian starts solids, it will help. I hope so.....for both your sake. I know it's hard....Just hang in there.

After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back. The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week. I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker.

i had blood work done and now my cholesterol is 160 without any changes except for the Prevacid. Can Prevacid lower cholesterol ? I was worried because I have read that an unexplained drop in cholesterol could mean cancer someplace.

I quit prevacid on many occasions cold turkey. It caused massive lower stomach cramps and thick painful diarrhea. I recommend you get off it immediately, however, slowly ween yourself off. DO NOT quit cold turkey. Get on Zantac. PPI's truly messed me up. Made me 1000 times sicker than my GERD. Now I've been off them for 6 months and live a normal healthy life. Those are poison. Doctors will do anything they can to get your money, don't belive the ppi hype.

Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.

Hi I have had GERD for a few years now. I've never had halitosis. Recently my reflux started acting up, so i doubled my prevacid. I'm not sure what is causing my very horrid halitosis. I have figured out it is not dental related. In fact when I burp, I can feel the hot yucky gas coming up from my stomach. A recent google showed that prevacid can cause a side effect of halitosis. Other comments insist it is the GERD but I am not entirely convinced.

I had the same thing. It turned out for me to be irritation of the esophagus from reflux and so they put me on Prevacid. Holy cow was that a miracle pill!! I didn't even realize how bad my reflux was until I took that and felt normal. It's best to tell your OB about it so it can be treated.

I'm pretty scared.... I don't know what to think. 44 about to be 45 year old white male I had heart disease at an early age but other than that, no health problems. About a year now I have had very bad acid reflux and at times due to the damage it was causing, I had lots of trouble swallowing. Before I started taking prevacid ...I wasn't able to swallow ANY kind of food that had any kind of heat to it..and by heat I mean spicy, I don't mean temperature wise.

I have fought taking PPis over the years but when I developed the EE, I had to go on high dose prevacid---30 mgs, 2x daily. I wake up some mornings with stabbing pain in my gut with the first deep breath that I take. I experimented recently afte wakin gup in pain, and didn't ake the prevacid that night. i woke up with no pain in my gut. Has anyone else had a PPI cause them stomach pain? I am also on a swallowed steroid for the EE.
