The difference between prednisone and prednisolone is that one is the precursor to the other. Prednisone is activated by enzymes in the liver to turn into prednisolone. They do have similar uses but prednisolone is more readily absorbed by the body. Prednisolone is usually used when there is liver toxicity or liver failure involved.

Hi i took 30mg of prednisolone for 2 days. how long will the medication be out of my system?
Last night, I had a small dark red spot in the white of my eye (~3mm in diameter). This progressed into a red streak radiating outward in my eye like a spoke. I believe it to be a broken blood vessel. I called the doctor and he said to watch it but that I shouldn't come in unless there are more issues.
It is possible that the last couple of issues were coincidental and unrelated to the original issue (e.g. a stye and a broken blood vessel).
i may have taken ofloxacin and prednisolone eye drops in my eye 5 times in a day instead of the 4 times like i was supposed to do.will it cause any harm?
Our research has found that high doses of Propofol used in critically ill patients in combination with glucocorticoids (Prednisolone) can cause the syndrome. We gave Prednisolone twice daily for a week before the Propofol was administered. So we are also curious what a normal dosage range of Propofol is for a 5.5lb cat?
This was administered because they had to thoroughly inspect the mouth area and she did not want that to happen. It is squeamous cell carcinoma being treated.
The seizures last about 2 minutes. Blood tests show his liver values are in the high range. Currently he is on 2ml Phenobarb twice/day and 5mg Prednisolone once/day. My vet refuses to let me go up with the Pred. I argue that since his time may be coming to an end why not go with 5mg Pred twice/day, but the vet does not budge. I also think that the Pheno is on the low end for a 10 pound cat with the amount of seizures he is having.

hi there...I have been treated with prednisolone for pneumonia, was in hospital and have been recovering for 6 weeks. I was on prednisolone for 3 weeks and they did NOT taper the dosage.I have experienced horrific withdrawals and now have been given zanax for treating the extreme anxiety. It is 3 weeks since I took thelast prednisolone tablet, I am angry I was not advised to taper down the dosage and I am wondering how long I will be going through this awful period of withdrawal.
It was prescribed for me after cataract surgery along with prednisolone (a corticosteroid). My dosage of both was 4x per day for the first postoperative week, 3x per day for the second, 2x per day for the third, and once a day at bedtime for the fourth week.
Since Nevanac is an NSAID, I think of it as "ibuprofin for the eyes". I had no difficulties with it.
I have also been in touch with Asthma U.K regards what medication is the RIGHT medication regards Prednisolone intake. I was advised that it is best to take a large dose of Predisolone e.g. 40 – 50 mg for a few days to quickly bring the attack under control rather than a low dose that drags on and possible results in taking more Predisolone.

You are correct in wanting to exercise caution. Prednisone is prescibed after many kinds of eye surgeries--in the dosage that you have been prescribed. I think as an aid in healing. I think your surgeon's office can answer this question, if Dr. Kutryb does not pick up your second question.
The reason is that in a small amount of cases it has caused swelling of the brain. If you look at the label on cough syrup for children, even those typically recommend for age 6 and up (at least the brands I have seen.)
When my 2 1/2 year old has a cold with a cough I give him milk slightly warmed with honey in it. I have also given him a teaspoon of honey on it's own. It works extremely well.
Hi, I had an embryo transfer today and was told that I could start steroid (20 dosage) today 'but there is no proof that it does harm or does good'. I don't know if to start them as other protocols are to start them before the transfer and so don't want to do any harm. So don't know if to take them or not. Can anyone give me any advice please?

August 2017 - I helped my parents with some heavy bags into the house, that evening I had a very sharp pain in my chest. This is when I took the Prednisolone. On this drug for 5 days, it seemed to majorly increase the pain and I had pain everyday in my chest and left arm.
Day 5 after my last lot of Prednisolone - went to the hospital because of the pain and they checked me for anything heart related and couldn't find anything obviously wrong.
